Turbo version for $269 (with $30 off coupon) also pretty good for the Snapdragon processor upgrade.

    • +1

You did notice what you lose with the "upgrade" didn't you?

Like 4G. It is wifi only. Plus no fingerprint or facial recognition.

      • +8

        Not an issue for me

      • +1

Isn't this unit likely to be network blocked with the 3g shutdown?

        • +1

I thought so too but my wife's mini 50 pro is still going strong on the Optus network whereas several of my older phones have been blocked

      • +2

I suppose that the facial recognition is a gimmick and should not be relied on. But fingerprint reader is an useful feature.

  • +3

Would highly recommend waiting for the next Aliexpress sale (whenever it is) as you can get the Turbo version for roughly the same price as this here.

  • +1

Unlikely that telcos will allow something like this on their restricted networks if they're blocking normal phone models.

    • Should be fine as they are only blocking mobile phones and not tablets/other cellular devices.

  • +5

    Supported bands:
    WCDMA: B1, B2, B5, B8
    FDD: B1, B2, B3, B5, B7, B8, B28
    TDD: B38, B39, B40, B41

    • I'm wary of getting imported 4G devices after the Telcos/ACMA decided to not allow some on the network under the guise of the 3G shutoff.

      • +1

        Optus works with these ones

  • Iplay 70 ultra will launch sometimes in Feb with SD 7+ Gen 3. Price unknown but possibly ~450 AUD. We might see prices drop a bit on these 60 devices.

    • +2

At that point how would it compare to a 2023 Y700?

      • I don't know anything about the iplay 70 ultra but I have the Lenovo Y700 2023 model and love it. Never had a slow down issue, boots in less than 12 seconds and charges very quickly. The screen, although LCD is beautiful and great to watch movies on. Love the size. Not bulky and easy to hold. I don't game on it though. Prices haven't dropped a lot though.

        • +1

The battery bypass feature makes the Y700 great too. It’s a feature that should be on all tablets to increase battery longevity.

  • +1

How is the OS/Security update support for this?

Also hear inconsistent quality, some warped/major screen bleed. pot luck?

    Random crashes too?

    • +2

Non existent. I own an alldocube tablet, not one update.

    • +1

My iPlay50 has had minimal updates. I think its quality is passable, crashes are very rare.

    • Plenty of reviews on Reddit and YouTube. Lack of support and quality control seem to be issues. From that I’d rather take a gamble on a refurbished iPad mini 5 when they are on sale for ~$250. I guess there will always be the trade offs to get a new device at this price point. Samsung A9 is similar, it’ll win in software support but lose out in the hardware. Too bad there wasn’t an Android tablet (mini size) with this hardware and Samsung update policy.

  • With a name containing "Docu", i thought this was a specialised tablet for ebook and documentation.

    • I was thinking mini golf

  • I wonder if this is good to use as a Moonlight client, stream games to it from PC?

    • +1

I read the wifi performance of the previous model was atrocious. Wonder if they improved it at all?

  • Do these still have shit wifi?

  • +5

Just a heads up for anyone thinking about an alldocube, I got one to use as a GPS/headunit for my car & the GPS software is busted, every time it wakes up it can take 5-10 minutes for it to detect that it has GPS at all, its bluetooth is also unreliable. There will NEVER be a software update for them either.

These are useful only as kids tablets.

  • Surprised no one is taking the Telcos/ACMA to task regarding this. Has this issue even been brought up in the senate ?

  • I confirm that mine works on Boost. I use this as my backup 'phone'.

    • have you ever tried hotspot/tethering, if so how is it?

  • Mine is still going strong after 2 years. I'm using it to hotspot for the last two months. It's been doing really well

  • +3

    With 16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB virtual RAM)

Anyone else old enough to remember the "RAM Doubler" applications in the DOS days? What a sham this is. Just say it has 8GB of RAM (which is fine for a cheap device).

    • I thought 16GB was an odd pairing with 128GB.
