What Do You Think about TRUMP (Trumps' Own Meme Coin) ?

Trump launches his own meme coin (crypto).

It is here

What do you guys think about that? This is so wild.

    • correction: zero value created from a lot of energy and water

      • few understand the true worthlessness of their 1s and 0s.

    • Damn dude, missed opportunity to use skibidi instead of worthless.

  • +3

Totally worthless scam. Its this type of stunts that give a bad name for crypto.

    • +2

Thats exactly what most of crypto is, a scam.

  • The irony in that Trump announced to the world that "I can be bought".

  • +2

What I am surprised by in Bitcoin not getting smashed purely being a crypto associated with this type of pump and dump rubbish.

Meme coins are seriously a joke.

    • +2

      All coins are a joke

  • +1

Normal retrace is 75 - 90%. It's like giving these guys consequence free insider trading.

  • If there are enough stupid people to pump this shit to high price like $1000 USD (current is ~65USD) Trump will dump his remaining 800M coins in the next few months becoming the richest man on earth.
I think this batch is just to test the market and stupidity.

  • +1

This is too big to be an instant rugpull like most solana coins now. It's top 15th at the moment with a 13B market cap and on binance etc. We might see a retrace but I think it will comfortably hold top 50 for a long time now.

  • +2

I didn't realize that commbank put a 10k crypto limit until today. In fact, it blocked all transactions after 1.5k. Banks deciding where you can and can't send your money is why crypto should be a thing.

    • +5

Banks got sick of people losing money on crypto and then demanding their money back.

There's a guy who lost over $1k on an overseas online casino and then issued a chargeback on his CC. Westpac caved in and refunded the guy his money, even though he made the transaction.
      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3m0188rv

Yes, these people exist. And they also buy crypto.

HSBC in Australia completely banned bank transfer to all crypto exchanges. Cryptobros will say it's to prevent competition and spin conspiracy theories, when in reality banks have had to deal with gamblers and scam victims who want their money back when they lose on crypto.

If you want to Be Your Own Bank, take the wins and losses equally.

      • +2

Wow. I followed that Whirlpool thread, keen to know what happened in the end. I can't believe he actually got his way.

      • +2

Truly stunned if that was true result. Very surprised the bank would role over for that one as it was not fraud and they would not want to set a precedent that they will refund your gambling losses.

    • +1

Then people shouldn’t try and get compensation from the banks when they get scammed (crypto or non crypto scams)

    • The limits are in place precisely because everyone has been screaming at them for people getting scammed and it is nearly always through crypto transfers. funnily enough Crypto would be a thousand times worse as then no one can protect you from scams, might make people take some responsibility for their actions instead of trying to blame everyone else.

  • +3

Why wouldn't trump grift using the presidency like he did the last time he got in. everythings for sale now.

    • +2

      before, during and after

  • +1

jumped on about 12 hours late yesterday and have already made a significant amount, wish i went in all in what little crypto i had but my trades in were aproved pretty fast yesterday.

i think the announcement of main markets picking it up and how fast is driving a strong third wave but i dont want to risk real money at the moment. be guttered if it pops off again but at least this time i made something. only this, gamestop and amc ive been there for the start lol

  • +1

    Bitcoin only.

  • +1

hahahaa… just fell off the cliff :) (8.30am)

    • That’s because his wife launched her own meme coin MELANIA. So time to buy that one instead

      • I'm waiting for the Don Jnr and Baron Trump coins. Lambo money right there.

    • +1
    • +1

Oh no! Almost a 50% sudden fall in a purely speculative asset that everyone knows is garbage? Who could possibly have seen this coming?

      • -7

Literally everyone who rubbishes crypto like this (but are suspiciously quiet when huge gains are made) is bitter that they missed out.

Cry harder on the train ride home mate

        • +1

cant afford the train, I have to hitch hike

        • +1

Huge gains were made, but how many people actually cashed out? If you haven't cashed out then your gains are only theoretical. Just numbers on a screen that could disappear at any moment.

        • -2

Negged by equally bitter people lol

  • +3

    https://www.9news.com.au/world/trump-meme-coin-now-worth-mor…

80% held by trump affiliates…..if thats not a scam coin i dunno what is

    • +2

They literally tell you that on their website tho? https://gettrumpmemes.com/#tokenomics

      • +2

well I know that, they dont need to hide it anymore, the stupid people cant read

        • They never hid it. And this isn’t anything strange. A lot of coins do this, pretty normal.

          • @zubzub: Because they're also all scams

            • @Autonomic: Is it a scam if they tell you everything up front and you still choose to spend money on it? Doesn't seem like the definition of a scam

            • @Autonomic: Yeah I mean I’m not going to argue it’s worth anything, but call it what you want there is money to be made if you play it smart and don’t be greedy.

  • +2

I wouldn't touch any of those meme coins even Trumps. The whole meme coin craze is just dumb.

People thinking they will get rich instantly is such a joke.

    • +1

The devs running the show get rich instantly, as do a few people lucky enough to buy in early. Everyone else loses.

      • +2

People are dumb enough to pump money into it honestly they deserve to lose it. Plenty of information out there telling people not do "invest" in meme coins. You're better off investing in pokemon cards.

      • +3

Soon as it hits reddit or the news…..you are too late

  • +1

Someone launched MELANIA coin, and…. its crashed.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/1i59zah/honey_wak…

It's like we're living in a Black Mirror episode.

    • +3

Not someone. It's actually her official meme coin.
      see above

  • Like other meme coins, it's a bunch of crap. This is not a statement on whether or not it will have monetary value, but as far as utility and 'having a point' go, it's just more junk. Making it'll go nuclear like Dogecoin, idk.

  • +1

Thinly veiled bribery vehicle, easy way to bypass any sort of legalities.

Same with Truth Social, its a garbage company that makes no sense to individuals. However its a great way to receive bribes, Trump will out of office and/or dead before any action is taken, if any.

Time to fire up that photocopier in the toilet and start selling state secrets again, its the only Trump business that's come close to profitability.

    • +3

Trump has the power to hinder any FCC investigation into what he's doing. He's ushered in a new age of American politics. Facts don't matter, the truth is whatever you want it to be, bribery is great.

    • +9

Trump must be a time traveler. He's not inaugurated yet, and didn't negotiate a temporary ceasefire in the Hamas/Israel war, but somehow he gets the credit.

For Trump's next feat, he'll stop the Ukraine-Russia war in 24 hours, like he promised.
      https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-01-11/trump-waters-down-ukr…

      • +4

Sure, but let's take a moment to recognize Trying2Save has coined the phrase "woke-nutters" to describe a group of (fictional) people who, if they existed, hate Trump so much they would want the Israel/Palestine bloodshed to continue purely out of spite for him.

Magical thinking at its (unfortunate) finest.

We are living in the absolute worst timeline…

    • Proponents of Remedial Chaos Theory may even go so far as to say it's The Darkest Timeline…

I would hate to be a journo for the onion

even the most wild crazy stories are now all true

    • -1

Worse case scenario is you can delete all social media and news apps. Hide under a rock for 4 years and wait it out. Either that or K Y S.

  • he'd sell his own mother (if she were still alive) The man has no shame, but there are no shortages of suckers to pour cash into his coffers

  • -2

    honestly kjind of based

  • -3

My friend saw it shortly after launch and put in $35k. He cashed out over $1.2 million last night, and if he held half a day longer he'd have closer to $2 million. I've seen lots of traders wallets (not insiders) that made 8 figures. There's no point in hating the game, this administration is pro crypto and you'd be stupid to sit out.

    • +10

      It's always someones friend tho isn't it…

      • -5

        https://imgur.com/a/xxhXVjz

I made a nice little profit too, not as impressive but I felt obliged to share a different perspective that a lot of people made life changing money. You can keep calling everything a scam or you can take a closer look and ask yourself why you're missing out. Bitcoin to $150k this year, I'm betting big!

        • 🤣 well that screenshot means nada

          • @KangaDrew: Nothing would convince you, doesn't matter to me.

            • @Ononono: You may as well write a number on a piece of paper and hold it up for the camera 🤦🏻‍♂️

              • -1

@KangaDrew: I have no reason to lie, it doesn't matter to me. You can believe whatever makes you feel better.

        • +2

Just because you made money off a scam doesn't mean it's not a scam lol

        • @ATO this guy

      • +1

        It's always someones friend tho isn't it…

Not the same friend who had the car accident without insurance.

    • -1

math doesn't work out on that one

      • -1

You'll need to show your work

        • -2

It didn't increase 3000%. If you're gonna lie at least make it believable.

          • +2

@Purp: It launched around $1 and went up to $74. He bought and sold somewhere between those levels, what are you confused about?

      • +2

1.2m is 60% of 2m. If the top is around $70 USD ($112 AUD), the exit is around $42 ($67 AUD)
        1.2m / 67 is 17,900
        $35k / 17.9k is 1.95
or around $1.20 USD entry..which was shortly after creation. You'd have to be really f'ing quick to catch that though.

WTF did I bother with this?
Technically I could find a basket of people who bought and sold at those times for that amount and find the wallet address. I've done such things in the past for copy-trading, but I'm not getting paid for this.

    • -1

      A friend eh? Okay.

Does this friend also share their huge losses with you? No? Does the friend only ever have huge wins? Gamblers are like that.

      • He does share losses, crypto trading is not for the faint of heart and many lose money. It's a steep learning curve and risky with elements of gambling like any investment.

        • I hope your friend cashed in the chips. TRUMP has fallen more than 50% from its peak, and looks like it's on a downward trajectory. Your friend could be down several hundred K right now from where they were.

    • +2

Made a couple hundred yesterday on trump coin and got out and today made a bit on Melania and jumped out as well. Didn't get the lowest entries or biggest highs but was still easy as hell to skim and put it back into my stack already.
Have an eye on his world liberty financial thing, he's been hoovering up ETH lately with these gains so something might be going on there.

  • +1

Made some $. Just gotta go in and and out. Don’t linger with meme coins

  • 80% Of the tokens held in one account? What could possibly go wrong!!??

There was money to be made at the very beginning, now you're playing Russian Roulette investing.

Probably will get to $100 but I wouldn't touch it now. Risk/reward just isn't there.

  • +1

Crypto's main utility is scamming, regardless of what Ponzi pumping influencers say and Mr President is leading by example.

  • When can trump company start selling? Does anyone know?

    • The tokens are locked and vested over 3 years, starting in 3 months.

      • Nobody really believes they are actually 'locked'

      • +2

The tokens from declared wallets are locked. There is nothing stopping insiders having wallets they don't let everyone know about.

  • -5

I wish Trump would Make Albo Go Away 😭

    • Where did Albo hurt you, and why would.an American fraudster care to help?

  • Now there’s Melania coin too!

    • That's yesterday's news

  • +1

Epitomises the whole crypto industry. It is all just a scam riddled Ponzi scheme for gambling as it has always been

  • +1

OMG I just heard ERIC coins launches today!!! I'm going all in. I just sold my car for cash to maximise my return.
