Samsung SRF7500BB 648L French Door Fridge $2,307.69 Delivered (w/ $150 Tradein + 10% Loyalty & 5% App & 5% BF Codes) @ Samsung

120
BFDEAL5

Just pulled the trigger on this. Have not been tracking it long enough to say exactly how good a deal this is - and no previous listings on OzBargain - but suspect it's pretty damn good.

~$465 cheaper than next best price I can currently find online (incl. through GG Commercial / JB Commercial / Samsung EPP).

Stainless steel version is quite a bit more unfortunately - cheapest is $2,809.20 through Samsung with same discounts (or $2,690.00 if you're happy with a new-but-box-damaged one through Samsung Outlet on eBay, incl. $120 off via SAVEBF code).

Deal breakdown:

$3,799 RRP
minus $800 for current Black Friday sale [sale price expires 4 Dec]
minus $150 for trading in an existing fridge
minus 5% (?) with BFDEAL5 code [I believe this code expires 2 Dec, but not 100% sure]
minus 10% with Samsung loyalty (request through livechat, requires you to have an existing Samsung product, will ask for a photo of the serial number)
minus 5% first purchase through the Samsung Shop app discount [may be able to replace with current 5-6% cashback deals, but the cashback sites do warn cashback may not be earned with unlisted promo codes, and BFDEAL5 isn't listed].

Stacking all of the above results in $2,307.69 delivered - see post by MorriJ below if you're interested in how they reach this total.

You'll also earn 2300 Samsung Rewards points, which are worth ~$23 if you have an opportunity to later redeem them on another Samsung website purchase.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

Good luck with a Samsung fridge, I've read a lot of issues with them online, and with post sales support too.

    • This one got an 86% rating on Choice.

I have access if anyone wants a certain model or the current list of recommended ones. Just message me with your request & email.

      • +1

Unfortunately Choice haven't reviewed this specific fridge. But they have reviewed the SRF7300SA (86%) and SRF7100S (77%) - both "Recommended" - and these two plus the SRF7400 and SRF7500 series seem to all be built off the same "platform".

So unless the Beverage Centre or plumbing for the water/ice functions (the differences between SRF7500 and SRF7100/SRF7300) somehow ruin it, I figure this SRF7500 should perform similarly to the two Choice have reviewed.

Oh right, I thought the letters referred to a colour code, so my bad.

      • Hey mate
Can I get suggestions for a plumbed french door with water dispenser, less than $2k and min 890mm+ width. Been leaving towards Hisense HRFD634BW

        Thanks

        • I was looking at this one recently Westinghouse 564L Plumbed French Quad Door Refrigerator Matte Black WQE5650BA currently on sale for $1,949

        • Do you have any height limitations?

          • @ironclad: 1800mm

            • @mkh1991: Lucky you. I too was looking for a very wide fridge but my height topped out at 1780mm (+ a few mm if I wanted to play with cupboard doors), which eliminated a lot of options.

I can't say for sure what good options you might have as my research stopped at fridges around this 1780mm mark, but if you can stretch a little I'd look at the F&P rf610anux5, which can be had for $2172 + $59 delivery through Good Guys Commercial currently. Choice haven't reviewed this specific fridge, but F&P in general does well in their wide-ranging fridge reliability (84% - 3rd best) and satisfaction (86% - 5th best) surveys.

Beyond that, the Hisense is probably an OK option. Choice haven't reviewed that specific fridge but on average Hisense fridges score decently but lower than F&P in their reviews. Hisense also does alright in the general reliability (81% - 6th best) and saisfaction (83% - 8th best) surveys - they're towards the bottom of the pack for mainstream brands, but in absolute terms there's not that many percentage points between 1st and 6th/7th.

I would've bought Mitsubishi Electric if they had a model that fit neatly in my "fridge hole", but alas, they don't.

That said, I can't figure out why everyone thinks Samsung fridges suck (I too had it in my head before I started researching that Samsung fridges were no good).

While there's plenty of complaints and poor reviews online, from a detailed look through reviews/feedback on all models that fit my space, Samsung didn't do any appreciably worse (or better) than other mainstream brands (other than ME, who are appreciably better).

Google Shopping reviews for this fridge average 4.6. Other than ME, the other mainstream brand models were all in the 4.4 - 4.7 range.

Choice subscribers give Samsung fridges in general a 82% brand reliability score & 87% brand satisfaction score - approx on par with other major brands other than ME.

Not being defensive here - perhaps I'll come to learn why they have a poor rep - but all data I could find suggested they're no better or worse than most.

      • Not sure if their quality has deteriorated but I've had my Samsung fridge since 2012 and it hasn't skipped a beat. Well banged up after 7 or so moves over the years so long overdue for an upgrade, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it when I don't need to.

        • I have mine since the same time as well and it has been great. It’s still going strong. I can’t live without the water and ice dispenser. I think they have gone downhill since then from what I can gather.

  • +3

i have this. great fridge feature wise- longevity wise not sure, i keep buying them becuase of the feature set and price, but they do have fail points (not sure if there are brands that don't to be fair). they also offer 40-50% off codes(retail price) if you alreayd have samsung fridge and have had issues; for refernece i picked this up for around $2k 2 months ago, but this might be a good price without the loyalty coupon.

    • What issue did you run into with your fridge that you spoke about to get the 40-50% code?

Did you just speak about this over live chat?

      • +2

yeah just live chat when i was trying to arrange a technician to come out - they always ask if you want a new fridge instead of a repair and can offer you a code etc, i asked for the repair + code while i mull it over. had an older fridge we had a pretty well known issue with a clip that resulted in water dripping and accumulating at the base under the drawers. they came out and fixed it each time even though it was out of warranty so theres that, but i guess a fridge shouldnt reallly fail within 5 years imo. (this failed at around 2.5-3 year mark)

  • +2

Exactly, good luck with this Samsung fridge, my one (different model) started leaking water through the inside light just after Warranty was up, apparently a known design flaw. Plenty of similar poor reviews / experiences with Samsung fridges floating around on the internet.

  • +1

shitsung - hate my samsung fridge cant wait till it dies so i can get a mitsubishi.

  • How much better is a Mitsubishi vs Samsung fridge? noob here

    • +2

Everything in my research - and I did a lot - suggested that ME are easily the best option around, and if they have a model with the features + in the size you need, you should buy it. I only bought this Samsung model because ME didn't have a fridge that fit my space.

      • That’s the issue… can’t really find one with a water&ice dispenser.

        • Yeah, looks like ME just don't do water dispensers unfortunately.

  • My Hitachi has been running for 12 yrs plus and still running so no chance to get something new.

    • Same, my Westinghouse is still going since 2009 but am eyeing a Japanese made Hitachi model when it dies.

Stacking all of the above results in $2,307.69 delivered. Which doesn't quite line up with what it "should" be ($2,249.20), so I guess there's something funky with one or more of the vouchers (e.g. applies to ex-GST price or something).

I suspect your calculations are a bit hopeful. The 10% off and 5% off are all applied post-discounts/ other coupons. It's not 10% off the RRP and then 5% off the RRP.

My calcs are the following so $2307.10 delivered is pretty good imo
    ($3,799 - $800 - $150) * 0.95 * 0.9 * 0.95 = $2314.10

    • Yeah, I was originally calculating ( $2,999 - ($2,999 * 0.05) - ($2,999 * 0.1) - ($2,999 * 0.05) - $150 ) = $2,249.20. Your way makes sense if the various discounts are applied post other discounts/coupons.

      Doesn't really matter, it's only ~$60 and I'm sure it's me that's missing something.

I'm still not sure how they got to $2,307.10 though!

      • +1

I'm still not sure how they got to $2,307.10 though!

They seem to stack the 2 x 5% discounts together making it a 10% discount instead of a 5% discount and then a 5% discount off the new discounted amount, so it becomes:

        ($3,799 - $800 - $150) * 0.9 * 0.9 = $2307.69 or something like that.

        Doesn't matter either way :)

        • Ahah! Good work figuring it out :-)

  • Trade in existing fridge is not available for melbourne post code

    • As in Melbourne 3000? It worked for me in another inner Melbourne area.

      • Yep, put in 3000 = tradein not available in your area

        • Damn. Guess maybe they regard CBD as too hard to collect from or something.

  • upto my 3rd smarthub fridge all under warranty. i just get a new one every 2 years when they deem them unrepairable.

    • What issues have you run into that require repair?

      • +1

ice machine every time. last one started with the ice machine and after 2 repairs it just completely stopped cooling. lucky it was at 18 months. got the 809l smarthub delivered friday and the extra space is really noticeable

  • @ironclad I am curious about this 10% Samsung loyalty discount. Is this something that was only available during the BF sales??

    • I believe it’s available anytime through live chat… but not 100% sure, sorry.

    • Yes it's available through live chat i believe. They offered me a 10% duscount on a new fridge when my old Samsung fridge crapped itself just out of warranty period. No chance i was going to use it to buy another poor quality fridge with known design flaws from them.
