This is pretty standard stuff from health insurance companies. Still trying to figure out if this is a bargain or some kind of advertisement?

    • yes =(

  • no bargin if you're not single or have a family.. works out about $50 a fortnight minimum and that doesn't cover you for much! waste of money!

yes, this is pretty standard nowadays. Go to any private health insurance company and tell them you'll only join if they waive the 6 months waiting period, they are more than happy to take you.

  • Agreed. Not a bargain. I told HBA that I would join on the condition that they waive the waiting period. They did not hesitate. BTW - that was for a family policy.

  • that really comes down to the question "what defines a bargin"?

I've done research on the top private health insurers, looking for a policy that basically have the following things:
    1. covers dental(around $350 a year for 2 washes)
    2. optical around $100 for contact lense
    3. basic therapies, e.g massage, physio, just in case.
    4. can join just "extra covers", ie. u don't need to take out any hospital covers.
    5. cheapest with all those. it comes down to this MBF is the cheapest.

usally this plan is $165.xx, but it's on a special before the end of the year for $2.8 a week, that is $145.6 a year.

see if you can beat that.

  • might be a bargain but just not a very good one.

    • agree. not a big bargin. more of a stating the obvious. but it helps people from research.
