glad to say i can finally hold the urge of having free artificial sugar.

detoxed artificial sugar for 3 months and would say it is one of the best decision i ever made in my life.

Were you in fit and in weight prior to your change? How did it improve you?

      • +1

personally speaking, i do felt way easier to get up every morning and go to bed every night without consuming artificial sugar.

but it is not just quitting artificial sugar, it's a combination effort of exercise and eat healthy as well. i lost about 10kg (87kg to 77kg), blood pressure also dropped from 150/100 to 130/60.

also zero sugar soft drinks wont cut it too, those sugar free artificial sweetener still sending signal to your brain to produce more glucose or something similar so you still not getting any benefit out of it.

        • artificial sugar products make me feel nauseous .

I avoid them where I can.

          good old sugar for me

          • @altomic: U mean sugar cane white sugar? That’s artificial too btw

    • Do you mean the sweeteners added to sugar-free drinks?

    • +2

Kudos :) I got into it last year because of the deals on soft drinks, got out of it this year with soda stream carbonated spring water topped with a tiny bit of real fruit juice or all-natural water drops. The year before I was flat drinking beer lol It was arguably better than soft drinks because it doesn't contain all the artificial ingredients.

    • You say you detoxed from artificial sugar. What about normal/natural sugar (from fruit, eg)?

      • +1

        Insulin has entered the chat.

Fructose is not something you detox, your body just reacts and gets rid of it if you are intolerant, because it's been around for aeons, the body knows what to do with it. Artificial sugar and preservatives, on the other hand, can be very confusing.

        • Confusing to who?

          • @belongsinforums: Endocrine、hormone system I guess

          • +1

@belongsinforums: To your body. These substances would end up in your liver, which is designed to destroy foreign chemicals and send the byproduct to whatever processing organ is down the line. This is where the confusion arises. Unless you have the genetic code or instruction that tell the liver where to send these molecules, it hangs like a 'loading…' wheel. In effect, the molecules are stored in the liver in this way, when they should be discarded.

This is the main reason why you want to stick to your ancestral diet btw. One culture's superfood can be another's poison, purely due to the lack of the genetic adaptations to process the food.

            • @Alley Cat: Fascinating. Any papers I can read about it?

              • +1

@belongsinforums: Not that I know of. Only people in evidence-based practice care about this. When @SeiraS said they had detoxed the sugar, what they meant is they had stopped adding more to the current stash. To detox what's already there, you need to take things that bind with them, that converts these chemicals into something the liver can now understand and then get rid of. Stop the building up is always a good first step.

'Staff are quite generous giving multiple cans to some people.'

It's 31 degrees in the shade (so triple that in Reddacliff Place) and 1000% humidity - the quicker they are given out, the quicker they can go home!

    • +4

Can’t believe there wasn’t a budget to set up a sun shade for them

BCC would be quick to fine if an unapproved shelter was put up in the square.

        • Fair call
          Hope they slip slop slap
Will have a mad shirt tan after today.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: It was 29c in Brisbane today, am I missing something? That seems fairly mild for summer.

            • @GregRust: Far out is that all?
I was at the park with my kids at noon in the sun and I was absolutely stewing

              No breeze either..

  • free coke pronounced like that infamous english tutorial

  • +1

I hope they’re handing them out at King George Square. Hot box that place.

    • +1

Yeah, was a great idea to pave over that whole area and have no trees or shade.

  • Thanks scored 2 cans and the Fanta hat 🤠

  • +2

It's worth noting that even standard Fanta has artificial sugar in it. Coca-Cola has ruined both Fanta and Sprite in Australia.

  • Going to Queen St right now If they are still available

    • Did you have any luck or all gone by that time?

      • +1

Had a quick check and no more at around 6. At the old casino building, right?
