Handy for sim sluts who want a break from porting every month / 28 days because this can last 3 months for $9 per month.

    • +2

      Wasn't the Catch connect $109 for a year only $1 more expensive ?… $9 x 12 = $108 and no need to sim slut for a year.

      • +1

Some don't like buying 12 month plans. Also this offers the potential for more $20 referrals. If you manage to get a 2nd one then it's almost paid for itself and so on.

      • +2

Catch isn’t on Telstra network, I know here in Melbourne there are many suburbs where indoor reception esp for data is horrible on other networks, I get amazing 5g coverage outdoors from all of them but go inside and it drops out regularly for no apparent reason on anything but Telstra so I’m always willing to pay a premium for Belong/Boost/Aldi mobile offers
WWs mobile also used to use Telstra but I haven’t used them for years so not sure if they still are or off there are any new MVNOs that use Telstra.
It’s a real shame as there are some awesome offers that pop up on the Optus network esp

        • I found Telstra MVNOs (tried Woolies/Belong) have quite a bit worse receptions compare to Boost on the train lines (esp. in tunnel), or deep in middle of a shopping center.

      • you have a point, but this way it would get you much more data.

  • Has anyone hit the 20 referral limit on belong?

    • +1

Not yet, I'm up to 8 since Jun '23. It says up to $200, so we'll see.

    • +1

Yes you just need to port out and rejoin using a new email address and your referrals reset even if you keep the same number. It used to be 10x referrals limit, didn’t realise it had increased to 20 that’s pretty cool.

  • Can you get the referral if you were with Belong previously?

    • Yes, with a new email address.

      • Can you use the same email address but with a " . " somewhere in it?

        • +1

Yes that worked for me early last year with Gmail.

    • -1

You need to use a new email address and a new payment method to sign up.

      • Thanks

      • @jimojr can you point me to where it says you need a new payment method? Everyone else seems to say you just need a new email address

        • When I used the same credit card, I received the following message: "Something went wrong. Please try again." This issue has been occurring for many years.

  • If you go for the $55 plan when you sign up. do you get the extra 80gb data straight away?

  • E-sim is still a no go on Belong, isn’t it?

    • +1

      Correct, says coming soon

  • The Officeworks in Perth CBD had a different packaging 'Big Gig Energy' design with the 160GB crossed out, 240GB for $55/month. Same $27 price.

    • Coles I bought one at had a promo label over the sim cards saying the same thing. Searching the web found Finder.com.au saying that the extra data promo needs to be activated by 12-Jan-2024, so this deal may expire sooner than expected.

I'm concerned that starting on a high plan with extra data then dropping plan will lose the 12mth bonus data on lower plans, but will deal with that if it happens.

  • Can I port in from Telstra? I remember I've seen some rules about we can't port in within the same service provider. I don't remember the details though

BTW, we can use GC to buy sim cards, right?

  • was going to say sim whore heaven

  • Can I use the sim dollar to use $15 data only plan mobile broadband

    • Don't think do. These say 'mobile Sim' on the packaging. You'll need a 'data sim'

    • Yes, I did two on 1 Jan 2025, but remember to select to correct plan, in default, it will always select the most expensive plan.

  • FYI I activated extra data just now (12/01) so may end midnight 12/01 ?

  • Can these be added to existing/current Belong plans?

  • I have a stupid question
If I just buy this and put it in a phone does it have an expiry, ie will it stop working after 28 days? Can't find this anywhere in the details

    • -1

you need to active it to use, expiry depends on the payment you made, expires around 1 month after you do not make the payment.
SOS only without activation and put it in a phone.

      • Thanks for the reply. I understand I need to activate it.

What I mean is if I put it in a phone and activate it and then don't make any more payments will it expire after a month, or will it last 3 months?

        • +1

While this is prepaid it's ongoing. In other words during the activation process you're required to enter a credit card or paypal for future automatic payment every month. The only way to stop this is cancel your account which can be done via the app or contacting them or simply port out.

If you want a sim with minimal ongoing costs I would suggest Amaysim PAYG plan.

          • @WatchNerd: Belong is not prepaid. It's postpaid. It doesn't look like it is, but it is. You also get an account number and when you port out to another provider you have to input that account number for the port to work.

  • Can you use a Belong SIM in a Telstra wi-fi hotspot?

    • +1

most of the telstra mifi nowadays are unlocked, yes for those.
some old 4g mifi which are locked to telstra, no. But you can contact telstra to get a unlock code.

      • I believe mine is still locked. It’s an MF910Y.

  • Can this be delivered for free with Onepass from either Cole's or Officeworks?

  • I've been with Belong for over a year now and I have noticed a considerable drop in their reception over the last few months. Has anyone else noticed this? I live in Inner Brisbane and I need to constantly connect my phone on wifi at home with only 1-2 bars most of the time! Lame.

Thanks OP, that sorts me out for the next 3 months. Plenty in stock at OW Newcastle

  • Seems like Belong didn't extend their double data for 12 months off, should have seen this on Sat/Sun probs could have got one, I thought this Sim was only on sale at jbhifi online.

  • I don’t get the logic in one of the first posts:-

    Quote:
    So $55 + $20 equals $75 credit.

    1st month $30 (25GB) - 2nd month $21 (7GB) - 3rd month $21 (7GB) - Total $72 unquote.

That’s $3 credit. How does this equate to $9/month for first three months, mentioned in a follow up post? Should it not be credit $1 per month for three months or am I missing something?

    • +1

You paid $27 for a credit of $55 sim pack + referral bonus $20 that last 3 months.

Likely ignore the remain credits as it will be cheaper to port out and port in again with the same pack but with different referral.

If you top up to $21 for another month, you need to spend another $18 for that extra month.
