LG Australia: 15% Upsized Cashback @ Cashrewards

140

Got a Cashrewards email today with 15% cashback LG.com until midnight tomorrow night. I can't see anything in the T&C's that state cashback isn't available on already discounted products. So by my calcs, after 15% cashback the price for the C4 65-inch should be $2999 - ($2999 x 15%) = $2549.15. Edit: GST not eligible for cashback. Per this GST calculator GST is $272.64. So actual cost after cashback is $2999 - (($2999 - $272.64) x 15%) = $2590.05

Since this is such a low price, I'm sure I've just missed something somewhere. The Cashrewards conditions state:

Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

And I couldn't find anything on LG.com that prevents cashback on discounted items.

Edit: per https://www.cashrewards.com.au/category/technology this 15% cashback is 100% confirmed as for being on top of the 40% of LG TVs for black friday. Image for posterity

I'm not sure I'd risk it. Rather just buy from JB by price matching https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled65c4psa-lg-65-inch-o…

As long as logged in to CR before clicking the deal it should all work out well. For insurance, could always just screen record the shopping process, then submit evidence if CR don't wanna honour the cashback. If I was shopping for a C4 (I'm not cos C1 still going strong) I'd go for the cashback no worries, and just badger customer support/CR CEO until take the actions they are required to.

$2590 via CR vs $2675 on store.. its a big "if" you get the CR stuff vs well guaranteed pricing.
I love Cashback stuff but when it doesn't work on big ticket items it's way more frustrating.

Under CashRewards.com > Categories > Technology is a banner and it says:

          LG
Black Friday deals up to 40% on LG TVs
          15% Cashback
          Ends: tomorrow.

There's no way in hell, that CashRewards can/could argue that they are offering anything other than an additional 15% cashback on the already 40% discounted LG TVs.

Again, record the process and if any problems, the only way CashRewards can decline the cashback is by breaking Aus consumer law.

Now, anyone that wants an excellent price on this TV can relax and just go grab it. People are welcome to be cautious and anxious, but as that type of person myself, I can confidently (irony lol) say this is 100% offer is for a further 15% on top of the 40% off RRP for BF.

          • @sickaunt: You’ll get better price at a retailer with little effort and don’t have to rely on a potentially non tracked sale and or waiting x period of time for the funds to come back

If every dollar counts sure might work out but you will be able to go in to a job or gg or hm and get the same deal and not have the hassles of waiting for delivery and the risk factor the cashback doesn’t apply or tracked it might be low chance but I’m going with the less risky option

Any thoughts on whether this stacks with the spin and win voucher?
I assume this part excludes it, but you never know…

Looking at what peeps said here from a while ago, it seems they were able to stack their "spin and win" with the cashback. Does anyone know if this term existed back then? they could technically point to it and reject so it seems like a gamble:

Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

    • I think the key is 'lowers the price advertised' - the discounted price is the advertised price. So since LG are advertising the discounted price, CR can't claim that the customer has used "any type of discount" to further discount the price. LG did that, no the customer.

Also, the examples given are of discounts not provided by the merchant nor by CR. To me, indicating they mean you can't stack CR cashback with other discount available through other means external to the Merchant.

I wouldn't put it past any company trying to get cute and deny cashback using the type of wording from the CR page, but I'm also fairly certain that IF they did, escalation to CEO or ACCC involvement would have it resolved in the customer's favour. *Fairly certain based on my almost-perfect success rate of jumping hurdles as a customer of many service providers and manufacturers.

      • To clarify, I'm referring to the additional "spin and win" coupons you can win from LG. They do reduce the price to below the advertised discounted price.

Oh righto, my bad. Yeah that would most likely be an exclusion imo.

  • Better to go to store and purchase it if is just a $100 difference. CR might just reject it saying its a black friday deal which is not mentioned in their website.

  • It appears that these cashback offers from Cash rewards all end tomorrow night. Is it worthwhile to wait for actual Black Friday for even better deals?

Even with the cashback these prices arn't that low. I'm waiting for proper BF or boxing day sales to see if the price is better.

      • Far as I can tell, sub-$2600 for a 65-inch C-series is quite low. Only better prices on OzB have been for LG VIP members.

        • I misremembered what the ATL for the c4 was. It’s not a bad price, but it’s been <$2.6k a few times this year already. Including a couple days ago with TGG Cashback.

Just think there’s more room to move if you arn’t in a rush to buy.

  • Can I use LG coupon $50 (welcome first LG member) with this cashback?

    • Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.
