Yes, they put a note in my account and a reference number

"I see that the payment status is still in pending with the $79 and after it update then we can make refund to you.

        Will that be fine?"

"I understand your situation. I see that your payment status is still in pending process once it updated then we can make refund to your respective account.

hope I tried to help you?"

From chatting in Telstra app ;-)

        • Hi. I am also looking to use a Amaysim sim that I have not recharge. Did you have to recharge it for port in to go through?

          • @FiDad: No. Login Amaysim then change the plan to "AS YOU GO"

This is what I did. I didn't recharge.

  • If I am already a Telstra customer paying $75 per month for a sim only plan. Do I still need to port to JB Hifi Mobile? If I get this I only pay $4 more and get a phone and voucher so maybe its not worth me to cancel this?

    • Exclude Telstra and Boost Mobile (Telstra too). You need a different sim card. Get a cheap sim card with new number from different network for porting.

    • If I am already a Telstra customer paying $75 per month for a sim only plan

Firstly, this should never happen haha review your mobile plan yearly at the minimum

Do I still need to port to JB Hifi Mobile?

Yes, you can only get this deal if porting in a number, so you will need to port out of telstra first before porting your number for this deal. YMMV whether the JB staff will enforce 30 day rule.

  • Does Telstra still offer a discount on the plan? From memory if you hit them up and ask nicely they'll offer $10/month discount?

  • What’s the cheapest sim available? To get nee number and port in?

  • +10

Ok. Bought an ALDI sim at 12, had some lunch. Sim activated around 12:15. Contract signed and phone on back order by 1. Got on Telstra chat at 1:30, contract cancelled 2:05 :P
Am told if I want the $79 refunded, I have to speak to JB Hifi Mobile because it's still pending. I'm assuming this won't get refunded, but I'll try Telstra again in 7 days and say I was just waiting for the funds to not be pending anymore. Cancellation charge came to $526.93 which will be charged in 10 days unless I pay sooner.

Let's just hope the phone backorder doesn't somehow get cancelled. If it does, then I will request my full voucher as per the receipt I got from JB Hifi ($1,387).

    So worst case, total cost = $5 ALDI Sim + $79 Service Charge + $526.93 = $610.93
Best case if I get the $79 back, is $531.93 (But I'm not holding hope)

Still better than what I was getting with the $300 trade in + $100 trade in + 20% discount on the Samsung EPP store for a 256GB.

    • anecdotally, it seems more people has gotten that $79 refund than not (i did too), so your chances are good if you cancel on the first day.

      • Yup, you were right. They refunded me :D
So net cost for me was: $5 ALDI Sim + $526.93 Termination = $531.93

        • Did you end up getting the $79 back from Jbhifi or waited a while and then asked Telstra? I just cancelled the plan and was told to talk to Jbhifi to get the $79 refunded

          • @pravvy: we missed the boat, they stopped refunding $79 from today

            • +1

@FiDad: Doh! So both Jb and Telstra aren't refunding the $79? It was suggested to call the bank and stop the charge - might be worth pursuing?

              • +1

@pravvy: As per terms and conditions of the deal we are not entitled to first month fee refund anyway. It was gracious on Telstra part for allowing this but looks like they have wised up now.

          • @pravvy: Sorry, I never saw any of these replies! I just went back to Telstra after 3 or so days and asked them to do the refund as it shouldn't be pending anymore, and they did.

        • Yea rip I tried my luck but the Telstra support clerk was switched on about the TOS - might try my luck again tomorrow..

        • Is porting-in a number a necessity?

Although looks like JbHiFi want me to SMS validate a number before they'll let me open an account.

          I don't want to lose my current Amaysim deal (ex-Vaya - $16/20GB)

    • Sorry guys newbie here… so as says jbhifi mobile plan but people cancelling Telstra here got confused can someone plz guide ? And can I do this tomorrow morning ?

    • As I understand from both Telstra and JBhift T&C , for s25 ultra if we cancel Telstra plan in fist month…we need to pay Telstra upfront 800$ for plan fee and we may need to pay back jbhifi voucher repayment fee so that means phone will still cost 800+ voucher repayment fee which is calculated prorate basis on number months u use Telstra plan… so how does this cost only 800$ sorry I have gone through lot of threads and people discussing about repayment to Telstra but little bit concern about jbhifi 1700$ voucher repayment which is applied for phone… can someone please
      Clarify ???

    • Could I ask how the cancellation charge was $526.93? Idk why mine is $550

      • $550 is because it's calculating 24 months pro rata, rather than 23 of 24 months.

        • So if I cancel straight away it will be $526.93?

    • Great comment. Thx

Just under an hour left until offer close… Trying to work out how to access it whislt I'm overseas with no roaming nor sms reception access, and without screwing up my current Amaysim account (ex-Vaya)…

Why did you need to buy the Aldi SIM?

Is there a real pathway to do this as a new customer. I've had Telstra prepaid account in the past, so I probably have verified account with them, but I think nothing current…

Looks like JBHiFi want me to verify my mobile number as part of opening a plna with them…! Hmmm

      Help!

      • You can't apply online as instore only. All stores are closed now so deal is as good as expired unless extended (unlikely).

        • Thanks heaps for this reply. And Yep, I missed that first line in the deal post "Online only".

Probably confused too by the fact that the link takes me to JbHiFi website which offers me buttons to click and pay for the pre-order deal.

But is it just the cancellation trick that requires ïn-store" presence? Trying to work out why not possible online?

          https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s25-512gb-…

          • @Charlotta: Because you need to fill in paperwork and receive the new SIM in hand from them as part of the port in process i.e. so that you have an active new SIM to place in phone. That can't be done online.
You can however still Pre order the 512GB model for $1387 for the next few hours as per your link. Normal price will be $1587…..or so they say :-)

  • Anyone receive an email/text about their S25?
Mine says it will be avail Feb 14.. is that right?

    • specifically it says i will be informed by 14 Feb when I can pick up, so technically it's possible that i'll get notified to pick up earlier.

      • +1

        Got my phone today

        • What store did u order from henezzy?

      • Mine definitely says it will be available for pick up Feb 14th lol

        • interesting that we get different notifications.

        • +1

Mine said that too, but got a sms today saying it was available for collection

          • @henezzy: Ahhh okay cool I'll keep an eye then, hopefully I can get it before Feb 14th

        • I got the same email. I called JB Hifi yesterday. They said they haven't got updates, though the lady I spoke to sounded a little unsure about what she was doing. Called today and the guy said let me check the cage, yup, yours is there. So picked it up today.

Anyone trying to get the $79 waived dont risk chatting with the reps. I tried on 3 different occasions and the third one actually went through the chat history and said he can see I've been trying to get the $79 waived, thats not gonna happen. Better to call…

    • Calling doesn't make a difference, the chat history is still visible in their CRM.

    • hard luck mate.

  • +2

I was able to cancel two plans via live chat, they gave me different pay out figures for each plan, $526 and $549 but agreed to discount to $526. I'm yet to get invoices to confirm.

I persisted about refunding the $79 and asked to speak to someone else, I was transferred to a manager and they agreed to refund for both plans.

    • So do i just go on live chat and say i want to cancel the plan? And then they do it or do they ask all questions trying to keep you there?
I signed up today, but thought I have to have the phone first.

  • +3

Can confirm I just cancelled my plan for $526.93 + $79 first month payment = $605.93 for the samsung s25 512g, pretty good deal

    • don't forget to try to get that $79 refunded

  • Have anyone tried pre order more than 3 per person?

  • Just checking- Do you recieve an actual $550 Jbhifi voucher with this purchase? or does it vanish towards the value of the phone/phone plan when you accept the deal?

    • +1

Where are you even getting $550 jb voucher from? $550 is the maximum cancellation fee you pay to cancel the plan

EDIT: Okay I see. So usually $79 mobile plan gets you $550 of JB Gift Card. For this deal, the S25 replaces that gift card. So you can choose S25 or $550, not both.

      • Yeah I was a bit confused at first, but thank you for clarifying.
Just went in today and ordered!
They signed me up, took me to the counter, wrote a gift card for $1387, used it and handed me the recipt.
No $550 voucher, just the phone (a recipt for the phone for when it arrives) like you said.

    • +1

JB staff literally activate a giftcard, scratch it off to get the pin, use it, then chuck it in the bin

      • +1

That is the $1387 voucher to cancel out the cost of the S25 512gb since this phone is "$0 up front device cost"

        • My experience from getting it at JB yesterday was that a $550 JB gift card was activated and used. I feel like this was an internal process as the outcome is as you've described. I'm more confused about the process after going through it. It's completely illogical.

The key points for me was the maximum voucher repayment fee which dictates the cancellation charge.

        • +2

best part about this is, technically you have a tax invoice for a $1387 phone for tax deductions :D

  • +2

    Just share my experience here:

Got a free eSIM trial number from Optus.

Went to the JB store, ordered the phone, ported the number, and signed the contract. I was charged $79 on my credit card (pending), and I was given a JB gift card worth $1387 to cover the cost of the phone. The staff then took the gift card and made the payment. I received multiple SMSs from Optus, Telstra and JB; the order was confirmed, and the number was ported. I was given a JB Mobile physical SIM card.

Went live chat with Telstra, asked to cancel the plan, no issue. an invoice with $526.93 was sent to my Email address (I wonder if I can pay it with JB gift card). I also asked for a refund of $79, with no issue. I got the reference number, as the payment is pending. Once it goes through, I need to chat with Telstra to finalise the refund.

So the potential maximum save is: $526.93 - gift card discount - TRS claim.

    • Are you repaying JB, or Telstra? Let us know if you managed to pay with JB gift card!

    • I have paid this already. I can't find it from the link provided to open JB-HiFi website, nothing to pay there. Then I opened Telstra app, the amount that I have to pay is there. So, I paid through the link from Testra app. Done.

I don't think you can use gift card for payment …

    • OK, turned out I couldn't pay with JB gift card as it was a payment to Telstra.

    • Unfortunately I have a mobile plan with Optus so not eligible for the free eSIM trial 😢

      • Just grab a $5 Aldi SIM.

        • Why is a port number necessary at all????

Asking because I'm currently overseas with no roaming to even receive sms confirmations on my primary Amaysim number (ex-Vaya), which is an account I don't want to shut down by porting out, and with just an hour until the pre-order deal closes…!

Deal thread here states "new/port" as options…? So is new account an option?

Looks like I have to be able to provide and confirm a mobile number to JBHifi to open an account with them…!

          • @Charlotta: Port in only. Doesn’t matter now as stores are closed PLUS if you are overseas wont work as one has to go instore to apply.

    • So what do you tell the telstra live chat representative, to get tbe 79$ refund? Have never done this before, so bit hesitant on starting the chat.

  • Received and picked up! Thanks ozb!

  • +1

Just picked up my S25 from them. There was no email, no SMS. Had to ring them up and they said it's available for pick up. An hour later after I picked it up, the order and the receipt isn't showing up in my account. Will have to chase them up on this.

Managed to get a refund of $79 from Telstra. They agreed straight away but because the payment was pending they said to get in touch later. After waiting for 2 days, I messaged them and they processed the refund. It's yet to hit my card.

    • Did you get the refund with the same rep that cancelled your plan?

      • +1

Yep, cancelled and confirmed a $79 refund with the same rep. Then proceeded the refund with another rep some days after.

    • My ported/already cancelled number was the one attached to the order

  • Checked the CIS for this and the same Good Guys deal, would the below not mean you need to repay the entire value of the voucher (or 23 months worth at least)?

You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan term.

    • Already cancelled the plan and can confirm the cancellation fee is only $550 pro rata for 23 months and I paid 1st month upfront when signed up for the deal. So after cancelling got an invoice of $526.93 for the cancellation fee. So total cost $605.93.

      • Ask for refund of the $79 through Telstra chat. My reason was I cannot continue the plan for now. I haven't used the sim card anyway. So, total cost is under $527 :)

        • I used the plan for a few days so never mind

  • End up only paying $400 for the phone.

$79 refunded, $526 termination fee, $126 TRS tax refund.

    • Awesome! Bargain for a flagship! I'm travelling too but departing few days past the 60 day window 😑

    • -1

      You didn't save $79.

      • He's just saying he didn't PAY $79. $526 - $126 = $400 … his maths is sound.

    • Great job, could I ask is your address printed in the tax invoice, and what is the invoice date based off?

    • +2

End up only paying $219 for the phone.

$79 refunded, $526.93 termination fee, $107.91 TRS tax refund, walked out with a $200 JB Hi-Fi giftcard.

      • How did you get the $200 gift card?

  • Hi hope it's okay to ask here too, as tgg one is separate thread:

Hi everyone, for those who have collected their phones, wanted to ask:

    1) What is the invoice date that you got and does it show the total full amount? (Is the date the preroder date, available for collection date, or collection date, needing to ask for TRS).
    2) For those that used the $200 gift card thing, did you let them know during preorder date or collection date, and when was it received at preorder date or collection date?

    Thank you so much.

  • Just enquiring whether anyone has started using their S25? Any issues with the camera or over heating? Anyone returning their phones because of these issues. Wanted to know if there are any major issues rather than hearing about these online. Not looking forward to having major issues after purchaing the S25. Posting here instead of forum as this will influence ozbargainers in getting this offer in these last days. Thanks.

    • You can try it in-store in JB-HIFI. I have tried it a bit there. ISO 25 from photo taken indoor there (good). No overheating. Not sure about video recording with long duration. I don't play games, so not sure about heat from playing games. If it's hot, mostly likely from the processor.

  • Anyone else having trouble trying to get the $79 refunded? The telstra rep keeps saying

"I do apologise but we do not provide refund for initial payment on a recently purchased service since it was part of the contract when this was purchased."

    • Call back and Try a different agent and some grovelling. My agent was great but I did cancel within 2 hours of ordering and Sim Card unused.

  • +2

This deal is a no brainer for my wife who currently has a S24 256gb in mint condition. Will actually profit by doing the switch since mobile guru pays $640 for S24 and we can get TRS refund as well. Plus, I was able to get the $200 voucher from JB.
    What a deal!

    • How do you get the $200 voucher, I assume it's the pre-order code. Do you do it in store at the start?

  • Which one is easier, new sim/number or porting existing number? Bit scared losing the existing number just incase something happens during port-in or out..

    • +1

If you cancel the service from telstra, they delete your number so I'd recommend get a new service to port.

  • +1

Picked up the phone today, refund of $79 also reflecting in my account. Today is a good day.

  • For those who have collected their phones, could I ask for the final invoice is our address printed there?

    • yes, full name and address printed on the invoice.
