  • Consistently great coffee

how does it compare to the other more expensive pod coffee machines ?

About as consistently shit as all others. Anyone who wants coffee should buy… coffee. Not an aluminium can.

    • not comparing to "more expensive", but this lengthy thread on whirlpool, particularly summarised by this post http://whrl.pl/RdohyD . suggests that the same priced Aldi machine and pods is a better option (where better in this case is taste).
      Each to their own though.

Note these have been $79 for some time, so really just an extra $10 discount over usual special price for everydayrewards cardholders.

      • the same priced Aldi machine and pods is a better option

I've tried the Aldi one, it only makes the coffee luke warm…

I do the shot of coffee top up with water from the boiling jug…

        • perhaps warm water in the reservoir would also work ?

        • Weird! Mine is so hot when I grab my cup of on the way to Gym I add an ice cube or two to cool it down…Do you have the new one or the original?

        • On the way to gym you say..

        • you can also try pre-heating the mug/glass with boiling water

        • I add hot water from the kettle too. Works well. I don't like much milk.

  • This one which takes the same pods; is the better, cheaper option ($49) (and has a steam wand).

    • The Map coffee machine is significantly larger in size and several people have mentioned it is "ugly". While the steam wand is useful, people have reported that it cumbersome to use (e.g. need to remove heat from machine).

      So both have their merits.

      • I think they are similar in size, but the orientation of the footprint is different (Map -wide face, not that deep: Woolies narrow face, very deep). [Quote from the above link: "but if there’s one thing we can say about the S14, it’s that it is no small machine, nor is it one that had the backing of a big design firm behind it: it’s big, black, and reasonably bulky."]
Even if you decided not to use the steam wand, the Map machine is still $20 cheaper (you could almost pick up the woolies sharply priced milk frother jug ($29) with the difference).

They are both fugly black plastic (low-end crappy) machines, so same diff in my book. I don't want either machine as I like my manual espresso, but confess that the low price attracts my interest.

I saw one of these But for $99 for us normal people its not a bargain :p

How normal is it to complain that a deal costs $30 more because you won't ask for a free Rewards card from the front counter??

Yep - you don't even need to register it - the application form they will give you has a temporary card attached

I have owned a CaffiItaly machine for over a year.
Excellent coffee every time and had no issues at all.
I love how I can use the 'cheaper' pods from Woolies too.
I don't know why they're considered 'cheaper'; the coffee is imported from Italy too.
Nescafe branded products are overrated…. I think they are more expensive because of the money they pour into George Clooney to promote the products….
The Aldi machine makes luke warm coffee.
