Air Purifier Black Friday Sales?

Moved into a ground floor unit with no ventilation and am getting sick of sneezing/baggy eyes. I want an air purifier ASAP and it being "Black Friday" I thought finding a good price on a decent one would be easy. I've even got eBay Plus but haven't seen anything I'm quite set on yet, what with so many variables to the products. I ain't paying for a Choice membership to find the best ones either, worried about buying one that's too loud/expensive HEPA replacements.

Was happy to get this with a ten-year lifespan on filters but with the ozone generation I wouldn't want to risk making the situation here worse. Also an air purifier is a simple product but with so many options I just know there will be electrical hissing/noise problems with most on the market. Don't want to just grab one for cheap off of eBay. There's free delivery rn at Bing Lee but that's not enough to sell me.

Thinking about maybe grabbing a Dyson TP09 or something if they get this low again. In terms of buying a product idk air purifiers have kind of stunted me for the moment I don't quite know what to do. Any places I haven't looked/things I'm missing or not considering?

The only other decent options at the moment look to be for the Hitachis on that same listing, That's a 2 year HEPA filter and I am not sure if I could even find a replacement for it after that point.

Seen anything around?

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

    Winix for $265?

    • Good deal thanks for the suggestion. It looks like a great option but $150 for a replacement filter and only a 1-year approx. use for each filter is pretty pricey. Would equal out soon enough getting a more expensive one with a longer-lasting HEPA

      • Hopefully over the span of the year long lifetime, sales will arise for the better models and you can swap over instead of forking out the 150. I don't know anything about air filters though… I was looking at the Ikea one.

Look at Amazon for cheaper price for replacement filter

        • Didn't realize that there is a QR code for a free replacement filter if you buy today. That becomes a really great deal, am waiting on an answer on marketplace though may be able to just grab a new-ish one for $170 from there

          • @Bowenscheap: Update: I think I got screwed to some degree. Paid $170 and said it had only been used for 4 months, the "replace filter" light is not on and they should be filtering as per usual but when I opened it up and looked a bit closer the thing is coated in what looks like burnt dust. I took it apart and cleaned every part of it carefully but can't do much at all to the HEPA and the item and the purified air coming out all still smells strongly of burnt dust or whatever it is. The fan itself looks clean. Not sure what I can do except replace the filters but there are no third-party filters for this model, only the 5-stage. Cheapest otherwise is $145.

  • I have this one https://www.mydeal.com.au/xiaomi-air-purifier-4-smart-app-co… i like the app features and simple design.

  • I grabbed one of the Hitachis. That model was new during covid and, given the way Hitachi (and most Japanese manufacturers work), I have no doubt a replacement filter will be relatively easy to source. The filters were also discounted so consider buying a spare.

  • I got a Phillips Smart 1000i recently, we switch it to night mode and I literally can't even hear it working in the bedroom at night and I usually wake up if the neighbour's cat farts, which is weird cs I also have tinnitus in both ears and am half deaf…..anyway if noise is an issue this one is OK.

Most of the Phillips range is on sale at Amazon - the 800i is down from $299 to $169. Replacement filters can be had for under $40 from the same source. It's only loud when the air quality is really poor eg after cooking, but it soon settles back into being whisper quiet.
