      I checked the rules before posting. It said that we can promote businesses we're associated with, but we need to make sure that we disclose the association.

        I think they're probably calling you out for not highlighting any deals in the post title.

        @UFO, you might want to actually help by letting them know what's wrong, rather than just being a dick about it.

        • Ahh, gotcha.

          TBH, I only really use Ozbargain to get whatever the latest coupon codes for eBay are, so didn't realise we were meant to highlight a specific product. Is there a better way to highlight a sale like this?

          We've got quite a few genuinely good deals (like genuine refurbed GameCube controllers for ~$35, dirt cheap Vita memory cards etc.), so don't want to spam and make 10 different threads for all of the different products.

            @chris-56bits: heya, yeah usually in the description area, you might want to add a few items that you view are "deals". This creates a bit more trust in your deal that you can actually get something at a good price.
            The issue is every man and their dog has a site that sells things and make a 20% coupon by increasing their price a little and then tries to use ozbargain as advertising. But as a deal site I don't think anyone trusts %off anymore. The deal is what product comes off as a good(deal) price to most.

              @trustnoone: Glad you had the time to type all that out. I get sick and tired of daily spammers who can't read.

            @chris-56bits:

            genuine refurbed GameCube controllers for ~$35

            That is a good deal!

        All the neggers negging away with no clue on posting rules. (I didn't even neg the deal, just reported the Learner on posting rules!)

        But where's the actual pricing? "20% off" what? A million dollars?

        Rule #1 - STATE THE PRODUCT!
        Rule #2 - STATE THE PRICE!

          Deals use to get deleted all the time for having no actual deal posted. Not anymore. Mods leave almost everything up to “let the community decide” but then the voting system actively discourages people from neg voting. It’s a joke.

            @PainToad: 100%… definitely gone down hill

          • -2

            @PainToad:

            to “let the community decide”

            It is a joke.

            The worse joke is the stooges who come out of the woodwork to decry warranted and valid negging that is within neg guidelines. Often - are also ones who also have contributed next to nothing of use to this community.

          • @PainToad:

            Deals use to get deleted all the time for having no actual deal posted.

            That's incorrect, deals with a dedicated discount percentage, eg x% off sitewide were never removed. Only 'up to x% off' deals are removed as 'no bargain listed'.

            The most popular deal on OzBargain (until 2019) was just that:

            18% off eBay Site Wide - Thursday 21st September 6pm - 10pm (Min $75 Spend, Max $500 Discount).

            If you read the actual guidelines, it explains that:

            Deal posts that reference a sale, catalogue or store but don't provide enough information to find at least one bargain, may be unpublished. Deal posts that contains ambiguous or non descriptive titles such as 'up to 50% off sale', 'big clearance' or 'sale' may be unpublished unless specific items & prices are mentioned within the deal description OR a dedicated offer/discount such as '50% off sale' is present (preferably in the title).

            Edit Stats: October 2019 - 11.8% of deals removed (3412 published, 454 removed), no bargain listed = 21 of them (0.54% of them). October 2024 - 10.3% of deals removed (2871 published, 329 removed), no bargain listed = 18 of them (0.53% of them). No difference over 5 years in % removed. No evidence of 'Deals use to get deleted all the time for having no actual deal posted'.

            Going further back, we used to actually delete less, not more. For example this deal from 2014 WorkwearHub.com.au - Up to 70% Off Workwear & Boots, would be removed nowadays as no bargain listed, 'up to x% off' with no bargain listed. And it was and has always been up to the community to decide what is a deal or not, example from 2011.

            @BargainsGrabber:

            because you weren’t being helpful by listing out what’s needed

            They told them the information was in the rules. Why should they have to quote the rules?

              • +1

                @BargainsGrabber:

                The original title is one of the decent ones that had some effort put into it, compared to those that put emojis etc into titles

                UFO didn’t say there was anything wrong with the title. They’re saying there’s meant to be actual examples of specific products on special. Having a good title doesn’t change that.

          • -4

            @BargainsGrabber: hahahaha… you've got to be kidding. Caps when stating rules is now offensive?!? Hahaha… come on mate, you're having a joke right?

            Do you not see how many spam deals are posted on this site because people don't bother to read the rules?
            And you're more concerned with caps?

              • -3

                @BargainsGrabber: OzBargain going downhill?

                You've been here for what, a couple years? But yeah… TELL ME MORE ABOUT CAPS ;).

                Where's JV when I need them? :)

                (good job unpublishing everything… probably for the best)

    On topic. Prices look reasonable. Good luck with the new business OP 👍
