  • Just moved into a new place and need everything this set provides, is this any good?

    • I have used the blower and the line trimmer as I have previously owned them and I thought they worked well. Not the best on the market for sure, but far from the worst.

Cant comment on the mower but my brother owns an older version and he likes it.

      • I just bought the mower by itself about six weeks ago, this bundle would've been much better :/

The mower is fine, very compact for smaller gardens. I need two 4Ah batteries to do both my front and back yard and nature strip in one go, so you've just gotta make sure it's appropriate for the yard size vs the larger and more powerful mowers.

About my main gripe is that while the handles do fold over the mower so it can be stored compactly, you pretty much have to take the handle off the mower and also loosen screws for the top half of the handle to do so. I would've appreciated a design that made it easier. I don't want to constantly set up and dismantle the handle when the lawn needs mowing almost every week in summer.

I have all 3 but purchased separately and paid over $475 2 years back together (but still only one 5Ah battery). The 4Ah battery will give you 15-20 mins in the mower, so having two batteries is good.

Ideal for smaller gardens and more frequent mowing. If the grass gets too tall, I have to mow backwards to avoid the mower getting stuck. If you have a huge backyard or don't mow often, much better off getting a more powerful mower.

      • What set is recommended as a step up from this? I have a fairly medium size lawn (back and front combine)

        • Not sure what your medium size indicates. Mine's about 40sqm all together. In any case, I don't have a recommendation tbh. Ryobi has larger mowers but the biggest battery I can see is 6Ah, so your runtime is going to be under 30 mins. Take that as you will.

read this and all your questions will be answered https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666105

        • I have a medium sized front and back and have the 36V ryobi mower. If the grass is long, I can't do both lawns with one battery. If they are short I can easily do both, but I normally wait til it is longer.

So I have 3 batteries, because once a year they sell 2 batteries for the price of 1.

The line on the whipper snipper is horrible as well. They're thin, doesn't cut well and snap easily. I'd recommend you use other trimmer lines and wrap your own around the original spool. They cut soooo much better.

The only issue is that it still snags on the spool if you don't wrap it well, so it snaps then you need to take out the spool to pull some line out.

Otherwise agreed with the mow backwards when too tall as well.

      • I'd recommend you use other trimmer lines and wrap your own around the original spool. They cut soooo much better.

You can buy Ryobi compatible spools with various thickness and shaped lines. Saves the manual winding.

      • soak in water first, 10 mins will do but 30 is better. dont wet the motor just the line

      • Any specific suggestions for the trimmer lines? Is it possible to use thicker lines?

    • +1

I got this set last year, they are entry level but works perfectly for me and great value for anyone who needs all 3 and 2 decent batteries

      • Do you have a thick grass like buffalo in your lawn?

    • We have a small lawn, under 100 m2 both front and back combined. Borrowed this set from a friend. Mower and trimmer are perfectly fine. The mower sometimes stalls when the grass is super overgrown, lifting the front a bit solves the issue. 2 batteries is enough to cut and trim.

  • +2

Still waiting for the 36v Ryobi mower for my Buffalo grass lawn.

Here on of the review on Bunnings website:

The performance of the mower to cut tall or thick grass over 5cm high will leave you struggling and it can and will stall from the thick grass. The mower does not have enough torque to cut through the thick grass so you'll need to lift the front of the mower up and lower it onto the tall grass to get an efficient cut. The line trimmer is by far the worse and most useless line trimmer I have ever used. The line constantly feeds itself whenever you start and stop the line trimmer which in turn uses up the line quicker than you can boil a pot of water.

    • +3

You’ll find a lot of the 18v battery mowers will struggle with longer (or wet) grass. 36v is better however will still have its issues from time to time. If you’re mowing weekly and keeping things under control you’ll have a much better time of it.

    • The line constantly feeds itself whenever you start and stop the line trimmer

I spool it backwards to solve this. You can still feed the line by depressing the button while pulling on the line.

Been using the line trimmer for a year now with Oregon cord

You will waiting a while for a proper sale. Also i have rarely seen "good" tools in any deal/kits. Best you can do is wait for a gift card promotion that they advertise at the bottom of promo emails.

      • Yeah it been a while with no 36v Ryobi on sale! The gift idea was brilliant thanks.

  • This deal always come out at this price on black Friday. Except during those COVID years. It was 450 bucks. And I was in need of one that time so I paid 450 bucks a couple of years ago. Good to see the price is returning to normal level again.

For those who have questions on effectiveness

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666105

This set is good for small lawns only imo

  • +7

Even a 36V mower struggle when grass is reasonably long, I would not recommend a 18V mower.

    • And ensure the blade is sharp

  • How is the workshop blower for $79? Has anyone used it?

    • Only good for workshop or small space.

      • Any good for blow drying a car for detailing?

        • Nope. Not powerful enough.

    • More powerful than my two garden blowers at short range, possibly due to the nozzle reducing down to a more intense beam.

      • Is it good for a small garden?

        • +2

Tried it in my back yard, not powerful enough to blow grass clippings

    • I didn't really need the blower. But I did use it to clean my roof gutter lol.

  • +2

Surprisingly no Ozito Deals on mowers and etc

  • +1

Good deal! Any more to come from Bunnings or that’s it?

    • Yeah I can only see 20-30 items and not really many blockbusters.

  • How would returns work with bundles like these? Interested in the jet blower as I already have the mower and line trimmer.

    • Are you asking if you can buy the kit and then return the mower and line trimmer…?

      • -1

More or less. Wanting to know if its more value buying the bundle and returning (if possible) vs jet blower outright.

        • You can't buy the bundle and return the bits you don't want 🤦‍♂️

          • @ak47wong: I suppose that answers my question then, thanks!

If they did allow it, be interested to hear if anyone had done this (with any bundled set) and ended up with a singular product for cheaper then outright.

        • +1

Maybe we could come to an agreement, I only need the mower and batteries really. PMed.

          • @astroe: I only need the whipper snipper. I'm in vic

          • @astroe: Only need blower, based in vic

  • Has anyone used the sander? Any good for small home diy? Need to sand and stain a tv cabinet

    • I have a dewalt but this should do the job no problem.. good price cause you get battery kirs also.

    • I have not used the Ryobi random orbital, but have used a Makita and own the Ozito, The Ryobi should be at least as good as the Ozito. At this price, its a very good deal. Battery alone is about $80 from memory.

Random orbital sanders are ideal for this type of work as they tend to leave less swirl marks than standard orbital sanders

    • +2

If you dont have batteries already, you might be better off with a corded one no matter how good this deal is. Sanding can 3-10+ hours depending on how perfect you want it.
Waiting for batteries that might limit you to 1 hour stints would be frustrating.

  • Damn, bought the mower for 299 not long ago

  • Hi, I've got a medium sized lawn 300_400~ sqrM.

I've found my 18v Ryobi to struggle since moving to this place. Can anyone help me understand if upgrading to an EGO Select Cut would be a wise choice?

    I'm thinking of two approaches:
    1. Transitioning to Ozito so I can utilize the 36v steel deck mower and all the other gear Ozito has in their ecosystem.

    Or

    1. Get an EGO Select Cut mower and commit to another brand and it's ecosystem as I will HAVE to my entire Ryobi bundle set I have at home.

Thanks in advance for your input.

    • +1

Similar position, I kept my entire Ryobi 18v tools, only bought the ozito 36v mower 38mm model plus 2 extra batteries, good enough for my 400ish sqm size lawn

    • Sorry for typo, "I will HAVE to RETURN my entire Ryobi bundle set I have at home"

  • Ryobi 36V all the way.

I use their whipper snipper and the power is comparable to a petrol one - minus the fumes and weight

  • Read through comments from the last time this Ryobi bundle was on sale and it seems the consensus is that it's junk?

Would this fare any better? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18v-cordless-l…

    • Wont touch this set too
Maybe ok for a really small lawn…

  • +1

Why don’t they ever have a Ryobi 36v version on sale? Always the underpowered versions

    • +1

that's the way it is. Always helps out people new to power tools. Just lookout for Ryobi's promo/marketing emails they always have gift card deals

      • Was also hoping for some Ozito mower deals too?

  • +1

Will probably get the Ryobi workshop blower to clean the PC and dust out the bagless vacuum.

  • +1

Are these all the deals for Ryobi black friday? Hoping for a deal on the 18v pole hedge trimmer

    • +1

The deals were all I could find at the time of posting but it appears they are adding other deals as the day goes on. Probably worth keeping an eye out here on OzB over the next couple of days.

These are all early deals, so hopefully there will be more when we get to Black Friday proper.

  • +1

If you want decent Ryobi garden tools, go for the 36v equipment. This 18v stuff is way too gutless and weak.

  • any one know, do you have to return the original item and buy it again for the cheaper price, or can they just refund you the difference?

    • Easier just to return and get a refund…

  • Would anyone kindly be able to recommend a good battery powered whipper snipper?

  • +1
    • Looks pretty good value to me considering the blower skin is $249 alone, and the battery is $249 separately.

  • I bought this set last year as a Black Friday deal. I don't have a large lawn, around 200 m2 separated into 5 different areas. I love the lawnmower due to its size. Very easy to handle and move around to the different areas. I do agree that 18V lacks power so I need to be diligent in mowing the lawn as it gets harder to mow with the 18V if I leave it too long. In terms of the trimmer, I had issues with the shaft and the line was always snapping (especially when I was using it as an edge trimmer). I took it back to Bunning but they didn't have the trimmer on stock and had this weird policy that I also had to return the blower which was working perfectly. They also didn't have the blower in stock and I got an upgrade on the trimmer and blower. Quite happy with the set now!

  • If I only want the lawnmower should I just buy that kit ($300) or is it worth it to get this one and then try to sell the other component parts off? I already have a charger and some batteries.

    • +1

The batteries retail for $149 each just for starters. I have never had a problem selling off parts of combo kit I don't need on FB marketplace.

Even conservatively and selling stuff off cheaply, you should be able get $80 $100 each for the batteries. I usually end up getting $30 the chargers. The line trimmer and blower should easily get you over $60 each. So definitely worth doing if you can be bothered dealing with FB marketplace.

I would sell off a couple of your older batteries though and keep the new ones.

    • where are you bud? If you decided to get this, I could take the blower off you

  • black friday is over and it's still at $399

  • They re still available in store. Picked up a set yesterday

  • Hopefully won’t get drilled for this ask, but I’m desperate. I purchased this 8 months ago at full price from Bunnings, but lost the receipt. Don’t have transaction date as paid case (can’t remember the date so they won’t replace (shit service imo).
Does anyone have a Bunnings receipt for this mower I could use???

    • Check your bank statements and find the date
