Menulog Doesn't Care about Its Customers

I came here to share my frustrating Menulog experience after using the ING signup $200 Menulog credit deal.

  1. Last Friday, I ordered a Maccas family meal. The app marked it as "delivered," but the food wasn’t there. CCTV confirmed nothing was ever delivered. Support refunded me.

  2. I reordered, and the same thing happened. This time, I saw the driver slowdown near my house, then speed off without delivering. Thankfully, another quick refund, but no compensation for the now, two hours wasted. Switched to DoorDash, and the food arrived in half the time, no issues whatsoever.

  3. Today, I ordered from a kebab shop, and again, no delivery. The driver sped past, marked it as "delivered," and support refused a refund due to my claim history.

Looking into it, Menulog has a 1.9 rating on Trustpilot, with many complaints about undelivered orders. Unlike other apps, Menulog doesn't have/require delivery photos, driver ratings, or enforce timeframes, leaving drivers unaccountable. You can only text drivers during delivery, not after.

Menulog is hopeless and I've given up on them, I’ll be using the remaining credit for pickups only and avoid Menulog altogether after that.

How are they still operating? Can the ACCC do anything about them? Does anyone have a similar experience?

Just get the food yourself. It's not that hard.

Waiting 2 hours for Macca's then getting a kebab delivered…

I live in a highrise in a CBD with food options everywhere yet the amount of UberEats deliveries in our building is crazy. People are lazy.

      • I couldn't believe it when I saw someone order bubble tea on uber eats.

    ACCC will eat your kebab.

They ain't gonna do anything for $15 meal.

    • …for an item that costs $5 in store.

Yep, tried these guys once years ago and found it to be a dumpster fire arrangement. And that was on a pick up arrangement. Never again.

  • They're still making enough money from delivered orders to pay off missing ones.

It's a sunk recovery cost, which seems to be working because you tried using them again.

  • I mean sounds like Menulog is great here for customers. You've ordered 3 times and been refunded in full 3 times and your account hasn't been banned or locked.

Bad customer service would be if they didn't give you a refund. Problem here is more with their delivery service in general.

    • I missed where he mentioned he was refunded the 3rd time?

      • Ah my bad, didn't read it properly.

Still, seems like a reasonable policy to stop refunds after 2? I'd suggest none or 1 max for a new account.

Yeah I guess it can't go on forever. It's too bad that, according to OP, ML doesn't have/require delivery photos, driver ratings etc. While it seems unlikely to have this happen 3x in a row, if it happened, as a customer you would want it to be investigated and not dismissed. Honest customers shouldn't be penalised for ML's failure.

    • No, they refunded 2 out of the 3 times. Although my account is still active, I have remaining credit that I fear using because I'll never know whether my order will be delivered or not (looks like pick-up it is). And I agree, it can be out of Menulog's control to ensure their couriers do the right thing but the issue has been long-standing and they haven't adapted like their competitors.

Happened to me with my six month old waited

Maccas would have been stone cold even if it was delivered, you dodged a bullet

I hate to agree, but this was my experience with my last few orders and the driver was fast as feasibly possible.

Sounds like a hack to be a menulog driver to get free meals :P

Quick post it as a bargain.

Delivery apps are a constant disappointment. Although 3 times in a row that’s bad! I think with Menulog you can order for pickup instead of delivery? Maybe that will help you extract the value from your credits.

  • You could try waiting outside when the gps tracker shows their arrival, that way you get your delivery….

If they drive away in front of you, record it and share with menulog or bank for refund…

Then never bother with that service again.

'IF' you live in a obscure or hard to reach house or apartment, factor this into your predicament…..

    • I was contemplating that but didn't expect it to happen to my third order. Will be using the pickup option from now on, I was literally fighting for a refund with the support agents who have a preprogrammed copy and paste response.

      • I live on a subdivide(Made from the start) and I try to factor this in when getting deliveries….

Most services have no issue, but with gig services I usually meet them by the main street to avoid issues, so what I said wasn't a criticism but experience. ;P

  • I don't use Menulog - but do they give you the car and driver info for the delivery? Which I think Ubereat and Doordash do. If so, you would have some info to report to Menulog about these drivers, whom you observed drove by your place and left without delivering the food. At least then, if they do this repeatedly, Menulog would see a pattern, and may be, not use them anymore. So they cannot continue to do this without repercussions.

    • Unfortunately Menulog doesn't provide these details, you just have to go "courier". You also can't rate drivers either like other competitors.

      • That would make it easier for a dodgy driver to do what you just described, unfortunately.
