Not bad, it's dual sim, still for a dodgy unknown brand price is a bit high, $99

It's actually a better price compared to most other offerings on the market, atleast 20-30$ more expensive than other similar competitors (fastcardtech, pandawill etc). Therefore I'm giving a plus.

$99 will get you a pretty shit phone in this shanzhai phone market. Probably would end up with either a MTK6515 (6575 without 3G), that new Spreadtrum SoC similiar specs to the previous except CPU is Cortex-A5 instead of A9 or even worse that old ass MSM7227 chip. All bound together with a horrible screen even relative to other chinese phones such as this one and an even worse battery (I've seen some with only a 1000mAh listed… I cant even imagine what actual would be then).

This Newman N1 phone actually has a relatively large discussion on XDA too - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888501 unlike the majority of other cheapass chinese phones. The only other MTK6577 phone that has any sort of community on XDA that ive seen is a certain Samsung Clone and a HaiPai phone.

  • looks almost exactly like an S3… can anybody vouch for the processor? If that's up to scratch I'll buy it to get rid of my iPhone 3gs
edit: had a look online and found this http://www.gizmochina.com/2012/07/20/understanding-mediatek-… apparently it's just a bit slower than an S2. Still I reckon that's pretty good for an S3 look alike.

Perhaps have a look at the HDC Galaxy S3 G9300 (yup, that's right they are knocking off 2 brand names)

      http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods-8113-HDC-Galaxy-S3-G9300--…

I can't actually comment on the quality, but if you do have a look there are a few variations on the model ie f9300, i9300 g9300 etc. Not sure what the differences are but RAM would be my largest concern, often they are only 512mb (pretty poor) 1gb should be the minimum.

  • These are a giant leap forward for cheap chinese phones. Unfortunately the mediatek processor is a little shitty. I would wait for the MX6.1 quadcore that is starting to show its face in cheap tablets or wait for the upcoming quad core mediatek. Otherwise better to get an older known brand..
