Philips 3000 Series Pedestal Fan (Black) $119 + $9.99 Delivery ($0 C&C/ In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

700

I had this fan and love it. Not enough to marry it though.
The fan is pretty quiet though I still got a hum on the lowest settings. Probably due to frequency interference from my power supply. It has wifi and an app. Great for when you forget to turn it off and have left the room. No HomeKit support sadly.
I paid $30 more back in September at DJs.

  • FWIW, I bought a couple of "Stirling" fans from Aldi a few years back. DC. 15 speed. Remote control. Apart from changing the power supply on 1 of them, they have been very good. Not sure if you can get em now though.

    • man that looks cool yea.. i think i'll skip this fan.. expensive and basic.. wait for a decent dc fan to go on sale hehe

That's the same model that Bunnings sells as "Arlec Grid Connect" however you gotta be quick, they don't seem to stock them all year.

Has basic functionality working with home assistant (you can turn it on / off change the modes). They don't seem to have worked out syncing the status so you probably can't do automations very well.

    Install via HACS https://github.com/kongo09/philips-airpurifier-coap

  • I don't care about the brand if it is not a DC motor.
All my fans are currently DC motors, which have worked reliably for years. There is no looking back.

    • Bought a cheap DC from bunnings, went back yesterday. Lowest level was too high and very noisy. They somehow made a DC with the same issues as cheap AC…

I've ordered from Amazon thanks Op

  • I still prefer DC fans at this price, got Xiaomi Smartmi DC Conversion Pedestal Fan 2 under $100 4-5 years ago, still running as new (cheap AC fans will get noisier after first year, this one still as quiet as new).

    • It appears to be Kogan's version of the Xiaomi

      • does that make it a good choice?

it looks to be better than the Philips, for $30 more.

        • Totally, you're getting DC motor and battery. The Xiaomi battery is rated at 18 hours on speed one, much longer than the Kogan at 8.5 hours. Doesn't matter anyway as we can't easily source the Xiaomi. Found it here $145 plus $1,104 shipping

          • @sumyungguy: I thought you were joking about the shipping -_-

          • @sumyungguy: I don't suppose you know whether it can be run on wall power and just pretend the battery doesn't exist? Their cheaper rechargeable DC fan specifically says not to use it while charging but nothing about that on this one.

            • @Aleigh123: I dunno, mine are all Xiaomi and the battery ones run on mains while recharging.

  • The DC fan I bought has zero hum, fell forward due to kids and survived. Built like a tank, paid 50 😂

    • Hi there — could you please share the model? I'm looking for a DC fan.

Viomi smart home fan, I couldn't find a model number, its a damn good fan. One 1% speed, there's zero hum, zero noise, you still feel the air. Perfect fan. App controls are the best.

  • Is this actually worth $120

  • I will go to war over the Kogan DC fan. Thing is incredibly quiet and very powerful.

Only issue is that it seems to timeout after like 12 hours of usage lol.

    • link?

Whats the best DC fan or quietest.. and with a slow arse fan setting - which for some reason no manufacture wants to include.

I'd suggest the Xiaomi with 100 speed increments, if it ever comes back into stock; Vornado 633DC if you have a use case for an air circulator; yarratwo with 100 speeds is worth a look.

  • No stock in WA on JB Hi-fi

Amazon is shipping in 2 weeks

  • It's a decent fan for the price, definitely wouldn't recommend the fan at the normal price.

    Cons: It's not height adjustable.

My old fan wast the << Mitsubishi 40cm Pedestal Fan with Remote LV16S-RA-P CY-GY Classy Grey>>, which retailed for $180-200 at Hardly Normal. It lasted me 3 years before I had to move away. It didn't have an app, but felt like it moved more air, was larger, and overall performed better. The fan blade was very, very impressive. I don't know if it was 60-80$ better than this fan or others; however, it was a very, very impressive piece of equipment.

Fun fact, Mitsubishi used to design planes during the War, so the fan blade technology is pretty good.
