First person horror / shooter game, if you have played the original Metro 2033 then this game is basically a VR version of that, with most the action happening in dark underground passageways and you having to rely on a bit of stealth and resource management (gas masks / rechargeable headlamps) from time to time.

Unfortunately because this game was developed for the lowest common denominator hardware (the Quest 2 / 3 headsets being the target platform) the graphics are kind of low-poly for a PC VR title. The maps are also smaller in scale and the number of interactable objects in the environment is quite limited, so don't expect this game to be as graphically impressive as Half Life: Alyx.

But maybe that's a good thing if you got a potato PC…

Reviews are generally mixed. 3/5 on GamesRader, 3.5/5 on TechRadar, 7/10 Press Start Australia, and 7/10 TheGamer

Minimum Hardware requirements:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 - 64 bit
Processor: Intel 9th gen i7 (i7-9700)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: RTX-2070 8GB
DirectX: Version 12
VR Support: Oculus Rift, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 Family, HTC VIVE, HTC VIVE PRO and HTC VIVE PRO 2 and Index

Extra note: If you choose to buy the Quest version of the game on the Meta Quest store, you will also receive a Rift version of the game for free, which can be run on your PC for better performance. You'll need to install the Meta Quest app on your Windows machine.

This is called cross-buy and there are also a selection of games on the store that support cross-buy. Consider checking the Meta Quest version if you prefer to own both the Headset and PC version of the game.

"this game is basically a VR version of that" - except it's a different developer who made this game. 4A Games made the first 3 Metro games, but had only minor involvement in the making of this game. No idea why this comment was downvoted.

    • My guess is that just because it's not the original developer, doesn't mean the game can't be very similar/a remake. The OP seems to imply that's the case here, but I don't know anything about the game so maybe that implication is wrong

  • "Reviews are generally mixed. 3/5 on GamesRader, 3.5/5 on TechRadar"

    Oh wow, I'm convinced…..

  • You can get for a similar price on meta/quest by finding a creator (youtuber) affiliate link to your game of choice as they have doubled the discount to 20% until end of December I think.

  • +3

For those who already own Arizona Sunshine 2 on Steam, you can save yourself a bit more by getting the Metro Awakening + Arizona 2 bundle for $35.97.

  • love Metro games but not sure i wanna fight them spiders in VR….

  • Pounce or wait some more for even lower pricing? Mmmm….

    • 20% drop in 1st month - not looking good

      • I think it might be done to keep parity with quest affiliates promotion
