    No numpad.. :(

    • +4

The advantage being that it's more ergonomical as a result. It looks like a lot of unused space, but the keyboard is nice and centred.

My glass is half empty.. :(

        It's also half full!!

Is this official refurb stock from Dell directly or just a backyard job?

    • Is this official refurb stock from Dell directly or just a backyard job?

What did Aaron say when you asked him?

Because based on the number available, how new this model is plus the build spec, this looks like a "refurb" deal that Dell have asked Mobileciti to clear so they don't piss off JB and The Good Guys

      • Thx, best thing with Dell is their customer service & warranty, my work laptop is a Latitude so far so good …

Great price, but seems there's a lot of 'em out there from various places at not dissimilar prices, which may even eeek a little more savings depending on cashback offers etc!

It's just JW with a higher price - Kogan is fronting for JW and MyDeal is fronting for this Mobileciti deal

Funny how Centre Com got rejected on this deal from Dell

Hello to the Centre Com marketing team reading this comment

      • +3

Why the hate with Centre Com? Did I miss something? Love some computer shop drama.

  • Whats its battery life like for daily activites (work/browsing/videos)?

    • +1

My gut feeling - very poor as this is a beast.

You don't buy this for portability or battery life, you get this for raw power with limited portability and some gaming.

    • Based on a couple of reviews… 10 to 13.5 hours.

Seems the big battery helps and using a lower TGP on the discrete GPU helps as well.

It's very dependant on your workload. If you're playing a AAA game you'll get an hour of runtime. If you're just Web browsing or typing you'll get 10 hours.

At max GPU load, the GPU alone draws 60w, so on a 90Wh battery it will last 1.5hrs (90/60). This is without considering the CPU load.

        • Yes, very dependent on use. Nothing sucks battery like high wattage usage.

          • @jlogic: TBH I don't need a GPU so if i was to buy this i'd just throttle it all the way to minimal usage to get maximum battery

            • @Honeypotdepot: I do hope there is a way to completely disable it when running on battery. That way that 90Whr battery is only used for the SOC and display.

Will have a mosey around when it arrives.

Was waiting for a laptop like this to pop up. Meets all my specifications. Recent SOC, dGPU (for video encoding), minimum SRGB gamut, matte screen.

Only thing that was missing was a second Thunderbolt port. Sucks you can't use a type C peripheral if you don't have the barrel jack charger, because it is being used to charge the laptop. Not a problem if you use a Dell dock, but out and about you may run into that issue.

Dell should of junked the Micro SD reader and use the space to put in the additional Thunderbolt 4 port.

I wonder if it is because of the dGPU, I find that when a dGPU is offered the second TB4 port disappears.

This seems crazy for those specs - tempted to buy one even though i havent switched on my existing laptop for 3 months!

  • Waiting patiently for the nit police to come along.

  • +1

Waiting patiently for similar specs without the gfx card for under 1200

  • tempted to get it for my dad

My laptop motherboard just died today, maybe this is a sign 😂

    • Wasn't a Lenovo LOQ was it?

      • It was a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16ACH6

  • Is this full aluminum body?

    • +2

No, aluminium shell. It’s not a unibody construction.

  • +1

If this was an 14inch version it may be a deal

    • What would be a typical 14" comparable model/brand? (spec wise)?

  • can the Graphics card TGp be upvolted

    • +1

From what I could read only up to 70W.

After 3 years it still isn't worth upgrading the $1200 Acer nitro 3060 from this deal:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666562

The 3060 vs 4060 isn't much between them.

Hoping next year there will be more competition in gpus

    • 8gb ram damn

      • +2

Yes and the storage low but were cheaply upgraded.
For gaming the gpu is king and the 4060 is only a little better then the 3060.
3 years and more money should give a better improvement

  • This system seems to have terrible issues with trackpad reported on various forums.

  • Not a bad deal. I'd be all over it but i rarely turn on my Nitro 5 with 3060. Even then the DLSS improves fps to the point where i dont need to upgrade.
