Belong Mobile $45 100GB 1-Month Starter Pack for $20 + Delivery ($0 to 10km of Store/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Officeworks

240

Limited 2 per customer.

I am not sure how many months it can last. Will previous method such as change the plan to $21 pm or what so ever can still be used?

Free 2hr delivery to within 10km of store as well.

By the way, this can also be used to "charge you existing account" (which i believe is a grey area and only available once per 6 months) by "activating replacement sim" option.

To make it last 3 months you need to pay an extra $7 now. So $45 + $20 referral equals $65 credit.

    1st month $30 (25GB) - 2nd month $21 (7GB) - 3rd month $21 (7GB)

Still $27 for 3 months isn't bad if you want a break from Sim slutting monthly but not much data (39GB). The good thing is data slows to 1Mbps if you use it all.

    • How do you do this?
My wife overseas and her yearly Vodafone runs out next month.
This is what i am looking. Very cheap plan for 3 months.

      Your help much appreciated.
      Thanks

    • thanks, ordered for delivery

    • How does it go down to $21 on the 2nd/3rd month?

      • +1

Once your account is set up you can move plans so it's ready for the next payment date.

Unfortunately they don't let you activate on the $21 plan. Belong Plans.

          Thanks for the reply.

Handy with the current promotion - double data. So 200GB for $20.

Thanks. Will add to shopping list.
Have Flybuys $50 offer for $50 spend for 4 weeks & $50 on card from offer just finished.

      • +1

*Cant pay for SIM with Flybuys credit

        • I haven't bought any SIM card at Coles for a long time, but the last time probably in 2022, it could be paid by eGC. At Woolworths, it is a complicated hit and miss even for the same Telco.

this can also be used to "charge you existing account"

Did not know this! Just tried it and it added $45 to my existing account, nice one OP!

    • (which i believe is a grey area and only available once per 6 months)

so can we buy 2 of these and get 5 months in total ?

      1st month $30 (25GB) - 2nd month $21 (7GB) - 3rd month $21 (7GB) - 4th month $21 (7GB) - 5th month $21 (7GB)

    • +2

Oh you did not know that… I thought everyone knew that and it used to be the very easy and unlimited (theoretically) "recharges" method…

Now I think for your next "recharge" you have to justify why you need to replace the sim card to the support agent - of course not for the recharge purpose.

      You could say:

Sometimes I got poor signal; or
      I cannot receive message; or…

And depending on different agents, he/she might refuse to activate the replacement sim for you - then it will be the time to move on.

      • This sounds risky & they might apply their "Acceptable Use Policy" if they believe a customer is misusing their service.

        Customer Terms.

      • So basically you end up using the replacement sim (from this deal), and they'll add the existing credit to your account?

Sounds awesome - saves porting away.

        • +1

Correct, I had some referral credit existing and it added $45 to it. Not sure what will happen if you didn't have any credit but I assume it is the same principle.

      • do we need to contact a person to do the replacement? not automated?

        • +1

Automated via the sim replacement link in your service.

    • wouldn't it still be better to port away and come back?
      Paying $20 for $45 vs Paying $20 for $45 + $20 referral credit

  • Can I activate this and transfer 100gb (or 200gb double data) to my existing SIM / phone number ?

    • Yes. You could also just activate this on a 400GB data plan and transfer that.

    • Sure.

And referral yourself too, so you'll have additional credit!

    • I would activate in a family member's name so you can't be accused of breaching their "Acceptable Use Policy".

Another option is to buy data on eBay for less.

    • last time I got one from Amazon the sim couldn't be activated and had to be returned

      • Oh right, how long ago was that?

        • +1

          Early this year.

I assume its like when you get one at OW/Coles/etc the sim barcode gets scanned in and gets enabled on their system upon purchasing so the sim card number can be activated later on - which the ones from Amazon seems to have bypassed that process so when you enter the sim card number into the belong system it is unrecognised and cant be activated.

Not sure if process has changed now at Amazon but there are similar comments in the reviews on amazon

          • @mrshorty: most probably this, they need to activate the sim using barcode so that it will be valid for 12 months, the sim only has a printed date of manufacture

      • Did you check production date on Pack was not more than 1 year before you activated?
        See warning below

        • yep i didnt notice any issues with the production date - just couldnt be activated

          • +1

            @mrshorty: So Amazon stuffed up.
But only know that when can't activate.

Whether seller has added it to Belong system is unknown. In stores, a receipt is provided to show that it has.

Production date is at least visible. Able to be easily exchanged - if pack hasn't been opened.

When I complained in store @Woolies, staff found many (expired) 2021 production dated packs on display.
Those went in bin, as have no value until registered on Belong system.

            • @INFIDEL: The first Belong $45 SP deal on OZB was in April 2021, replacing the previously $40 SP. It was about the time of its first release. Belong should not have forfeited those after 3 years as it hasn't increased price like Boost from $45 to $49. However, the practice looks a trap for customers.

I have no doubt that Vodafone SP manufactured in 2019 from a pocket modern still works.

              • +1

@Neoika: Belong told me production dates more than a year old will likely be expired.

The $45 SIM Pack sold by Woolies was produced on 14/4/21. So expired.

SIMs bought more than 12 months before activated will likely be worthless. But some have successfully activated them.

Have 10 Voda SIMs (bought with their pocket modems) that they refuse to honour as too old production date / Voda SIM code. Tried & gave up years ago.

                • @INFIDEL: I know the story. Vodafone phased out all SPs starting with activation code U/V in 2019. And Kogan did something similar later. They do batch phase-out rather than manufacture date. The current ones I got manufactured in 2019, 2023, 2024 all starting with U09. Maybe in 2029, it will phase out all U09, but years before then, obviously there will be new codes.

                  • @Neoika: Yes, I.know that story too😉
But my activation approach only worked once.
When they realised I had multiple SIMs, they accused me of stealing all my 3GB Vodafone SIM Starter Packs… "How do we know you didn't steal these??"

Gave up trying - after FREE SIMs posted on Ozbargain😂

                • @INFIDEL:

Belong told me production dates more than a year old will likely be expired

*Belong staff were probably confusing time limit of 1 year to activate after purchase (stated on SIM pack), with time since production date before SIM becomes expired!!

Activated Belong SIM in July, that had production date 10/5/22.

                • @INFIDEL: Yeah, I wasted a few too then.

                  • +1

@ozhunter68: Guess those were the "never expire" Voda SIMs… That expired😜
Gave up on those. Not worth the hassle.

Belong have been in contact a few times, after told Support I would raise issue of selling worthless EXPIRED SIMs with appropriate authority.

It's bad for customers, retailer, & Belong. Belong Support agreed & apologised.

Sent email of proof of purchase today. Luckily kept it.

Belong have promised call tomorrow - to confirm $45 credit added to current account. Not happy, but best solution I could arrange.

                    • @INFIDEL: Yep, a dozen or so stockpiled from good deals and from cheap 3G modem /Sim pack clearance deals from HN etc. Actually managed to get at least 8 or so swapped for fresh ones, but lost around $50 worth cost price ($200-$300 RRP), and had a 2 hour round trip to drive to Company Voda Store to get that done. A fair bit of hassle, but worth it for me as have more time than money. Looked at the drive as a nice day out to fancy Robina Shopping Centre (Gold Coast).

    Warning! Before opening Pack:
Check production date on BELONG pack is within about 1 year

Mid year, bought $45 Belong Starter pack on special from Woolies.

    SIM failed to activate!!!
Contacted BELONG… Told SIM was expired! Checked production date: 2021!!

Woolies staff found older packs! But wouldn't replace or refund - contact Belong!

As needed it that day (to transfer accumulated 650GB Data to new Belong SIM or lose it), told by Belong to buy another pack @$45😜
Despite promises, still haven't been compensated by Belong.

    • +1

Simple solution: don't buy belong or lebara that has expiry issue reported. My SIM hoppings are always smooth without dealing with those troublesomes(others like lyca, ezysim, yomoji).

      • +1

SIM hopped for 8 years. Never with those!

        And not quite that simple!
        Hence my warning.

Have had SIM expiry issues with majors - Telstra, Vodafone, etc!

Been using Telstra owned Belong for years. This was only problem.

Have also bought expired Telstra SIM! Another hassle. So couldn't SIM hop when went to use it.
But that was so long ago - didn't remember to check production date on this Belong SIM pack.

Belong SIMs expire 12 months after purchase. Shown on Pack.

Mine expired within 4 months of purchase!! Due to old production Date.

      • Agree with "Infidel" sometimes not that simple, as sometimes older Sims Will Activate, sometimes Not. Human nature also as we sometimes forget or get complacent. I have been Sim hopping for over 10 years since the days rules changed and could keep/port your number, but now only port every 6-12 months as not worth the hassle and/or risk. I still do activate many new Sims to supplement data in 2nd and 3rd phone so I always maximise my chance of reception as I travel a lot(Telstra, Optus, Voda).

    • +1

*Older SIMs might be able to be activated.
Activated Belong SIM in July, that had production date 10/5/22.

    • 🎉After 2 month delay, Belong today added $45 credit to my account🎉
Due to selling worthless EXPIRED $45 SIM.

That extends my current almost 3 months of SIM by 2M @$21/M.

*Woolies did finally refund the purchase price ($22) of EXPIRED $45 SIM!
That earnt me 1000 EDR points.

      So paid $18 ($45 - $22 - $5 EDR) for $110 Belong credit💰
      (2 x $45 credit + $20 referral credit!)

      Not a bad outcome😄

  • +3

Still available at Coles until the 10th Dec.

    • +1

      Came back to add that.
      Finding stock is the issue.

Few 2022 SIMs left at stores I tried. Contacted Belong, but they cant tell if can be activated - until after you buy😜

      Try a price match.
