Ads, ewww
The movies don't have ad
Only the new TV shows
And the old TV shows.
For me, both The Wire and The Day of the Jackal episodes have been pre-rolling 45 seconds (usually 3x15s) then 2 minutes (combinations of 15s, 30s, rarely 45s) after every 10 minutes or so. Most annoying is the limited pool of ads, a Turo 'woah mama', an iPhone 'when I push I feel good', and often a gambling app, every single advertising interruption.
That’s how they start. Used to be no ads, now a little bit of ads. Then ads will be everywhere soon enough
Yes, actually the ads are significant now - somewhere between Netflix with ads and the channel 9 app.
You do also get 30 odd live foxtel channels.
Anyone know any adblockers that work??
Nope I signed up for the ad version and cancelled it less than an hour later. The amount of ads is just ridiculous.
It should be free with ads.
Makes no (profanity) sense to pay a monthly fee AND get ads.
Makes no (profanity) sense to pay a monthly fee AND get ads.
There's the full price version without ads. Then there's the cheaper option where part of the costs are covered by advertising revenue.
You don't have to like it…but what exactly doesn't make sense.
What they said - paying for ads makes no sense.
What doesn't make sense about it. Not liking something doesn't maean it doesn't make sense.
When you go to the cinemas there's ads before the movie. You pay to see the movie and them showing ads before the movie reduces the cost of the ticket.
When you go to the football, the stadium has ads everwhere. This reduces the cost of the tickets.
@PainToad: Paying to watch ads they give you as a way to pay for the program you watch - doesn't make sense.
Watching ads instead of paying makes sense.
Maybe if they had a free version with more ads this would make some sense.
Paying to watch ads they give you as a way to pay for the program you watch
The ad reveune wouldn't be enough to cover the licensing fees for the content they are providing and for them to make the profit they want.
Watching ads instead of paying makes sense.
There's FTA for that. But in return for only having ad reveune to pay for the content, the stuff they broadcast sucks.
To summarize…
Free TV: Fully covered by ad revenue. They can only afford to buy shit content.
Full price Binge: No ads. Subscription price is enough to provide premium content.
Reduced price Binge: Some ads. Subscription price PLUS add revenue is enough to provide premium content.
Make sense now?
Oh don't worry I'll like it ..when I run an adblock filter on my Amazon cube that works with binge.
Makes no (profanity) sense to pay a monthly fee AND get ads.
Foxtel has entered the chat
Makes no (profanity) sense
but it does make $'s and lots of them
Not worth it.
Thanks boss signed up for 2months
Does any adblocker work with Binge?
PiHole might
I couldn't get it to block ads on any of the paid streaming services, unfortunately.
Was worth a shot.
I only use it on Xbox, but gimme a sec, I've got the ad plan I'll throw an episode of something on my laptop and report back
Update: threw on an episode of that Dune show, needed something popular that would have ads, but that I had no interest in (resuming a show I was actually watching would defeat the point bc you don't always get ads on resuming) and I got a 25 second ad for BMW. I have Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, and Ad Guard DNS or whatever it's called. Ad played still :'(
FYI I had 4 lots of 3 unskippable 30 second ads in a ~43 minute show, not as bad as live TV, but definitely not worth paying for
It could free and without ads - I still wouldn't want it.
I hate Murdoch as well, but Binge does actually have a lot of decent content.
Do binge have Sports? AFL?
Nope
"Starting with a bumper finals weekend with the back-to-back AFLW Grand Final and WBBL Grand Final on 30 November and 1 December, sport will appear on BINGE. Following that will be Men’s Big Bash League, Super Netball, and, come winter, NRL and AFL footy on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays (simulcast games) during the regular season with no ad breaks during play."
Didnt know this.. thanks for heads up
Good deal. Too bad I refuse to do business with Murdoch and his News Corp cronies.
I’d rather pirate Binge if it means I don’t give Murdoch a single cent more.
Oh lol ads and 1 screen nope
100%(actually 50%)cashback for 1 month on premium subscription for new subscribers at cash rewards too.
Imo cash rewards is better because I hate ads.
Edit: just saw the terms, it will only be paid after you've paid for two months., maybe this is better
Paying for ads is a deal now ? we are full circle back to old pay tv lmao.
stop paying for this..
Isn't it obvious?
Because TV is no longer the nightly news and neighbours… They are full on productions with Hollywood level special effects and actors, it costs a shitload to produce a show like "The last of us".
If $2 a month is too much for you then you are a lost cause I guess.
Why the hell would you pay for a service with ads?
because you're brainwashed?
I'm brainwashed?
yes now start paying for ads, you know you want to
Oohh, nice, I almost signed up to the $5 one. I only need a couple of months to watch House of Dragons and the new Dune series. Cheers, OP!
Do these ads pop up during a live WWE PPV event?
Meh.
We are not paying for Ads
You are not, you are paying a miniscule amount for the content and the ads are picking up the rest of tab… if you hate them that much then pay the $8 or whatever for ad free, the option is there, no need to neg this deal, some people may have less financial freedom then you do.
Paying to watch ads are you kidding me lol
Haven't seen this posted elsewhere, also to consider
https://www.cashrewards.com.au/store/binge
Cashback for example on annual standard (hence no ads I assume) is $45.50 off the annual $149 = $103.50, or ~ $8.62 a month.
Assume this is also for returning customers, doesn't say its not. Downside is whether it tracks, and locked in for the 12months instead of the other $5 /mon deal that you could exit at any time.
so the Murdoch media are campaigning too ban TikTok (starting with 16 & under here & completely in the US) but are using it to sell their failing streaming service.
which is it Uncle Rupert ?
Not sure where the ads are yet.
Watched Dear Santa last night from start to finish without a single ad! 🤷♂️
Definitely worth the $2 paid already. Especially with the kids home soon for Dec-Jan holidays.
Over already!?
Binge Basic with Ads $4.99/Month for 12 Months (New and Returning Customers) @ Binge
