  • Also worth considering: updated Philips 240V GU10 spots, same narrow (40 degree) beam angle, power consumption down from 5.7 to 4.2 wattts, standby power halved, lifespan up from 15,000 hours to 25,000 hours, 400 lumens at 4,000 Kelvin, standard white 2,700 Kelvin is 50% brighter

    Each? Or is this a typo & it's a pack of 10?

  • Isn’t 49 too much for a smart light!!!

I spent a few hours tonight looking at this offer, and I've discovered a few things:

MR16 is the body style but GU5.3 (bi-pin) is the connector.

My apartment is full of EcoMatters MR500 (500 lumens) which must have been installed by those LED door to door salespeople with the Victorian govt rebate, before I bought this apartment.

12x of these Hue replacements would cost me $600

However, the UK has the same MR16 connector, but they run at 400 lumens while we get screwed, the Australia tax is now taxing our lumens!

I can order the 400 lumens on Amazon from UK stock for $156 for two ($78 each). Amazon Germany also has individual ones for $78.

USA site has 430 lumens…. but too risky due to voltage: https://www.philips-hue.com/en-us/p/hue-white-and-color-ambi…

    Other options?

    Osram - 350 lumens
    Ikea - doesn't have GU5.3 (bi-pin)
Ledeply - says 800 lumens, only sold on Amazon and Newegg, with poor QA and review

Others are wifi only, not hub friendly.

    • For an apartment with 2400mm ceilings you may prefer a 60 degree beam angle; upgrade pathway may be 240V Philips Garnea

  • Not sure why you would need/want colour ambience for main lights TBH. Much better to have colour in accent lighting IMO.

Plus 320lm isn't particularly bright so you would notice the difference immediately in everday use.
