  • Wish this kind of thing worked for rolling code automatic swing gates!

  • Would this work with merlin? My model is Merlin MS105MYQ

    • Yep Merlin MS105MYQ is relatively recent model, and from the look of it, you'd use the terminals where the push button is by default (appears to be Terminal 1 & 2).

    • Compatibility checker on their website says yes

  • I made my own garage opener a few years ago using a smart plug that operates a relay which briefly shorts the contacts of the wall button. I have reed switches for open and closed sensing.

I operate it via Google Home and Home Assistant.

Would the Meross give me any extra cool features ?

    • Nah it's got it's own app, nothing apart from open and close and scheduled close!

    • +1

There are a few notifications: door opening, opened, closing, closed, overtime 10–60min, overnight reminder
And automations: overtime close, fixed time close

    • Cheers. Guess I'll stick with my setup.

  • +1

I use this with "okay Google". Works perfectly with closing the garage but fails 9/10 times with opening due to problems with the pin. It asks for the pin but then doesn't listen to my response. I've tried disabling the pin requirement but it then gives an error saying it needs a pin. Any idea on a solution?

  • I have this - super easy to install. It's very good.

  • Does anyone know if it works on bluetooth? Or maybe hotspot from phone?

  • The cheaper gaeage door module isnt compatible with homekit correct?

    • +1

The more expensive one is now the cheaper one! There’s two options, the HomeKit is the more expensive one that is going cheaper at the moment.

  • Work with outdoor garage doors?

    • +1

Yes as long as there’s good wifi signal

      • Sorry I should’ve said - without any cover? Exposed to the elements.

  • Pulled the trigger. Not sure how to even connect & use..

  • thanks ordered one

  • FYI. You cannot install esphome or tasmota on these devices.

  • Do these break after a year like the tapo/arlec/Mirabella plugs?

  • Just had mine delivered today and finished installing it. Its fantastic with HomeKit. Just dont tell it close or open while its in the process. Youll have to goto your app and shut/open it.

  • Lots of mixed reviews from people on this, is there an alternative?

    I want HomeKit compatible
    Use with Siri to unlock
Warning door has been left unlocked for long time
Full remove access to open and close

  • Does the WiFi need to be connected to the internet? I have a garage door in the basement with no mobile reception. It would be handy to have a hotspot in there so I can open the door when my phone connects to the hotspot.

  • Okay, I need some assistance with this please.

I successfully installed the Meross unit on my Automatic GDO-9 Dynamo garage door unit. The installation process was relatively smooth, taking about 15 minutes. The unit functions well.

However, I’m facing a few issues:

    1. During installation, I opted for the HomeKit method, which resulted in the unit being added to the Home app but not appearing in the Meross app. I’ve tried re-selecting the ‘add a device’ option, but this hasn’t resolved the issue.

    2. On the Home app, the device displays an error message stating, “The garage is obstructed.” Is there a way to fix this error?

    3. Since I don’t have a home hub set up, I’m wondering if there’s a way to share or add the garage door to my wife’s iPhone so that she can use it as well.

      Update:
Figured out point 1 - search device on the Meross app when adding a new device. If you are connected to the same wifi the door opener will pop up on the app. You can then add it from there.

For 2 - Go to Meross App, device settings —> Under Advance settings, click Opening time and change to 25s or 30s (it is set to 10s delafut). This fixed the error.

For 3 - kind of figured out as per my comment below but I think it sucks that if the device is connected to Apple Home app, it will only work if my iPhone is connected to the same wifi network. For example - I drove onto my driveway and I wanted to open the garage. The Home App widget for Garage door button was greyed out. It took few seconds for the App widget to activate the Garage door button. It gets activated when the Home App identifies that your iPhone is connected to the wifi.

This beats the purpose as you can easily use the Meross app and open the door straight away via anywhere or 4g/5g network.

  • Do you need a home hub to be able to control this remotely from outside the home network?

    • +1

I have been doing some reading and the answer to this question is -
Yes, if you are only using this garage door unit via Apple Home.

No, if you have this unit connected via the Meross App.

Note - you can have both, add this unit to the Apple Home app, connect to Home Kit Hub (or whatever it is called!) and to the Meross App.

I haven’t set up the home kit hub. Just added to Home App and Meross app.

  • Is this compatible with B&D Controll-a-door Power Drive garage opener?

  • $49.13 for the non homekit version from UK store. https://amzn.asia/d/7cseWSI special offer at the moment.

  • Thanks OP. Been eyeing one for a long time now and was able to put it on my garage door no issues! So nice to have it on my Siri home app and CarPlay. No issues so far, only abit wonky when you force stop it while the door is opening/closing, takes a while for it to register the state and action.

Ps. The main website has the compatibility checker https://www.meross.com/en-gc/mTerminal/compatibility and also their support team email contact is helpful! So if you’re not sure and need help, just get in touch with them.

  • Deals over.

  • Purchased this but no matter what I do the unit says “no response” in apple homekit, seems like a known issue.

Works fine with Meross app and Amazon Alexa
Have tried resetting and rebooting at least 10 times

  • Got mine the other day. Easy to setup and great to use. Worth buying.
