Oral-B iO 8 Series Toothbrush $193.50 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Chemist Warehouse

110

If you're in the market for a boujie toothbrush, this is a good bargain if this is stocked in a Chemist Warehouse near to you. It is technically click and collect only but I clicked on free delivery in 3 hours thinking it wouldn't work…and it did and got it delivered today. Out of stock almost everywhere but if you're lucky enough to have one nearby, this is the easily cheapest I've seen it. Much nicer experience than my ten year old electic tooth rattler.

now to wait for an eBay coupon…

    • Well played - this must be the 2024 inflation price lol

    $689

    Oral B’s taking the piss

    • +2

I did wonder who would seriously pay that…the newer version is so expensive.

      • +4

I think there’s a level of rich people out there that just buy stuff and don’t even look at the price tags.
And then there’s us on Ozbargain.

NDIS will cover the cost of these for kids with autism as the app keeps them motivated to brush. They are just milking the government like every other NDIS provider.

  • There are none left anywhere, tried just as you posted this.

Ordered one. Coming from a Oral-b pro 2000 I hope I won’t be disappointed because this one bloody expensive

    • How long ago did you try as they were all sold out everywhere 35 minutes ago.

      • Still a lot of stock around Brisbane such as Chemist Warehouse Hyperdome Shopping Centre, not sure at your city tho.

        • Are any stocks available around Sydney CBD?

  • +2

Hi, just checked for you and none around Sydney however if you just choose any store and then choose delivery it's free. I can confirm as I just placed an order from a store not near me and had free delivery, hope that helps.

    • Didn't work for me, it would not let me select Delivery to Door, only C&C, even after I selected a store that has stock.

      • Quite odd, the store I chose is at least 45 min away and it let me have it delivered. Maybe if you are too far away like another state then maybe they don't allow it.

Using this model for the last 3 years, and felt sorry for my partner to still be using her older model (Triumph) so made JB HIFI to price match it this morning and paid with 10% discount from gift cards. Paid extra $5.95 to have it delivered to Sydney. This is only my 3rd Oral B model since year 2000, the first one lasted over 10 years. For the last 24 years I didnt use anything else than Oral B - usually dearer models. I understand people are complaining about higher price of iO replacement heads, but I am not going back. Hardly use the "fancy" features though - Bluetooth, cleaning progress in the app, etc. Cheaper models will most likely do the same job.

    • +2

So which features do you actually use? What makes this a compelling buy? Genuine question.

      • +1

No features that are worth buying this model, this is not a budget model and online reviews I have seen suggest all iO models clean similarly. I reviewed the iO models several times (3-9) and cheaper models are probably better bang for your buck. In my case it just comes to what I am happy to pay extra for - colour display, the same charger as my 3 year old toothbrush. Paid $150 3 years ago and iO8 was cheaper (better discount) than iO7. They lasted me years so around $20/per year is not a huge deal. Do you guys really use 6-7 modes and check your cleaning progress in app often? I wouldnt put Triumph in my mouth again, but do I need iO8 - I dont.

I have only ever used a cheap power on power off Oral B toothbrush a long time ago which didn’t last too long.
I now only use a normal soft bristle toothbrush.

          Thanks for your review btw.

The main features I went for is the charging in 3 hours vs 12 hours on the io6 and below, and the screen.

      • +1

I bought this today purely because my old electric toothbrush (ten years old) felt like it was rattling my teeth and ripping up my gums. Bought it because it had magnetic charging mainly and was cheaper. I also like that there's more options for cleaning because my old one was way too rough. This one is a very different experience. I couldn't find any others that had mag charging (and 3 hours vs 12).

        • I hear you, also it’s not flexible at all which I think is a bit of a drawback. I use to spar a lot and I now need to flex my toothbrush a little to get to my molars.

Just saw the range and they are doing the 7 series for roughly $10 more which is the older model confused.

  • +1

I got one too, thanks for the heads up, great that we had a local store with stock still! I’ve been waiting for ages for a great price!

  • No stock anywhere in Melbourne SE suburbs. :(

  • No better than xiaomi

My wife owns this model, the design of this toothbrush causes mould to grow constantly. For the price you pay, the effort needed to jam a straw cleaner in there to clear the mould build up is ridiculous. Phillips Sonicare all the way. It just works.

  • UPDATE: Placed my order in the day yesterday to be delivered today and payment has been taken and got a confirmation email to confirm order placed etc. and JUST got a email to say my order was cancelled with NO explanation, how ridiculously rude. There was stock available and my payment went through and without explanation they just cancelled? I waited at home all day so far as it said they will send it back if you are not home for delivery and nobody came at all.

Coincidently needed to buy one today as the 7 years old brush died this morning.
No stock in Sydney CBD, but managed to get Shaver Shop to almost price match. Got it for $220. Happy with not driving to the nearest available store in Wollongong!

    • You're lucky. My Shavershop would not budge from $299.

  • I checked with CWH fairfield NSW on friday night, and there was only stock in super remote areas like tamworth 1 stock each etc, the deal was click and collect. I instead got the Oral B io 7, main difference is the screen is black and white and it may have a few less settings.
io 7 and above all have the magnetic fast charger (3hrs)
I found this was a game changer and felt a better clean overall compared to my previous genius 8000, also the material at the bottom isnt rubber so less chance of mould build up.
io 7 is $202 click and collect with some stock left in liverpool and parramatta nsw stores.
Alternatively I would suggest seeing if JB Hifi would price match the io 8 for $193, and click n collect.
    Happy hunting!
