Item Location Fraud eBay

Not sure if anyone faced it.

Item locations listed on eBay items are incorrect and seller adds some fake tracking which you get by just generating a label not posting it.

Best part eBay doesn’t have any control, they are more biased towards seller than buyers.

I purchased a book listed by below seller. Item posted next day but no update on tracking, may be item not in Australian as listed or wants to scam buyers. All I get from seller it’s going to come soon we are contacting shipment company.

Really fed up when a big company doesn’t care for their customers..

Yes. Yet another reason why I pay a little more to order from Amazon.

Not sure where you are but Amazon Prime is now 1-3 weeks delivery for me… It's faster to get stuff delivered from Aliexpress.

      • I ordered some cat stuff yesterday and it all says estimated delivery 16 December. I just assumed it was all coming from America or another country.

When an item shows an estimated delivery of 19th December to Sydney CBD if ordered today on the 2nd December… It's not in the country.

    • +2

Nah, because if it was in the country, the delivery date would be 29th Dec.

I can literally order junk off of AliExpress and have it here in about 7 working days… From China…

I order shit out of Brisbane and Melbourne on the regular and it's about 10 working days on average.

I only use Amazon these days.

    • +2

      Doubt it.

You can doubt all you like but that doesn't change things…

        • Precisely, you’re being dishonest.

  • +1

I actually don't care if the item is abroad or local if it delivers close to the earliest stated date - but I detest it when they say "AU LOCAL STOCK" or similar when it isn't and then delivery is between next Tuesday and Thursday in 4 weeks.

People still use eBay? What is this 2005

    • -1

Well if you are buying a used item not available locally, not many other options…. Ebay coupons are a thing too….

Probably drop shipper, also they say in old goody ebay years 'never ever buy from a buyer who has less than 99% + feedback'

  • +3

they are more biased towards seller than buyers.

Not true but experienced sellers know the loopholes.

    • They are WAY more pro seller these days, and happily protect fraudulent listings and false location claims. Given it's Australian consumers, and we were foisted a 10% GST on every item, ACMA is derelict in not going after ebay. Yet another waste of space white elephant govt dept.

This has been happening for at least 10 years. Check feedback.

  • What did the delivery timeframe say? If it's 5-10 days and it arrives within that time even though it was posted from overseas you still got what you paid for. If it takes longer than the stated delivery time dispute the purchase.

Thays what you get for buying from someone selling a medievil d!c% pic calendar..

    • +1

I wasn't going to click link, until you highlighted the calendar. Seller listing is a bit like walking into a $2 shop, just an assortment of single use wares
      .

    • Mrs Paint is wondering why we got an email that said

You recently viewed a ye olde d!c% pic calender. The seller is accepting offers. Get negotiating.

Yeah, nah, she knows exactly why. She would have just shaken her head… and said…

Ye Olde Dick Pics calendar from whence? Cheers…

Is this the Liberal Party Front Bench calendar?

          • @Protractor: No, you're confuse it with the "Ye Olde Diↄk Heads" calendar…

  • This has been happening on eBay for years with sellers advertising their item location as "In Australia" but in reality they're drop shippers from China. Super frustrating and yes, eBay does absolutely nothing to combat it as evidenced by it continuing after years of abuse after repeated reports to eBay from thousands of customers (read other forums).

    • Actually it's their core business model.

Blame the ACCC. They are their enablers.
      Advocacy by absence of action.

  • Big company?
It is clearly one person dropshipping from China. Look at all the random crap they are selling! It is so obvious once you look, but you were only buying a book, so understandably did not bother to check.
