Bosch 12V GWS-12V-76 Brushless Angle Grinder - Skin Only $148.80 (Was $248) Delivered / C&C / in-Store @ Tool Kit Depot

450

Here is a very decent saving for the 3 of you out there on the Bosch 12V system ;) I expect this post will therefore get 4 upvotes. Including mine, lol.

All jokes side, that's not a dig at anyone on the system, the tools are very good, but the range is a bit more limited and less popular than the Mikwaukee M12 and possibly the Makita CXT 12V line up.

The website mistakenly says its 105mm, but it does in fact only use 76mm discs like all the other mini grinder/cut off tools.

Specifications:
No-Load Speed: 19500RPM
Battery Voltage: 12V
Grinding Spidle Thread: M5
Bore Size Diameter: 10mm
Grinding/Cutting Disc Diameter: 76mm

It's not available in-store at all stores but is available for free delivery. It's easy to check which stores have stock on their website.

There you go, you’re now on 4 upvotes. 😀

I’ve already got 2 angle grinders (Dewalt and Metabo), won’t need any more!

    • Haha! Thanks, I will call that a win.

I love my Bosch blue 12V tools. Lightweight and powerful enough for most things I need (rather than 18V with a massive battery).
I so want this grinder, but for the 3 times/year I would use it I can't justify $150.

Although I have Makita 12V, I totally agree. They do 95% of what I need and are just nicer to use, more compact, lighter etc. And that was also the case too when I was still using them for work.

      • +1

Trouble is I already have a stack of 18Vbatteries.

This looks almost the exact same as the Toolpro 12v grinder that is $60, anyone know if they are the same?

    • Likely come from the same factory :).

    • +3

Unlikely the same. There was a comparison on YouTube (which I can no longer find) by an Eastern European dude of this Bosch and a few other mini grinders, inc Milwaukee etc. The "home brand" ones either lacked power or overheated and died. The Milwaukee came out best from recollection, but I got this one because I'm too heavily invested in Bosch 12v kit.

It's really good when you're looking to do delicate/precision work or remove grout from between tiles quickly or work in awkward spaces.

Thanks OP, I got another because TOOLS!

    • ToolPro disc 76mm
      Bosch disc 105mm

      • +3

That's incorrect on the website as per OP, its actually 76mm as well. Its also in its model "GWS-12V-76"

For anyone looking for a Makita random orbital sander (DBO180Z), I purchased this guy the other day (delivered from Oracle Germany) - took about 10 days to arrive.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00H7ET42M

    $142

    compare to Bunnings/Totaltools at $219

Tradetools does have it on sale at the moment for $179 - so could price beat with Bunnings at get it at 10% off ($161) - https://www.tradetools.com/makita-18v-125mm-random-orbital-s…

  • The Bosch 12v range looks amazing but I’m already failing at trying to standardise on one system. Currently have it down from 4 to 3.

A good watch for any budding angle grinder enthusiasts by the often informative but even more often insufferable John Cadogan. I've been using them occasionally for years, had my first shattered disc just a few months ago - pretty sobering. Saw this video and learnt some new things. Stay safe peeps.

    • Thanks. Will check it out.

My latest favourite thing is using mine with a wire disc to polish steel tools (was rusty) back to shiny then oil coat them.

I noticed that individual wires fly out (at high speed) constantly. I always wear safety glasses but yeah, really wouldn’t one of those going in your eye, like a spear. (Sorry for the mental image).

  • If I can find an adapter to use my Milwaukee M12 batteries then this is a hell of a deal!

The problem with Bosh, they have too many types of batteries. The two batteries (BHZUB1830) that came with my vacuum fit on my small chain saw and Reciprocating Recip Sabre Saw. Went to Bunnings to buy another battery, but they sell a different type.

  • Got this for free with a 2x12V combo via redemption…the drill impact 12v combo was only $199. Suggest waiting until next promo sales

  • Anyone got advice for getting into an ecosystem?
I would like to get various hand tools for general home maintenance, any suggestions? What comes on sale?

I have a dewalt drill driver which has been well used and great, but I cringe at the DeWalt skin only prices, given they're not going to be used frequently.

I would suggest Ryobi or Ozito PXC for your needs. Ozito is cheaper and there are frequent sales and the have a 5 year replacement warranty.

Are they as good as the pro brands? No, but they are well and truly good enough for diy.

Personally, I have about 50% Makita, 30% Ozito and about 20% Ryobi. It ended up that way as I was using Makita for work, and when I finished up I just was no longer prepared to pay Makita prices.

Happy with all the tools I own, they all get the job done and I have been quite surprised by the Ozito tools. Much better than I initially expected and am happy to use them.

Hope this is of some use to you.

      • Thanks so much for the advice, very helpful.

  • I'm unsure about a 12V angle grinder.

Unless you're cutting aluminum, you would want 18V to cut/grind.
