  • How do these compare against the zojurishi bottles?

  • +10

Personal rule for CamelBak - Never get the ones with the straw. They get so dirty and are very hard to clean.

Always get the one with the Chute opening. It's a million times easier to clean, and you get more water each time.

    • Unfortunately there is no deal for those ones.

They get so dirty and are very hard to clean.

I remember trying to clean my first eddy, it was an absolute nightmare to clean.

+1 to the chute lids. good thing about chute lids is you can put them on the eddy bottle. so if you have an insulated eddy, and find a cheap chute then you can swap the lids

      • I could never find an instrument that fully got all the gunk out. Seriously terrible design. The Chutes are great! I did the exact swap as you said.

      • I've got the Chute lid in 1L and its great, was going to get the straw lid for my kid but how bad are they to clean really?
I saw the same blue in the chute lid is on special for $30 through US (https://www.amazon.com.au/CAMELBAK-Chute-Vacuum-Insulated-St…) or can get the LID from AU for $12.50 separately.

The eddy has the silicon tip you bite on and the straw, straw is fine to clean, the silicon bit is really annoying though, the design is bad as well as it wears down, eventually the tip doesnt stay flipped down etc. I had to get a tooth pick, wrap tissue paper in it and scrub the inside of it to get it clean, just awful.

I'd probably just get the whole bottle, can't hurt to have multiple bottles anyway.

Agreed, this is why I've held off buying any bottle with straws.

I've got the Chute as well. Have owned it for a few years and it's still going strong. Water stays cool all day. The lid can get pretty funky though, but as you mentioned way easier to clean.

      • Yep can just chuck it in the dishwasher with the lid detached and that's all it needs. Works great.

    • Actually, the chute also needs regular cleaning. Because I only wash my bottle lid once a week/two weeks, it still ended up having mold. Had to throw it away

      • Dishwasher every few days keeps it clean, same with the eddy lid

The Chutes are great bottles but if you look in the lid you will see an O-ring up there, You have to take it out and clean it, stuff builds up in there.

And if you mangle it getting it in it out then you're out of luck because CamelBak does not sell them seperate you have to buy a whole new top.

I liked mine a lot but I ended up swapping to a Yeti Rambler, more options for parts there.

  • last time i got this 900 ml for 10 bucks

    • Where?

  • A note about these, you can buy replacement spouts in packs of two with straws which is great, downside is the spouts come off pretty easily so these are not great as kids drink bottles.

    • They make a kids lid that you can use where the tip doesn'tt come off.

The most annoying thing about these bigger water bottles is they don't fit in the cup/door bottle holders in the car. It's a disaster.
