Sign up to Costco Executive ($130/Year) in-Store Only for a Bonus $20 Shop Card @ Costco

Costco warehouses in Australia now sell $100 Doordash Gift Cards for only $79.99 for current Costco members to use via the app or website.

Also Costco Auburn is the first warehouse in Australia to align with Doordash in offering delivery of over 1200 items (1288 to be exact) to customers within a 10 km radius.

Best of all, Doordash customers do NOT need a Costco membership to purchase items but if non members do sign up to a Costco Executive membership, they also receive a $20 Costco Shop card as well as a 2% discount on most purchases.

So essentially if you become a new Costco Executive member and buy the new Doordash voucher (currently 20% off) you can receive an additional $40 value!

It’s worth noting that there is exclusive pricing for Costco members on Doordash as well the regular price for non Costco members.

Doordash is currently trialling its partnership with Costco Auburn and aims to deliver within 2hrs as well having a $0 delivery fee!

Hopefully this partnership rolls out nationally to all 15 Costco warehouses once this trial is successful.

Was at one of their warehouses about month back and my normal membership expired. I was offered this exec membership and $65 gift card and they said I can return the exec membership anytime and exchange for basic one and get difference back.

Took it and spent $$$ in items I don’t need immediately. Hmm maybe Costco has a strategy 🥴

I downgraded from executive to regular recently and it felt like Costco staff tried everything they could to keep me on Executive. To the point which made me wonder if there’s incentives for staff to convince members to become Executive.

The 2% cashback is only awarded and available to use a week or so before your membership renewal date. So if you want to downgrade like me, you must use your 2% cashback during that week.

    • I don't think its true, as I was able to use my credits from the executive membership on multiple shops that was several weeks apart, but yes only available to start using a week before the renewal onwards

Then you can downgrade your membership to normal membership, that way you can get refund the difference and still you can keep that $20 shop card. Cheers enjoy that way….

Costco's hired goons got to him.

  • Can you sort of get this and at the end of the year cancel the membership saying you weren’t happy? Nd get a full refund ? I knew someone that did this every year with their usual membership !

  • +3

Their 2% cashback only allows you to use it within a week or 10 days before renewal. Also only the primary card holder is allow to use it. I dont see the value in it unless u spend alot there. Just the regular membership is fine.
They should allow people to use the cashback when ever they like.

    • yeah theres a cap and its pretty hard to hit if youre just a small family.

works well if youre buying on behalf of a few families and share the love around with your purchases

    • By within you mean from

  • I spoke to a Costco member, and I can confirm that we can purchase a Gold Star Executive Membership for $130 and later downgrade to a Gold Star Membership for $65 per year. By doing this, we can receive a $65 refund or store credit. However, he advised that if the downgrade is delayed by more than one month, the refund amount may be reduced.

When I asked if I could make the change as early as next week, he confirmed it would still be possible to receive the full $65 refund. He also clarified that there is no need to return the $20 shop card.

This makes it a great opportunity to effectively get a Gold Star Membership for just $45. Thank you.
