not even an M3 chip ?

    • +1

      or at least an M4

      • haven't launched the M4 macbook air yet? Think its due early 2025

  • This or surface 7?

    • This is so good mate, this feels twice faster than any windows device I've ever used.

        Thinkpad

        • +6

no need to think.. Mac wins on battery life and performance.. windows is a problem and needs fixing.

I’d get one of these tomorrow for our couch computer if it had a touch screen. Wife doesn’t like my MBP because of that.

    • +1

      Neither lol.

    • Depends on what you are using it for?

  • -2

People can't even sell these for AUD 800 on FB Marketplace nowadays lol.

    • What's wrong with them?

      • +1

I didn't say anything was wrong with them except people just don't want to pay AUD 800 for them right now. You'll see a lot going for AUD 1200 or so but no buyers at all. I call them delusionellers.

256Gb SSD is very small for a laptop

        • +1

Not if you live in the cloud

          • @cycloneaussie: renting cloud space is expensive, and a recurring cost over time.

It can be cheaper to buy a bigger SSD up front. Or an external hard drive.

      • +3

        it's a 2.5yr old computer.

$200 more for the new & vastly superior M3 chip

        https://www.costco.com.au/Computers/Laptops/Apple-MacBooks/M…

        • -1

People like paying for old Apple tech at a small discount on the current product, it’s bizarre. I love my 7 yr old Air, but I’d never replace it with a 2.5yr old one out of the box

        • +1

no real noticeable difference to everyday uses

        • Vastly superior?

          • -1

@drillvoice: remember back in the humble days when Apple wasn't just about numbers and spec? how the crowd have shifted

      • +3

Most likely they're the 8GB model.

        • 16gb according to the specifications

          • +2

@tarkine: i think he means $800 for the 8gb models on FB market place

    • +3

Sounds like sellers aren’t accepting someone’s $800 offer for an M2 Air

    • +1

Do you have a link for a $800 16GB RAM Macbook Air M2?

      • +1

If any link appears, it’s a sure fire way to get robbed or scammed. Nobody is selling that spec for $800 unless stolen.

  • +1

Just got it price matched from OW paid about $1280ish. Plenty enough for the high school.

  • +1

Can someone explain the 10% of giftcards part?

    • I second this. How do you get a 10% with gift cards?

      • OW wanted to be paid over the phone using CC…

    • +1

It's expired but explains how - link

  • Got this for $1200-$1220 (can't remember exactly), price matching to Costco by Officeworks

  • The price isn't that great - I bought the same model from JB Hifi for $1317 in late November and then used gift cards for a further discount.

    • -1

can u sell me a time machine?

      • Haha of course…

Anyway, my point was it really isn't that great of a deal. Same reason why I didn't post it as a bargain back in late November.

  • CostCo is undercutting Officeworks on all the Macbook Airs. I got an M3 16/256 for $1,425 with an OW pricebeat in November for the partner for Xmas. If I hadn't I'd be really tempted to get OW to pricebeat an M3 24/512 for me.
