Thanks got 3 bottles nice cigar whiskey 🥃

    • +4

      Can't afford cigars anymore :(

    • +6

Ozbargain cigar club shall be born I think!

    • +7

Where do you get your cigars?

      • +3

A couple of private lists that circulate in Melbourne or online from Neptune Cigars or Cigars of Habanos.

    • I drank this with the Toscanello Macchiato the other week. Good combination.
Paid $75 for a pack of 5 cigars. They're small stubby ones with burn time of 20-25mins.

      • I'm looking to get started with cigars but everywhere online I look I see cigars for $40-50 for singles at local shops (Arturo Fuente Sungrowns & Camacho Connecticut). Where did you get yours?

        • +2

The ones you mentioned are up there and usually a burn time of 40+ minutes.
I am also new to Cigars as I've recently acquired a lot of whisky. I purchased mine from 'Tobacco store' on 17 George Street, Parramatta. Have a friend and a cousin that are well into cigars and they both highly recommended the Toscano cigar as a premium entry level.
Toscano Toscanello I paid $144 for 2x boxes (10 cigars)

          There is also the following:
Hoyo De monterrey (Rothschild) 5x in a box for $80
Cohiba Club 20x in a box for $110

Most the $5-$15 cigars have a burn time of 20-30mins which are usually small. The classical fat cigars that you're used to seeing in movies are easily $50+ each

          • +1

@gezza90: Cheers for the detailed answer. I'll pick up the Toscanos!

  • Picked up two myself! Thanks…

  • Thanks OP!

  • +1

Got one reviews are not that great at Nick's

    • +8

      Its good for the price.
Comsidering some of the trash avaible at this price point I'd even say its great for the price.

      Its not good at RRP

    • -1

      Dont trust nick rating.

  • +2

    Thanks got 2!

  • +1

Cheers OP. Gotta jump onto cigar bandwagon too!

  • +1

Just bought it—no idea about the taste, but I got it because of the upvotes.

    • Dont worry about the taste. If poison is tasty you will drink much more.

  • +1

My liver says no but my innerer preisjaeger says yes

  • Thanks op got two

  • +1

Not drinking too much now, but got two …

    • +1

That's why you got two, you mean. Would have gotten 10 otherwise lol

  • Grabbed one last time to try, it's a nice drop, especially for the price.

  • I bought this a few days ago, my shipping time keeps changing from weeks to months :/

    • I'm in the same boat, bought mine a month ago and still no ETA :(

  • OP you’re not Hadley the reviewer by any chance are you? 🤣

  • Got 2, thanks!

  • Great drop - you won’t regret it!

  • Cheap drop!

  • +14

What is this.. bought 2 and i dont even drink

  • Seems to be very popular. Might as well give it a go. Thanks!

  • +11

I was disappointed with this. Blair Athol to me tastes and smells way better.. this smells and tastes nothing like a 16 year old matured whiskey .,but both taste and smell is subjective.. however I have made and aged grain whiskeys with toasted oak in glass jars ..aka moonshine.. this tastes and smells like someone collected too much of the head and tails and did not give it enough time to kick off the nasties and retain the goodies. 6 years I'd say ..not 16 .. no one can intentionally create this with 16 years unless it is blended.. but just my opinion.. if you enjoy it and think it is a good drop at the price go for it..but I doubt it is a 16 year old whiskey

    • -2

      It’s cheap shit.

      • +4

Not really 65 dolllars is not cheap..pre covid you would get your standard red labels and equivalent 30 to 35 dollars..someone just forgot to tell the retailers and the govt that the supply chain has improved..so imported stuff should adjust accordingly in terms of price..so not cheap and not shit either .. a whiskey at one month is shit, at 1 year if it costs 10 dollars is acceptable , at 6 years ageing in a barrel …it is pretty well liked ..over priced maybe..shit.. nah

        • -8

Uh huh. It’s no longer pre-COVID just FYI.

    • +1

Yep, definitely prefer the Blair Athol.

    • +2

Yes, I've been having this side by side with Blair Athol, and find the Blair Athol better in terms of both taste and smoothness. Still a decent drop at this price, but agree, doesn’t drink like a 16.

    • Blair Athol appears to be almost double the price, is that right?

      • +2
        • Thanks!

          • +2

@snoopydoop: So both were almost same price at same time. Hence the side by side comparison by those who bought both in Deals 2 months back.

    • +1

      Blair Athol is very nice.
I caught the Glen Scotia deal here, I think it was only $59. To my tastes that was the best so far

  • Doc Holliday would always carry one of those quality ones. They were 25 cents a bottle in Abilene, Dodge City, Tombstone, Purgatory etc in old Wild West.

    • My sweet Hungarian devil

  • +1

I got one, currently well into a bottle of wild turkey 101.

  • I bought this a couple of weeks ago during another price drop and only recently tried it, and I was pleasantly surprised. It offers quite a balanced profile for a $65 scotch. I just ordered another bottle.

  • Not cheap for $5/glass (considering 50ml/glass) but it's 16yo alcohol :)

    • I'm going to go out on a limb and assume as a scotch, it tastes like a scotch and not a bourbon.

The asking process helps determine what kind of whisky/whiskey it is, and the associated flavour profile.

      • The title does not mention scotch

  • +2

    This better change my life

  • -5

16 is a little on the young side for me. But you guys enjoy!

  • -1

Thanks op. Bought 3. Good drop for this discounted price. RRP is BS

  • A whisky like this (i.e. with this profile) should be at $120-150 a bottle.

    • +1

      Sir, this is OzBargain

    • Absolutely not

  • Thanks OP , bought 4

  • Shaved a little more off the price with a discounted Amazon gift card - thanks OP.

  • Showing out of stock for me just now

    • Same here. :-(

    • In stock now

      • Cheers for leaving a comment. I decided to grab a bottle even though it says "within 1 to 2 months". In my experience they exceed these estimates but either way.

  • +2

I ordered one from last deal 4th Nov, still hasn't shipped.

    • That's weird - had it switched to being on backorder or something before you completed your order?

My purchase this morning shows expected arrival tomorrow.

      • Nope, I was fairly early to nab one.

Update, "Label created by sender" this morning… 38 days after ordering.

And, being in a regional area… "Arriving Wednesday" (6 days)… and I still have to go into the post office to pick all my parcels up.

        • Oof.

If only your whisky kept aging after it left the barrel :) Anyway hope it's worth the wait.

  • +9

I ordered last night and it was just delivered! Took about 12hrs, just in time for morning tea ;-)

    • +3

whisky for breakfast, breakfast of champions

    • +1

Yes, late night purchase, early morning delivery. Drunk by lunchtime (if I was home).

  • OOS for me

  • Thanks op. Finally got 1. Just received the delivery.

    • I have just received too but no box T_T

      • Same … no box T_T

        • Same … no box T_T. Amazing to know Amazon sells Scotch whisky without the typical branded box.

  • +2

Looks like its in stock again

  • Got my 10 bottles today. Ok so quite a smooth whisky but i think it lacks depth so 16 years i am unsure . Quite sweet could be a good drop for ladies to try too.

Question for fellow ozbargainers why didnt it come with a box and came in bubble wrap ??

    • +1

Mine is not even bubble wrap T_T it is inside an Amazon box only.

    • Two I ordered came in a amazon's small box each wrapped in bubbles.

  • +1

    Available again

  • Christmas sorted. Thanks!

  • +1

    Got 1.. thanks @Palindrome777

    • +1

You're welcome, I grabbed a couple more for myself and have really enjoyed my previous orders

      • tried it last night… it's silky smooth… ordered another one this morning. Can't go wrong at that price.

  • -5

not the best whiskey.. looks like ill be gifting my extra bottles.

  • Got mine today, the amazon packaging is laughable. placed sideways so it can roll around in a giant box and placed loosely in a slim plastic sleeve.

  • How does this compare to something like an Ardbeg

  • Back in stock

  • +2

I personally wouldn’t order it again.

I initially bought 3x2 when it first came up, received the first four bottles, tried one, and promptly canceled the remaining two.

It’s okay for $65, but definitely nothing special—not what I’d expect at this (full) price point/age.
Around the same time, I picked up a couple of "Blair Athol 12 Year Old Flora & Fauna" bottles for a similar price, and they were miles ahead—easily ten times better.
I also scored some of the Lagavulin 12 Years Old Special Release 2022 (though from memory that was closer to $90), and this one doesn’t even come close to matching it.

That said, taste is super subjective, so your experience might be completely different!

    • I liken this to being an ‘easy drinking whisky’. Nothing special to write home about, fine to drink when you want something you don’t need to think about and don’t want something nice.

  • +1

    Back again !!,

  • Yep back again and delivers to my rural Postcode woot woot.
