Probably one the cheapest wifi plug with energy monitoring that has AU safety standards and local store warranty.

Oh, and yes it is slim. You can fit two of these side by side in a standard double power point.

      Solid budget smart plug

One of the cheapest smart plugs I've seen, which works great. Other reviews mentioned pairing issues, but it's a Tuya / SmartLife plug under the hood so will work with those apps or any of the other rebranded versions of those apps - I didn't try the EKO app, but had no issues pairing in SmartLife app. Doesn't make a whining noise like other cheap plugs I've tried and the small size means it doesn't block the powerpoints on either side. Good value for money.

I’ve had a bunch of these - the most I’ve got out of them has been ~12 months before the kicked the bucket..

    • likewise.. it worked well when it worked, now they're dead. replaced them with some tplink ones

      • Had the same experience

      • Watch out, same experience with the TP Link P110! Have had 100% failure rate with them

        • ah man dont tell me that. whats the most reliable option??

          • @jztilly: Honestly after the second dead P110 and a dead power supply off one of them I just gave up with smart plugs!

I’m pretty convinced it’s one of those you get what you pay for type of thing…

Does it occupy space for two outlets?

Even the hangry ppl negging you knew what you meant, but on Ozb you have to nurse them through it with specific wording, like, 'does it's overall width impact the plug hole next door'.

      • Haha … so weird down voting me for a Question

        • Probably because the answer to your question is in OP's description, which was available before you commented (I didn't neg you, but I can see why)

I bought 3 of these, they all failed shortly after the warranty expired (12 months). Do not recommend.

Nothing against you OP, I just don't trust these EKO plugs

These cheap Tuya smart plugs are terrible! It will ruin certain appliances or electronics after they fail. It will start to non-stop turn on and off every few seconds.

    • exactly what mine are doing. dont bother with these

It has to be some sort of flaw in the design of these devices. I've got a bunch of meross plugs and globes that have the same failure mode. When I've opened them up its always a failed 470uF 10V capacitor.

    • That's what 90% of all failed ones do. Every generation of Kogan 100% failure (lasted years though) EXCEPT the single adapter with Tasmota flashed. It's fine! 8 failures in last 6wks of 2024 +4 bulbs, bunch of cams. Insane qty of failures last year so I sent this to support asking them if I should process a single RMA or one per device because without regard for warranty status that is a abnormal level of failure. I'm yet to hear back hahah!
Coincidence? Or killer FW update sent out so everyone buys the new gen?

  • dont buy they will die in no time within months. Bought about 8 last time. All failed.

  • Lots of negatives about these units. Does anyone recommend any alternatives? Also, what’s the best way to keep these devices separated on the home network?

$16 on Amazon, could try price match with Bunnings to get a further 10% off.
Can put them on guest WiFi if you like.

      • Would not recommend these either, have had 100% failure (rapid clicking). Killed a power supply in my htpc

        • Sorry to hear that. I'm using on Meross garage door module that has low power draw to power cycle it each day. Won't try my luck on air fryers or anything with high energy use. Also got the Tapo P100 as don't need power usage monitoring.

  • These are now $7!!
