Ninja Foodie Max XXXL AF450ANZ Smart Dual Zone 9.5l Air Fryer $248 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ Harvey Norman

110

This retails $499 so I am not sure why this is half price. Pricing error? HN Black Friday pricing ends today at HN so get it now or miss out. These models are exclusive to HN.

The AF400 was a size upgrade from the AF300 with manual controls. The AF450 is same size upgrade and brings back the digital controls and adds a meat probe. Comes in white/silver as well. For this price it’s a steal.

Bringing one home now. Even got him to knock it down to $240 for me. Ninja site it’s $499. In any case good value 👍

    • Nice. I did the same on the weekend and even got mine down to $235. Very happy with it, after upgrading from an old Kmart 7L one. Absolutely hated the attached basket design and having to wash it and the solid basket. The Ninja is much better with not only the smaller solid baskets but also just having a small tray inside instead of a full basket. Cooks quicker, too, especially when only using one side.

$60 ish after cashback (Philips XL deal) is my benchmark now. Also have a Philips XXL that cost me $50 due to philips paying me manufacturer cashback twice in my bank account from the amazon deal pricematched at AO last year

We had Phillips, both air fryer and multi cooker turned out to be unreliable products. It’s why we changed brand

I just replaced my philips i bought in 2016 (nearly 9 yrs old) with the big W philips xl deal posted here. My old one still works but we were long due for an upgrade.

Same. Used my Philips for many many years and replaced with big W sale.

        • Awesome, we must have been unlucky then

    • We have ninja stuff as well and it still works well. So going to try them this time. Picked up a creami deluxe as well. Save me buying iceblocks all year round.

Can get the AF400 for ~$180. Guess it's up the user if they think digital screen/controls + inbuilt temperature probe is worth $70.

Good bargain, but I'd personally got with the AF400.

    • I managed to get the AF400 for $158, i wouldn't personally pay $100 extra for this but if you cant get the AF400 much cheaper this is probably worth it.

  • I am looking at this and note this AF400 listing on Amazon. Anyone know why this one is 2470watts https://www.amazon.com.au/Ninja-Dehydrate-Portions-Non-Stick… and this one is 1670 watts https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/ninja-foodi-max-xxxl-dual-zon…

  • Ninja airfryers are decent but just note the highest heat setting only applies to one tray at a time. When both trays are in use, one of the two trays drop to the next setting down. This was for AF400 model. May need to verify this with manual for AF450.

A reason why this might be on sale is because in the US they have vertical stacking models that are space saving, which may be on their way. Pure speculation here so take this as a grain of salt. It may just be pricing discounts or error as per OP.

  • Just curious the difference between the af 400 and 450

    • 450 has smart cooking using the temperature probe.

  • Thanks OP, had my eye on this for a while but not at RRP.

I purchased the AF400 (not this AF450) during a sale, replacing my old Philips air fryer, but unfortunately, it's been disappointing.

First, there’s a bug where if you turn on both sides, you can’t stop one side (zone) without removing the drawer (the user manual clearly says it's simply doable). But the bigger issue is its cooking performance, which I find unacceptable. I constantly have to open the drawer and mix the food. For instance, I cooked a few hash browns at 200°C for 20 minutes (no flipping), and while the top was nearly burnt, the bottom was still raw.

It also takes much longer compared to my 7-year-old Philips. For example, frozen potato fries would cook in 8-10 minutes in the Philips (no mixing required), but this Ninja model takes at least 15 minutes and needs 2-3 stirrings. Each time you open the drawer, you’re wasting energy, which is frustrating.

I believe the inefficiency is because this model doesn’t have a proper basket for circulating hot air, which makes the cooking uneven and slow.

To make matters worse, there’s a sticker on the machine that gives cooking times for various foods, like chicken (30-40 minutes at 205°C), but the temperature can only be set in 10°C increments, meaning you can’t actually set it to 205°C - only 200°C or 210°C!

I also reached out to Ninja support about the issue with the dual-side cooking bug, and although they did replace the unit, it took weeks to resolve. The bug still persists, and I now realize it’s a design flaw rather than a faulty unit.

In my opinion, Ninja's strength lies more in its marketing than in the actual product quality.

    • The sticker thing is pretty funny. Checked the recipe book that comes with it and it's correctly in 10c increments.

"First, there’s a bug where if you turn on both sides, you can’t stop one side (zone) without removing the drawer (the user manual clearly says it's simply doable)."

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Do you just want to pause it temporarily? Or stop it completely?

" I cooked a few hash browns at 200°C for 20 minutes (no flipping), and while the top was nearly burnt, the bottom was still raw."

Sounds like you got a faulty unit. Mine does hash browns in ~12 mins with 1 flip.

  • Why it's half price? Don't stuff normally go half price

  • I got the af400 for $159 had no idea there was a af450 i thought it was just af400 and the one with big drawer not dual

  • The HN images for it show a whole chicken in EACH basket
