A ~30% price increase from Disney up from $139.99 per year.
Seems to apply from today onwards on your next billing date.

Actually still cannot believe they (Disney) even tried it on - seen some wild defences but that was next level lol
Argghhhhh that's no good matey
Yar har, fiddle-de-dee.
How else can they afford to bring us such memorable titles like The Acolyte?
The power of one! The power of two! The power of mannnnnny price rises!
Obviously this is so they can add episode 1 rewatching to their list of features
Scrolled looking for this comment. Wasn't disappointed. Would scroll again.
As predicted by original15.
Who could've guessed when they stopped selling BluRay and DVDs in Australia that they would jack up the price of their streaming service
TIL people still buy BluRay and DVDs. I don't have a BluRay or DVD player in my house!
No PS3/4/5 or Xbox One/Series disc variant in your house? Even with that username?
Other than optical drives on computers and a PS2 way back I've never had bluray or DVD.
Nope. Not a gamer. 0 Gaming Consoles in my house. I am a geek in other ways.
Me too, it's been years since I had anything other than a soundbar connected to my TV
Well now you know.
If you want the best picture & audio quality 4K BluRay is the only way to watch anything.
Yalls not watching lion king on vhs?
Just the Little Mermaid.
Titanic 4 lyf
You will own nothing and love it!
What can you watch there anyway? They don't have much new stuffs fast enough. I stopped my sub a long time ago.
A lot cheaper with streamio.
I thought that got shut down?
🤣
How much cheaper?
Much much
The only problem I have just realised is that Stremio doesn't work on IOS devices and my daughters screamed blue murder when I just told them I am cancelling Disney+ as they watch it on their macbooks and ipads.
It can be done with a workaround, just just the direct app
Any links on guides to do this?
@mhz: (Copied and pasted what I read)
This is July 2nd 2024 - I got it working!
NOTE:
-I have subscribed to real debrid (android devices all working)
-You don't need to have any other devices turned on while streaming it to your iOS devices
Hope that helps :-)
Lol
We cancelled before the previous increase and their password sharing crackdown. Decision well made.
Website currently shows $139.99 for 1080p and $179.99 for 4k - https://www.disneyplus.com/en-au and it looks like that's the pricing since March 2024?
So you don't see $139.99 option during renewal now?
Yeah I almost fell for this too. I think what they've done is created a lower tier (at the old price) and by default people will therefore wear the price increase if they're not paying attention. I just changed my sub to the lower tier as I don't care about the resolution. Pretty sneaky though.
yes, but looks like it happened 10 months ago, not now

That was until March 2024, with the rollout of the new Premium subscription tier across Australia and New Zealand that hikes up the price of the previous Standard offering. This means current subscribers will lose out on some of Disney Plus’ benefits, including four screens and 4K streaming.
Be aware, the difference is not just resolution. You also can only download things on the premium $180 subscription. This is a big feature for travelling with little ones.
A 28% price increase is absurd so I cancelled and will find what I want in other ways.
Oh cheers, good pickup. I think I can live without downloads but you're right it would've bit me in the butt!
Not new. Not 'again'. This change happened getting close to 12 months ago now. Annual subs just weren't affected til their next renewal.
I have Hulu for the 99¢ US per month and when I want Disney I just add the ad supported version for around $1.99usd for the month I want it… That's about all it's worth in my book. Getflix DNS works a treat for both from a lifetime plan I got maybe a decade or so ago.
Haha. I still have the getflix lifetime plan too. Glad to hear it still works. Haven't used it in so long.
Those were the days. I remember grabbing 12 month hulu and netflix vouchers off eBay for peanuts. Long before most aussies had heard of netflix. Back when quickflix was the Australian streaming company… Whatever happened to Quickflix? I think they even signed a deal with HBO but even GoT couldn't save them.
Yes!!! I used to love quickflix. They were awesome. I totally forgot them. So cool
Time to start flying the pirate flag and show these disgusting companies 💪🏼
Can they still kill you while limiting your legal options to arbitration?
