Is The Google Pixel Tablet a Good Deal at $348?

I'm after a decent 10-11" tablet (doesnt need to be the "best") for just youtube and Reddit browsing.

This Lenovo (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876249) looks like ripper deal at $350 for a CPU that would cost probably double if bought locally.

But it's just too big at 12.7" and I'm eyeing the 11" Pixel Tablet or Galaxy Tab A9+, both also $350 currently.

Seems like the Tensor G2 chip is still better than anything else available for $300-350 locally right now, which is gonna be stuff like Helio G99 and SD 695.

The Pixel only has a 60hz screen but its performance should hold up a bit longer into the future than others right?

Depends if you are OK being stuck with Android.
A ChromeOS tablet will let you run a full desktop browser, as well as extensions. So easier for things like adblocking.

Can run browsers with extension on Android. Look at Brave, Firefox, both have options for ad blocking.

Personally I'd go the S6 Lite or A9 over this Google Pixel tablet - or check out the Chinese tablets if you're into that, seems like Google isn't really behind the pixel tablet imo. Yes the performance of those samsungs might be less than the pixel, and defiantly the Xiaoxin, I think they make up for it in the software category.

I use firefox with ublock origin + sponsor block even on my phone for years.

Thanks, I may have to switch back. Been a long time.

for just youtube and Reddit browsing.

Pixel tablet with 60 Hz screen should be fine. Higher refresh rate will eat more battery. OS updates support should be great for Pixel tablet.

I have iPad 9. In term of battery life, I think ipad can last longer than any android tablets. This is because of OS optimisation.

But adblocker is better in android compared with iPad in my experience. You can use Brave browser with built-in adblocker or Firefox browser with uBlock Origin and SponsorBlock extension for YouTube Background play while using other apps. This trick doesn't work in iPad no matter what browser.
