Was really looking forward to Starbuys BF sale but unfortunately didnt seem to be that great for me anyway 😕. Decent deal here though. Good post.

Same. I even stayed up until midnight and was just disappointed :(

      • YES! Me too.

        • Watch Depot probably has better sales at this point lol.

Yeah, what a snooze fest, no different to lots of previous weekend deals. Starbuy had been keeping the weekend deals really light to make this look like something :-/

I counted 11 models under $300 and about 45 models over $1K lol. None of the BF prices are actually any lower than their regular sale prices throughout the year.

StarBuy used to stock far more affordable watch options in the past but they've become decidedly more oriented towards luxury brands with ridiculous markups in the last few years at the expense of more mass appeal, sanely-priced stuff.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It seemed more like their regular weekend lineup, just with more items. Nothing particularly spectacular.

This will be my first Citizen watch and my first analog chronograph.

I'm hoping to build my collection as I'm somehow drawn to analog watches and would love to own a few nice pieces.

I prefer larger dials and want to ensure I buy what I like without splurging too much.
Based on this watch and its look and feel, I'd love to hear from experts about what I should consider buying next or keep an eye out for.

The link mentions that the watch is solar-powered. Does this mean it has a longer-lasting battery or that I won't need to replace the battery at all?"

Eco-Drive is a type of solar system which can charge the battery from artificial lighting or the sun. I think citizen states the rechargeable battery should be good for 10 years. So yes, it does not need regular battery replacements like a traditional quartz watch, but it will still need its battery replaced eventually.

    • I'm no expert… but this really depends on what you want and not really much of what others think. Given this is a chrono with a utility type look, personally I'd be looking for something a little more dressy, possibly in an automatic movement with a nice smooth swwoping second hand. But that's just me if I were in your position and trying to cover all situations I wanted to wear a timepiece.

If you keep it charged and don't keep letting it go flat by leaving it in a drawer for months at a time - wihich the energy cell doesn't like - then 20+ years before needing to change the cell isn't uncommon, and there are plenty of old eco-drives out there that have never needed a replacement.

The E660 movement in this watch in addition though has a power save function, which starts shtutting down functions of the watch (eg: stops moving the hands) if it is left in the dark for long periods, which extends its running time even more. Note though it is a reasonably complex movement to set - you will almost certainly find yourself referring to some of the youtube videos that step you through setting this specific watch movement.

  • late last night sent a price beat link on a watch, woke up this morning and all watches in that range now out of stock……
