Swann kind of had the market for a while until Eufy came along and did an Apple-Nokia on them and took it all away
Swann stuff has always been pretty garbage. I wouldnt compare them to nokia who made good phones but lagged in innovation and didnt move to an android ecosystem when they should have. Swann systems have always let me down with cameras and nvrs that fail just beyond the warranty. There are like a dozen different apps that swann have released which get no updates ever and dont integrate with eachother. Very basic and lacklustre functionality on their apps. Very disapointing.
Ive been on reolink and had the same system running 24/7 for 6.5 years now with no hiccups. App is the same across all cameras and systems. Constantly getting ui updates and new functionality. Still the same hdd too which is astonishing. Expecting that to go first.
Tip of you are buying swan NVR and have chromecast
1) install app like 'ip cam viewer lite' on chromecast
2) configure swan camera in the app
3) now in Google home app setup a routine to trigger 'open ip cam viewer lite on chrome cast' with a routine like 'show backyard'
4) every time my kid goes to backyard, I just ask google to 'show backyard' which will turn on my tv, Open ip cam app on chrome cast and streams camera that I setup.
Now I can keep an eye on my kid while I'm resting on couch with ease
