That is triple the price of a set of Ikea 365+, but I guess a Jamie Oliver endorsement does not come cheap.

These IKEA ones arent even in the same league let alone ballpark.

Having said that JO ones are starting to get thinner and cheaper every few years. Purchased a set 20 years ago, wow, you could anchor your boat with it, updated about10 years ago, half the weight and hot spots all over. Saw these in Myer today, i wouldnt pay more than $100.

    • Do you rate them? Wonder if the non-stick is any good. We just get the Tefal ones on sale.

      • 365+ are the same construction as the Tefal - stainless steel with aluminium layer inside (better heat spreading with less weight).

As for the coating - the Tefal ones refuse to say why type, so it must be bad :-) It's really annoying anyway! Ikea are sol-gel, to appease all the JFK-Jr-style fear of PTFE.

If these are PTFE, then great! But just $%$% say so. I used to rate the Ikea highly, not so convinced about the new coating. They are all good when new, but I'll see how long it lasts.

        • old +365 lasted longer than tefal

        • Any idea what brand is very good that often go on sale?

  • We got a set of these last year for about this price . Have some good heft to them and seem to be lasting way better than the cheapies we have had over the years .

  • I mentioned these on the other frypan deal - it's a great price actually

  • Got one, thanks OP.

Hopefully these are decent and get delivered.

  • TCB also seem to have the highest rate at Myer currently

Can these be used with gas stove top or induction only ?

    • +6

      Yes

    • Lol, why would a frypan NOT work on gas? Odd question.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Can stack with Bonus $10 Myer eGift Card with a $100 Myer Card @ Prezzee
work out to be better than using cashback

  • The Jamie Oliver pans are basically just your standard Tefal pans, but of lower quality. I generally avoid them.

Unrelated but if you're looking for a chef to learn from, avoid Jamie Oliver. He's not a terrible chef, but he's also not a good chef. Just one that managed to get popular. There's so many better celebrity chefs out there.

    • +2

So, he's shit and so are his pans!

    • +1

The double pans under his name are good quality. It seems you dont know what you are taking about.
You sound like a sh**y uncle Roger.

      • Jamie Oliver has always been seen as overrated long before Uncle Roger criticised him.

  • Can I make fried rice with these?

    • +3

Uncle Roger not happy with Jamie Olivers fried rice. Aiiiahhhhhh

    • Absolutely. The most important of fried rice is the rice you choosing(Jasmine rice) and make sure it is overnight cooked rice. Wok is less important.

    • Perfect with chilli jam and smashed tofu 🤢

    • No

Didn't teflon recently turn out as pretty bad for you?

    • yes

    • +1

watch 'the devil we know' documentary or "dark waters", a thriller with the hulk.
don't use any non stick at all.
stainless steel / carbon steel only.
just heat on medium until water looks like mercury balls in the pan and nothing sticks.
just don't make sauces / acidic foods like tomatoes in carbon steel and you're good

      • Do you use oil or tallow or gee after the beaded water?

        • you can use any high smoke point oil so i believe they all work.
i am using safflower oil at the moment

@scytherbbz: Oww k. Avoiding Teflon but consuming seed oils. You need to watch a doco or youtube videos on that.

            • @Jklaro: haha agree though i'm more concerned about forever chemicals over body inflammation (arguably both bad), but also through that logic — you should probably never eat out /takeaway given its always seed oils.

              • @scytherbbz: Nope not always ask about seed oils. i eat carnivore and ask if they use any vegetable oils.

              • @scytherbbz: Everyone knows most oils aren't good for you, very calorie dense (fat 9 cal/g vs carbs 4 cal/g). Olive oil in small amounts but easy to overdo it and clogs arteries and contributes to obesity and unnecessary to have.

Obviously eating out too much isn't healthy (high in fat and salt), people talking about gee and keto/paleo/carnivore have no idea (all rebranded Atkins diet).

Cooking with a little bit of water is the healthiest and possible in stainless once you know how to cook.

      • Yep, watched these too. Surprised to see Hulk starring in the documovie lmao

Or spend your money on carbon steel/cast iron/stainless steel pans that will last your entire lifetime rather than 2-3 years.
This is a site for frugalism and nonstick pans are extremely wasteful and do a worse job cooking most dishes

    • Can u recommend any good ones.

      • if you want a superior stovetop/oven pan cooking experience that will last, literally, for generations look for good deal on lodge cast iron sets… but anything stainless steel is better than this type of thing for many reasons

        buy once, cry once

        • I've used my 10.25 lodge I'd say 400 times in the last 4 years and it hasn't skipped a beat, it was like $40 too which is insane.
I got a de buyer mineral b pro carbon steel pan recently and got the best steak sear I've ever had from it. I thought cast iron got hotter than Carbon steel so this has changed my thoughts a bit!
I think I'm going to expand my carbon steel arsenal a bit more and have 2 dartos on the way.

      • Carbon Steel:
Darto, made in Argentina. Free shipping sale on now.
        de buyer, made in France.
        matfer, made in France.
        Cast Iron:
Lodge, made in USA, cheap as hell on Amazon
        Stainless Steel:
All Clad, made in USA, expensive, uncomfortable handle for some people
        Tramontina, made in Brazil

        • If going for de buyer (and not paying the premium for the oven-safe Mineral B Pro), consider the Carbone Plus (think this is the wholesale version). Mine were way cheaper than my Mineral B and appeared to be of a similar thickness. They are still not technically oven safe due to handle coating, but it probably doesn't matter if you don't care about the coating (I seasoned the top and bottom on the stove).

100% agree - this kind of landfill is a false economy… and the non stick coatings are highly questionable to you and your families health over time

  • Used to buy this crap, just keep returning to Myer under warranty every year when the coatings fail. Too wasteful and Jamie Olive oil is a knob.

  • I need a wok that could handle steel utensils, like those hexclad but not with the price tag.

    • +5

Cooking with a wok means high heat - shouldnt be coated with amateur Teflon sh*t.

A wok should be carbon steal coated in seasoning.

  • +1

I've been happy with a larger pot from this line. For spag bol, quick stir fry etc. This is a good buy for me, cheers for the post

  • Can someone call their kid Roger already

    • Haiyaaaa

    • Jamie Olive oil

  • I'd avoid non-stick teflon as much as possible. Use SS, cast iron or wrought iron instead.

  • Looks like my order has a shipped although having a few regrets that maybe I should have bought a stainless steel pan instead of Teflon

    • Just return it
