Amazon Account Closed - Any Luck with Restoring It?

Hello Ozb,

I found out today my amazon account has been closed when I tried to login.

It returned with an error "We cannot find an account with that email address"

Contacted the listed number and all they could see is that account closed by customer.

I actually never closed the account.

No email received regarding account closed.

It is not restricted or suspended or closed for misuse or other over return causes according to amazon.

This is all the information they could provide me and said Account Specialist will be in touch.

Three different reps - same answer.

As much as I understand I will need to patiently wait, I was wondering if anyone has any experience re-opening/reinstating their account by Amazon

as I had over $1600 as my gift card balance from the 10% off deal recently.

I even had my amazon order delivered to me today.

It's all quite confusing and a bit stressful due to the significant amount of account balance.

Any tips to speed up process? Personal experiences?

I would wait for them to follow up but if they don't within the 5 days I would contact them again and say that you have waited 5 days and got no email. Tell them that you would really like to get it resolved today because you are worried you will lose your credit. You could keep trying today and see if you get a good person. I had to do that for one of my support problems. I had a problem with a Sony product and it took 10 times asking and talking to different people for them to start the return process. Most did the same thing and say that I would get an email in a few days. I literally waited 2 weeks and got nothing. When I got the right person I got an email right after and sent it back with no problems. Your problem should be not as hard because it's an account problem not a return. I hope you get it back soon for all the deals.

I just received the following email from them

      "Hello,

We have restored your access to this account. You can now sign in and place orders.

Thank you for your patience and we are sorry if any inconvenience was caused.

      Account Specialist
      Amazon.com.au
      https://www.amazon.com.au"

At least that is good news. They did not provide a reason why.

I still cannot however login into my account and it returns the same error.

Might need to wait out an hour or two according to customer service whom I called again.

With large dollars in your Amazon account I would be more worried of a hacked account. I'd recommend double checking on the web if your email and passwords have appeared on the dark web.

If you have been very careful and lucky then Amazon's two factor authentication would have been enough to protect your account from hackers.

    • I am super careful. I just changed my password two days ago and set up passkey. 2FA was already setup.
Nothing makes sense as I never received any email for closure too.
Now that I am connecting the dots, I remember my alexa started talking crap in the middle of the night two nights ago and entered setup mode.
I am assuming that is when my account got closed.
I did not open amazon for couple of days until this arvo.
Also, Amazon CS over the phone confirmed they can see my account balance now.

  • This is why I said in the different threads, dont load it all into the account, it has no expiry anyway, can be resold if need to rather than stress over shyt like this happening with no clear reasoning. Lesson learned mate

  • I missed the call from Amazon to confirm I authorised the payment (they think my account was hacked), so they just caneled my order. I tried to contact their customer service but they always said they have sent request to the specialist who will respond to me within 24-48 hours, but I haven't received any information yet… Wonder if anyone has this kind of experience and how to get the issue resolved asap :(
