Agree, I was assuming an 18v battery and charger would be worth the buy… but alas this comes with neither…

      • Apologies. My bunnings account logged out of my Onepass when I checked :3

Looks like the screwdriver alone costs $79 which makes it more expensive than the normal price of this kit?

Its just inflated rrp trickery like those forever running house/kitchenwarehouse sales

  • Any experience with the 4v screwdriver?

    • +5

      No power to it.

I use it for quickly screwing into cage nuts in data cabinets where a full-sized drill is awkward, heavy, and overkill. For that niche scenario, it's pretty good. I'd also imagine it'd be good with Ikea furniture.

TBH I don't know if it's common on screwdrivers at this price point, but it's annoying that it doesn't have a clutch or variable speed, so for those reasons I often reach for my full size driver.

It is good for removing screws…

    • No, not the Ryobi one, but I've got the Ozito one and it's great. Screwdriver, very useful. I use it often for anything screwdriver related. Just makes taking things apart and putting things together easier — bikes, computers, furniture. It's not a drill but can perform light drilling tasks -i've used it to hang picture frames etc.

The ozito one is $40 (but has gone on sale briefly for $25) and i think it's good value. Ryobi one seems better usb-c but you may need other screwdriver bits. There are alternatives that go for about $20-30.

$49 for kit, i think it's reasonable to me. would buy.

What plug pack do I use for the hammer?

    • +4

It uses the new 128v battery system, its a little heavy but you'll get used to it

Well if this isnt a "Hey please buy some crap for christmas stocking," cash grab then i dont know what is.

    • True, i actually entertained it for a minute myself even though I dont need it. I would like a nice yellow ryobi hammer but 'down boy'

  • Is an electric screwdriver useful beyond just using a manual screwdriver and drill? Seems like it sits in-between and I fail to see when it would be useful.

    • Useful for niche hobby stuff, removing/installing screws from pre-threaded plastic (think pulling apart a laptop or other electronic devices).

Useless for any form of drilling or driving.

I have a little Bosch one I got as a freebie like 15 years ago working in an auto parts distribution warehouse. Underrated gem. Not much power, but that puts it in a great spot of “not powerful enough to split timber” bit also “much faster and easier than manual screwdriver”. It’s not good enough for any diy, but handy to have around. Is that worth $50? YMMV, but I would say yes.

  • Really good to put flat packs together, IKEA's in particular.
