    goty yo!!

    • +14

Should have been Black Myth Wukong

  • +1

Cheers OP!! And free delivery love it !

  • -1

Hope it's as fun as they say and not crap like little big planet

    • +10

It's definitely as fun as they say.
My 4 year old daughter is also loving it. Since I introduced Astros playroom and Astro bot to her. Astro Bot has been her new fav mascot. Goodbye 'hello kitty' and sonic.
Mind you we platinumed this game a few months ago already but it's always replayed.

      • +3

They have new stage of speed run, and just recently new Christmas stage, all free DLC

        • Yeah but I couldn't find the Christmas stage yesterday. I saw the speedrun and will do them :)

    • +4

You mean crap like Sackboy? Little Big Planet was a great game.

      • The first one was good, but all its sequels struggled to innovate on the formula imo.

        • Nah, the second one did that just fine. It was the third that failed at it.

          • @Altashi: The third was a lag fest. I thought it was just my PS3 when the game released on that console not being powerful enough to play it but before the game shutdown I gave it another try on my PS5 and it was the same exact experienced and mind you this test was done years after the game released. Not sure how anyone was able to play it. The first 2 was great (Tho not the multiplayer experience lol).

      • -1

Oh yeah sackboy. Got rave reviews but my kids thought it sucked and never played. I had a go and agreed. There was like zero gameplay unless you liked to collect stickers or something.

      • Ayo don't shit on Sackboy like that. On Vita it was great little game!

        • +1

          You mean LittleBigPlanet on Vita?

  • +5

Ah is finally my turn to complain- I just bought it a week ago thinking the price drop would never come. Oh well. Awesome game! Good post OP.

  • +2

Paid that price on release date. Excellent game

  • +4

Bought this for my two boys for Christmas for $79. Secretly I bought it for me as well. Astros Playroom is the first single player game in a long time thats been genuinely fun and my kids are obsessed. $69 is a bargain.

  • Actually looking for the PS4 vr version at the moment. Bought a 2nd hand of marketplace for the disc to not work on the PS4 :(

    • Maybe the second hand isn’t compatible? 🖐️

    • +2

The one for PS4 VR is called "Astro Bot Rescue Mission" - it's 50% off on PSN at the moment.

This one is Astro Bot, which is PS5 only.

    • +4

that was kind of a "demo" this is a full game and won goty this year.

        • +5

You are still talking about the wrong game, it's not 'Astros playroom' which is the ps5 demo. But if you think it's boring you must be miserable.
For anyone who has played it. They normally say it provides "Joy" and "charm" and pure gaming "happiness".
It's ok to like games that don't always murder others or have mature like themes. There is beauty in simplicity sometimes.

        • As above, you are talking about a different game. That said, if that style of platforming isn't your thing, this likely wouldn't be either.

  • +8

Thanks OP. My 4 year olds twins will love it! Everyday Extra code brings the price down to $62.10.

    • +2

They will, my 4 years old just completed 90% of the game by his own (10% is my fun). :D

      • I think 40% will be my fun lol.

  • +8

    cries into digital only console

    • +5

I bought a disc version and I don’t like the idea of being held to ransom by Sony pricing. I’m surprised Retailers can’t sell digital copies like a gift card with a download code.

    • +2

Ditto - keep thinking of changing over, though in reality I barely use the PS5 compared to my Steam Deck/PC. It would be cheaper to be price gouged on several games.

  • +3

Game of the Year baby! Awesome game.

    • And 100 percent deserved it!!!

      • -2

Black Myth Wukong should have won. This game is too kiddy for my liking

        • -2

No way it's the weakest contender in that list. If not Astro bot the next best would have been metaphor. Wukong was not better than any of the others (maybe except balatro)

          • +3

@maverickjohn: Looks like I attracted the wukong army. Honestly the most petty of community players. Played no other game that contended and expect it to win on their narrow perspective. Thank God the panel had more sense than them

  • +3

    $69. Nice.

    • -3

      It's a kids game though…😱

      • +5

nuh. I've got it. It is most definitely an every human game.

      • Most games are "kids" games.

  • +4

Extra 10% with Everyday Rewards Extra. No brainer. Thanks, OP.

    • +5

You’re thinking of the original demo.

This game is next level good for all ages. Your loss, mate.

        • +9

          You seem quite thick.

  • Serious question, doesn't it come preloaded when you buy a PS5? What am I missing?

    • +3

That is a demo of this game. It's not a full game.

      • +3

I get that saying this is a "demo" is shorthand to explain what's going on to people who are confused by the similar naming, but it's not accurate. I enjoyed Playroom significantly more than this one, and felt they controlled differently and had different vibes. I went back and played Playroom while playing Astro Bot to be sure, and I wasn't misremembering, they play differently. I still really liked the longer experience, but "demo" implies that the content of Playroom will be inside this one as well, which is totally untrue. It's a sequel

        • +3

I completely agree with you. Referring to it as a "demo" might make it easier to explain the connection between the two, but it’s definitely misleading. Astro's Playroom and Astro Bot are distinct experiences, and while they share some DNA, they’re very different in terms of gameplay and feel.

          • +1

@Maverick1002: I think the demo part comes from it being a 'Tech Demo' rather than a 'Game Demo' as it was there to showcase the new features of the PS5.

          • @Maverick1002:

Did you really use ChatGPT in your reply?

    • +3

      Scroll up. Already asked.

Astro’s Playroom is bundled with the PS5

Astro Bot (2024) is a different game. Same character but a longer game.

      • +3

Not to be confused with Astro Bot: Rescue Mission (2018) which was made for PS VR on PS4 😄

  • +5

Amazing 3D platformer. Different mechanics on each planet and great callback to the many PS characters throughout the years.

Also makes full use of the dualsense controller.

  • +4

Glad everyone liked the deal. Merry Xmas all!

    • +2

      Thank you for sharing

  • +1

    Does EB pricematch?

    • +2

yeah but probably better luck at JB

    • EB check if it’s physically available in distance to the store for that price, jb price match wins everytime they even match Amazon on a good day

  • Too many games in my backlog for this holiday - inc FFRebirth, Xenoblade 3 and Paper Mario TYD

Tempted - but I will wait to buy this later. Likely to drop further. If it went for $35-$50 I would not hesitate

    • -1

How much you spend on paper mario?

  • I keep seeing comments that it's good for kids. What about a teenager? Thinking of getting it for my nephew

    • +8

It’s not a matter of age, but rather a matter of taste. This game will appeal to people of any age provided they’re a fan of the genre.

Does he enjoy other 3D platformers (ie. Super Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, etc)? If so, he’ll love it.

If he exclusively plays shooters, like Fortnight or COD, then it may not appeal to him.

    • Lucky the thought suddenly dawned on me to ask my brother…he doesn't have the disc drive ps5 😂

  • +7

Might be the best 3D platformer I’ve ever played without “Mario” in the title. Absolutely deserved GOTY.

  • +2

Astro bot: Rescue mission on the PSVR1 is such a fresh breath of a game.

I recommend grabbing a PSVR1 (and hook it up on your PS5) just for that game too.

  • +5

Try XDEC2024, for a 10% off saving, total of $62.1.

    • +1

This was gold. Got it for 62 in time for xmas. Iids will love it.. so will I probably. Loved the nostalgia of the demo.

By the way how cool are the ps5 30 year skins. Mine sounds like a ps1 starting up.. awesome.

  • +2

$52.20 with my everyday $10 saved up great find !!

  • +1

    great, f**k Nintendo
We want Mario games without Mario!

  • +5

The industry really sent a message loud and clear by giving this game GoTY. We are currently at a cross-roads with so much bullshit free-2-play rip-offs, toxic online only multiplayer games and games that are built with stratospheric budgets that do little innovate except to push some extra graphics.

Seemed like gaming was changing or dying, I couldn't tell, but the game getting GoTY now I know I'm not alone feeling like that.

  • +1

Price matched at JB, picking up tomorrow!

  • Ahh… $69. The old original price of new release games now being price gouged at $99 to $109 just for the standard edition…

    • +1
      • +1

Yep. That's how much I got it for from JB HI FI before they jacked up the price on the game out of no where. I remember when I was able to get games from them about $10-$20 cheaper than EB Games now they practically price match EB Games… But of course EB Games still comes out on top by making sure their games are being sold for $10 more than other stores like I once saw Astro Bot being sold on there for $109!

They must of saw EB Games price gouging suckers with their terrible prices and decided "Let's copy them!"

I've noticed some games are still cheaper at Big W but they have slowly started following the trend with other stores by jacking up their prices too. It's disgusting paying $99-$109 for standard edition of games while deluxe/ultimate/ect editions are being sold for close to $150! Soon we gonna need to start finding stuff to sell around our homes just to buy a game…

I miss Blockbuster so bad :( Renting new games then returning them when I'm done. The Blockbuster in my area when I was a kid was the best. Always kept letting me keep games longer than what was paid at no extra cost.

        • Wait a few months after release, buy the game you want 2nd hand on Facebook Marketplace, then resell when you're done. You can usually break even or lose a minimal amount of cash. Basically the same as renting a game at Blockbuster but you can keep it for as long as you want.
