Audio gear lasts many decades (if you buy the right stuff), so I definitely have use for a spare optic fibre cable!

I never fell for the Monster cable scam. As in, pay 10x as much for the same thing by another brand. But yeah look at how it is now.

I'm still using my Toslink $1 fibre optic cable from 2001. Unfortunately still rocking the same Pana TV from 06.

Do modern TVs/ Amps / Soundbars still support Toslink. Surely HDMI is the norm now.

Ebins are full of awesome surround amps (and these cables) and people are replacing with dogs breakfast soundbars. Soundbars are the equivalent of monster cables…

        • Heh. Yeah not sure if they still support Toslink but I think they just call it optical in/out. That’s S/PDIF though? I can’t remember.

But all optical and HDMI are digital signals. You’ll either get a sharp, clear picture with full colour, or you’ll get mostly that with artefacts (blocks) and stuttery sound. Or no picture. But there would need to be a hell of a lot of signal distortion for that to occur. More than even cheapo HDMI cables would exhibit.

  • Max 3 of each per customer. Ordered some, will be handy.

  • Just what everyone needs. Everyone buy 3!

My order is already ready for pickup… sigh, I need help.

Need some sweet sweet monster upsell’s for suckers in store

    • 🤣

  • Don't have a use for 'em, no matter how much it is. It's a relic from the past.

  • +1

Didn't need one, but bought anyways 🤣🤣🤣

  • Thanks man. Bought a bunch as spares. Always come in handy with AV installations.

  • A short RCA to RCA would've been nice for the dac/amp stack, but still good to have these as spares.

  • Have no need for one right now, so I bought two!

    • The OzBargain way!

  • RCA, F-type, toslink … I'm feeling a wave of nostalgia; may have to dust off the LaserDisc or BluRay player, and show the kids how we used to do things.

Do they have any 300 ohm to 75 ohm baluns?

F-type - that's a bit fancy. PAL connectors and composite signal from the C=64 for the win.
