This is the most powerful 4xAA flashlight on the market. It is on par with most top end speciality Li-Ion flashlights.

Please see detailed information and specs here:
http://www.nitecore.com/productDetail.aspx?id=72

There is 2 codes for the 2 versions.

Cool white: EA4t8Y9w1

Warm white: EA4Wt8Y9w1
http://www.hkequipment.net/index.php?sp=&p=6&cat2=31&cat1=13…

It was only released about a week ago and normal price is $69USD, I got him to accept this price to match Aliexpress (the lowest price on the internet) as I have been scammed there 3 times. At hkequipment I have made 5+ orders in the past and they have very good customer service, support and fast shipping.

If you are a flashaholic you will already know how awesome this is.

If you are used to Dolphins, Maglites or supermarket LED's this will blow your socks off.

  • Very tempting.

Can anybody else comment on the site? Reputable?

Most people will be happy with one of these for $5.25 delivered -
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7W-300LM-Mini-CREE-LED-Flashlight…

    • They are only about 100 lumens on a AA battery.

But you are right, people that aren't in to flashlights are easily impressed by the Sipik SK68 clones.

    • looks pretty good to me…

  • Price of $55 AUD only assumes if you have the best exchange rate depending on your payment method.

  • Thanks very much OP. just ordered :)

  • Just ordered 1 as well. Thanks OP :)

Here are some beamshots taken by "flashlight man" from BLF if anyone is interested.

The tree is 55 meters away:

The blocks on the hill are 85 meters away, the trees in the background are 200 meters away:

  • So this is a thrower? I need something that has more flood than my cheap Ultrafires.

    • From the pics the flood looks pretty good but it is a thrower (marketed as a search light), I haven't received mine yet but they will throw a solid wall of light pretty far.

XM-L LED's will usually always have good flood because they have a 125 degree viewing angle as opposed to XR-E (for example) at 90 degrees. The reflector will play a part as well but in my opinion its still good for both flood and throw.

  • 860 Chinese lumens - how many ANSI lumens is that? 400?

  • What are these torches designed for?

    • They are all purpose but are marketed as search lights.

      • +1

Thanks for your reply mate - if I buy this torch to use when I get out of bed to go to the toilet is it going to be too sharp on my eyes?

        • I think you wouldn't be able to "aim" at the target. lol~

        • You could put it on the low setting and turn it off, then when you turn it back on in the middle of the night it will come back on in low mode. Or if you point it at the carpet and turn it on just to be sure, light doesn't reflect very well off carpet.

If that's the only use I would recommend a Romisen RC-G2 or something similar for $12, but if you will have other uses for it its hard to pass up.

        • Thanks heap for your reply - yes mate I will also use it outdoors - but your photo you took is absolutely fantastic - 200 metres that's insane mate

        • No problem, the photos were taken by "flashlight man" from BLF and don't belong to me.

It should light up to 283 meters by the ANSI rating.

  • This is an excellent deal but the site seems extremely slow, I think my order was successful but it never loaded the page after checkout. I did get a confirmation email but I have not been charged yet.

    • You can contact customer with this email: [email protected]
Or via the website by clicking contact down the bottom of any page.

He may have too much traffic at the moment because of this deal.

The site was down for me too for the last 5 mins or so but seems good now.

He usually works late nights and weekdends doing customer support so it shouldn't be long for a reply.

      • I placed another order and it worked properly. I asked them to cancel the previous order.

  • site is slow but i just got through
also do not select the dropdown $5 discount as it will render the $10 off code unusable

this light is fine with eneloops right?? i am using this with a tn30 so i can have good flood and throw

    • Yes, enloops would probably be the best for this light as they can sustain the high drain quite easily.

Alkaline will be usable but I suspect the performance will suffer after only a few minutes.

Energizer Ultimate Lithiums are good too but even at the cheapest price they are too expensive to be disposable if you plan to use/play with it a lot.

  • The candlepowerforums discussion about this torch is very positive, and the price from this deal is as good as their best deals

  • Just bought one as well. Looks like the perfect camping torch and certainly beats carrying around those huge torches.

  • What do people recommend between cool white & warm white?

    • I prefer warm white as its closer to sunlight and gives natural colours, cool white will make everything look high contrast although it will be a little brighter.

      http://igirder.com/lights/xpgr4-5b1/r4r5outside.jpg

Thats warm on the left and cool on the right, it comes down to what different people prefer though.

    • Well, if I may be pedantic, "cool" white is technically closer to sunlight.
"Warm" white feels more natural because it's closer to the incandescent lights that we are used to.

Got one too, thanks for nothin OP now I have to sell myself to get through Christmas financially. :P

  • How about a deal on the Thrunite TN31? The ultimate bang for your buck thrower!!!

  • Can someone enlighten me on what a thrower torch is? I assume it's not a torch someone literally throws into the dark to illuminate an area for 4 seconds?

    • +3

A thrower will usually light up a long distance away with little a narrower beam, a light that floods will light up a wider area but the light wont travel as far. So a thrower is more focused as it uses most of the light on a smaller area and flood spreads the same amount of light over a larger but shorter area.

I just made a quick diagram in paint that might be able to explain it better.

      • +1

wow dude you take your diagrams seriously… I only make diagrams if I'm getting paid.

    • Thrower is a flashlight that is more spot oriented than flood (ie. it throws its beam farther).

This Nitecore EA4 is a helluva lotta flashlight for $55. If it's built anywhere as solid as their earlier ones, it will be bulletproof.

  • 22 hours runtime, very impressive.

  • Thanks OP.
    Got 1.

  • order placed. Thanks OP.
    How long does post take?

    • Xmas rush will slow things down, usually I have my order from him in about 7 days but it could be a week or so extra at a guess with all the extra mail and holidays coming up.

  • I tried to buy 2 but the code only gives one discount so have to buy 1 at a time. pity about the postage

    • Postage is free, but if you want you should message him to combine it. He probably will anyway if he gets the 2 orders at the same time.

  • Gah. which to get. Cool or warm white? :/

    • +1

Cool is a tiny bit brighter, warm is easier on the eyes.

  • so paying with PAYPAL $59 us = $58 aus

paypal Exchange rate: 1 Australian Dollar = 1.01724 US Dollars

    • That is why I use the 28degrees credit card which has exchange rate around $1.05

  • Both models (Cool & Neutral white) sold out, but available for pre-order.

  • you can also check ThruNite™ Official eBay Store: http://stores.ebay.com/Thrunite-Flashlight-Torch

  • Picked up mine today, it was sitting at the post office since the 24th.

    Cant wait until its night.

Just got mine, wow, very impressed. I got a led lenser T7 and this one is really bright.

Did you find how to use the turbo mode ok? It took me a long time until I finally turned to the manual but it was pretty easy.

In the normal 4 mode setting half press the button and hold for 1 sec then it goes to turbo.

I took some beam shots against my PA40 here:

      https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jzMtrGr4Q8c/UNxOGq-ZF0I/A…

      https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-HKXsCxQzd0g/UNxYJOQ9u2I/A…

      • Yeah if you don't read the instruction then it is hard to figure it out. You would think it is easier to operate a torch these days. I do like this torch.

      • +2

The alternative is to go straight into Turbo Mode ==> with light off, FULL press the button and release. (you can then HALF press to cycle between Turbo and High).

If you want to temporarily activate Turbo while holding down the button ("momentary function") ==> with light off, FULL press the button and HOLD.

BTW, the instructions to Exit Lockout Mode are incorrect as it is impossible to "press 3 times within 1 second". They should be ==> press and hold button for 3 seconds.

Is anyone who ordered this still waiting on delivery?

I ordered on 17 December, got a confirmation email from hkequipment on 18 December, but am still waiting (Sydney metro).

    • Yep, Melbs, got confirmation on the 16th.

    • I contacted them yesterday, as I still haven't received anything. Received back a reply today saying they have no stock (they had stock when I ordered). Very unhappy with their service and communication and have cancelled the order. Hope they don't take forever to refund my money. Definitely will not be purchasing from this company again.

      • Did they say whether they shipped the order or not?
Or did they run out of stock and put it on back-order?

        • After receiving a confirmation email I thought mine was sent. Very disappointed to find out it wasn't. Apparently, they ran out of stock of the warm white. Wish they told me. If I didn't check I would still be waiting. Now just waiting for a refund.

    • UPDATE: I just had my EA4 delivered this morning via AusPost.
For the record, that's 20 elapsed days after the the confirmation email (includes xmas/new year holidays).

      • Yeah, I got mine then too. I am not dissapointed with the light.

  • My EA4W arrived yesterday (7/01/13) and was ordered on the 16/12/12. I forgot I had even ordered it so it was a pleasant surprise! :)

  • Ordered mine on the 17th, sent them an email earlier in the week and got nothing back. Might have to do a charge back on the credit card.

  • +3

FYI, I have created a colour-coded Quick Reference Guide or cheat sheet for the EA4 (in PDF format). You can download it from the following link…

    http://budgetlightforum.com/node/17442

  • They are utter bastards to get a reply out of. I had to threaten them with a charge-back if they remained silent. THEN they finally replied.

  • Well it's pretty nifty. I'd buy more but their (lack of) support erks me.
