30% off All TorBox (Stremio + Real-Debrid Alternative) Plans - Essential US$2.1/Month, Standard US$3.5/Month, Pro US$7/Month

2061

UPDATE 2: New sign-ups and subscriptions are back! The Black Friday sale has also been extended (most likely for the next week), and you can still get an additional 7 days free by using any referral code. The service seems a lot more stable now with the increased servers and if you had an existing subscription, make sure to check your account as I've received an additional 60 days free for the downtime.

UPDATE: New sign-ups and payments have been paused by the developer while they wait for new servers to arrive. They have said the Black Friday sale will be extended because of this, but no word as to when sign-ups/payments will be re-enabled.

If you're planning to move away from Real-Debrid after their anti-piracy changes, TorBox are currently having their Black Friday sale with 30% off all their plans ending Dec 1.

They're currently having some server issues due to the massive influx of new users coming from RD, but are adding new servers tomorrow to handle the traffic and will compensate users for the downtime. I've bought a subscription and even with the server issues it seems to currently work fine for me with their Stremio addon.

The Essential plan should be enough for most people, and is cheaper than Real-Debrid's pricing. Also TorBox are based in South Africa unlike Real-Debrid and AllDebrid which are based in France, so are unlikely to shut down any time soon.

From their website:

All prices are already discounted by 30%, no coupon needed!

After December 1st, all prices will go back to their respective original prices.

The prices for subscriptions are for the first purchase only, the following months will be at the regular price. We recommend you purchase an annual plan to take advantage of this deal!

Payments stack! Take advantage of the discount by purchasing multiple months or years at once!

By purchasing before Monday, November 25th, you understand that the service is massively limited due to influx of new users and may not work as expected. Don't purchase if you expect everything to work perfectly right now. Please give us a few days. Thanks!

What is Stremio + TorBox/Real-Debrid?
In short, basically like a Netflix sub for US$2.1/month but with content from pretty much every streaming service.

What is Stremio?
It's an open source app similar to Plex/Kodi available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Google Play with over 10+ million installs. (4.2/5 rating). Most of the streams are 1080p/4K.

What is TorBox/Real-Debrid?
It downloads and caches torrent files remotely and then streams the content to you, so you never have an issue with ISP complaints. If you have a torrent link that is not already cached, you can add it to TorBox and it will download it for you and make it available to view in Stremio.

  • "Signups not allowed for this instance"

Anyone else getting the above error message?

    • They are pausing signups as there has been a delay in their delivery of servers

  • It was supposed to be Server Tuesday 😭.

    Shhhhhhh…. Fight club.

  • hopefully offer extended.

    • Yeah it's gonna be a long black friday

  • -4

Paying to pirate. I refuse to pay for the service.

      • Totally agree and well explained. Unsure why there are so many negatives.

        • +1

Ppl are like “Don’t tell anyone about our paid access to public trackers, sssshhhh, first rule of fight club” I get that part - if I paid for access to them I’d be ashamed to admit it too lols

All of this on servers in South Africa where the government has recently gone into partnership with a rather large pay tv provider to crack down on exactly these things, with successful arrests and raids recently.

I really hope ya’ll haven’t paid too much in advance

      • cry harder.

        • -4

Yes, and with the money I save by using superior options I regularly wipe the tears away with crisp banknotes

          • @2025: what would those superior options be exactly?

            • -2

@chadleyshe: The free options are inferior…

Easier enough to find the free options on free media heck yeah. Lots of alternatives out there to stream all the latest stuff for free.

  • -3

If you have to pay to do your pirating, you’re pirating wrong.

    • +1

Unless you're the head of the pirates, don't tell me how to pirate.

    • +4

Yeah shut up and let him pirate.

  • TCL tv, got POV working in Kodi but cannot get Stremio to work on TV, works perfectly fine on PC and has a nicer interface than Kodi. Tried re-installing and I read that using QR code to sign into Stremio might be a problem but there is no other way to sign in, has anyone got a solution by any chance?

    • but there is no other way to sign in

I remember only use user name and password, not very sure now.

  • I feel like there is not much cached torrent via Stremio on Torbox, only recent stuff is cached

Latest update from TorBox on Reddit. Basically refunding people that want it as can't give timeframe on upgrades

    • This guy is an absolute legend and you can tell he really cares about the business and the customers.
Im supporting all the way, a week delay isnt going to hurt us too much.

      • Agree, still lots of issues and no streams. Downloaded what we wanted to view anyways. And got Netflix. Hopefully by next week it's up and running smooth.

  • I believe RD is back up and running, as though the whole thing didn't happen - but may be wrong as I have lost track of it… anyone confirm?

    • Only some source blocked not everything.

    • Well I've been able to watch everything all week with no issues.

  • +1

ill ride out RD till the wheels fall off, then ill re-evaluate the best option

  • Is there still issues? Or just mine. Stremio is poo and POV is hit or miss

    • It has some Issues. Streams slow or not loading. But it's not too bad. Hoping its all fixed in a week or two

      • Yeah, see how it goes. Sucks to source it elsewhere. But works fine. Just Setup unraid box with few plugins and usenet to Plex.

  • Real Debrid is still working fine. But sure why anyone would be getting this now.

    • +3

Better UI, cheaper plans (without the need for 6 month lock-in), more integrations, less risk of being shutdown in the future, customer support that doesn't leak users' data

Real Debrid undoubtedly has a much larger cache and userbase, but honestly in day to day use everything works the same for me and it doesn't take long to wait for the download if something isn't cached.

      • The discount is only worthwhile if you stack i.e. buy multiple months or yearly. This is similar to RD - however the issue with banning users is a whole different issue.

  • Do u think it's safe to sign up for a 12 months while it's discounted or better to stick m2m?

  • Ridiculously slow compared to real debrid

    • Agree. And be lucky if it streams. Found using POV on Kodi made it work bit better. But stremio is so slow. Using Usenet and Plex ATM.

      • I only tried downloading direct, not streaming, but it's no where near on par with alternatives for that.

For streaming it might be enough

        • Just tested again, 6mbps… Not even enough to stream most movies

          • @Dyl: What do you recommend then?

            • @bhunter101: real-debrid, costs slightly more but a lot faster. Maxes out 250Mbps easily and has the biggest cache library of any of the debrids

              • @Dyl: How come everyone is saying that RD will not work anymore when in fact I'm still able to use it.

          • @Dyl: The advertised speed is 1Gbps. I got 40MB/s for some over wifi. Haven't tried direct from my main router tho.

      • wanting to set up stremio fior the holidays, then the RD thing happened as i was about to pull trigger….if not torbox, then what should a newbie like me go for?

        • Real-debrid only removed their availability endpoint, I don't think they actually purged much from the cache

          • @Dyl: What does that mean?

            • @nightelves: They use to have an availability endpoint where you could see if they have a torrent cached, they no longer do.

You have to simply add the torrent to see if it's cached already now, else it will download and cache it.

In theory DMCA's were being sent based on results from the endpoint being used

          • @Dyl: I am getting infringing_file when trying to get rapidgator stuff

  • Just tried out Torbox for a month, the problem is I need to turn on my VPn to be able to stream via stremio. Most likely my ISP (superloop) block my traffic. Anyone has the same problem?

    • +1

With Superloop, not blocked but I use 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 as DNS.

      It's just a DNS block

I'd still recommend using a free NordVPN (100% cashback) offer though

      • Thanks for that, turn off my VPN, change DNS and it works well.. watched Interstellar (84 GB) no stuttering….I might keep it so I can share it with family…(no IP restriction unlike R-D).

        • Pretty sure they don't allow sharing

RD doesn't check the IP restriction though, I use it on like 6 servers (all behind NordVPN in different locations, maybe they don't know?)

also the 84GB torrents are just poorly packed, around 10-20GB is more than enough for 4K. The 4-6GB YTS ones are worse quality.

            • +1

              @Kooratz:

your girlfriends place (no way you actually have one though)

              Ok they're attacking me

Not sure I like their policy, real-debrid is kinda just 'don't share it and we chill'. I've used 15TB+ some months and they don't care

              • +1

@Dyl: Torbox allows you to share with multiple people and download as much as you want.

                Torbox most noticable limitations are:
(1): ten concurrent slots; this is upgradable.
(2): You can't store indefinitely; you can attach external storage.

As I'm denser than Trump. What's wrong with Torbox? I'm actually curious; I want to know if there something I overlooked.

                • @MomentOfTruss: These services when mounted tend to use a lot more than expected, it's not uncommon to see 5TB+/mo with Plex Debrid with barely anyone using it.

The plex scans pull more of the file(s) than is needed, chewing up bandwidth. RealDebrid doesn't care, Torbox hasn't said what their limits are (and they haven't been seen yet).

If you're only using it with Steamio I doubt the limits will impact you at all

Edit: For context, my real debrid says 976GB today and I think I watched a single movie. I did get it down in the past to ~50GB/day idle by changing a bunch of settings in Plex's library scan but I forget what.

The other advantage is debridmediamanager works with real debrid, it can automatically check if a torrent is cached (so you can select cached torrents and don't need to utilise slots). AFAIK that isn't the case yet with Torbox; DMM does work with it but I don't believe it supports checking caching yet.

                  • @Dyl: Torbox has no bandwidth limits it's on their reddit post; they are an active part of reddits community.

The slots are only counted when you’re actively seeding or leeching; cached files don’t contribute to the count.

But with Stremio, you can check for cached torrents on Torbox, which you can then download to your Torbox. And you can setup Torbox to sync files to any drive.

Additionally, Torbox includes a built-in search that displays their cached torrents and have free Usenet access. Although torbox's built in search isn't great.

Also they have integration guide for riven which allows you to directly use plex to download movies to your drive. Or you can use Prowlarr if you want.

The creators have said they wanted to create a service that got rid of all limits.

Even toxboxes limit of 10 leeching or seeding torrents at the same time can be upgraded.

                    • @MomentOfTruss: How about jellyfin?

                      • @impoze: Setup a file on your desktop which Torbox downloads into and jellyfin reads.

For a direct integration there's none.

But Torbox is continuously updated based on community suggestions.

So there's always a chance it's coming soon.

                        • @MomentOfTruss: Torbox supports Webdav, so you can directly rclone mount it to a folder. This exists and works already.

It's a read only mount obviously.

                          • @Dyl: Thanks for adding context.

I made the wrong assumption that everyone knew I was talking about webdav.

                            • @MomentOfTruss: Oh wasn't clear… I thought you meant literally manually download into a folder for Jellyfin.

                              • @Dyl: I mean you could.

But it would be so painful to download each movie individually.

                    • @MomentOfTruss:

The slots are only counted when you’re actively seeding or leeching; cached files don’t contribute to the count.

Downloading the files counts though (not towards their limits imposed, but towards network traffic), which is where mounting Webdav uses a lot of data (automatic plex library scans for example)

Thus far real debrid has allowed it unless it's severely impacted their network (they've made some minor past API changes / limits)

Riven is the torbox equivalent of plex_debrid I assume, it still has the issue where library scans chew up bandwidth.

                      • @Dyl: Torbox has no limit on bandwidth they don't care how much webdav uses. Granted your ISP's bandwidth might be another story.

                        From reddit:
"you don't have to manage, set up, deal with bandwidth limits, storage space, or self imposed down times.".

That's not to say this will always be the case, just like how nobody could predict that debrid would be taken to court.

                        • @MomentOfTruss: Real Debrid said similar until issues started causing literal thousands of requests a second from faulty setups, now they have unstated limits

If you're using Steamio only you'll never hit a limit, but a mounted setup with library scanning it's not yet known. They might say it now, but so did every other Debrid service.

                          • @Dyl: But why does that make real debrid better?

After all Torbox still seems to be the superior service.

                            • @MomentOfTruss: Superior in what way?

It loses in speed, loses in cache size (expected as it's newer), am I missing something?

                              • @Dyl: Nope you're right the speed is faster guess I did miss something.

But the cache isn't a big deal.

Guess I'll be adding real debrid too.

                                • @MomentOfTruss: Cache is more if you want older TV series, real debrid literally has the first season of shows like The Simpsons cached.

Note torbox is slower because they have no Australiasia CDN, yet. They're I believe Amsterdam based only. Debrid has servers in Sydney

                                  • @Dyl: You're partially correct:

Cache is fine, but real debrid services retain files for one year.

So finding older content is typically easier on private indexers or Usenet; Usenet has retention of 10+ years.

For CDN, Singapore servers have better data transfer speed then Sydney; but ping is whole other question.

With slower transfer speeds no doubt a consequence of Australia's poor Internet infrastructure.

                                    • @MomentOfTruss: Don’t personally use anything from on usenet, only use debrid for media

Have torbox as a backup for media but it’s much slower

Debrid keeps the file cached if a client like zurg keeps readding it (which it does automatically), and I assume they have a specific number of requests required because on rare occasions really niche torrents (old tv shows) drop off. In other words, if enough people have it in their zurg mounted library it stays cached indefinitely

P.s real debrid has a speed test link
                                      https://real-debrid.com/speedtest

                                      As does torbox
                                      https://speedtest.torbox.app/

Torbox is improving, I now get 150mbps on their test. 275 on real debrid Sydney. 250mbps nbn

                                      • @Dyl: Honestly, I'd forgotten to run a speed test comparison until you mentioned that debrid was faster a couple of comments of ago.

Anyway, real debrid isn't even the best debrid for caches.

Testing both real debrid and all debrid; all debrid had more cached then real debrid.

With All debrid failing to find dragon fighter 2003. And a couple of other rare films. But I tested a couple of years ago.

Just checking now dragon fighter is available on Usenet.

Also I was just looking for a 2k release, the public trackers didn't have the release. But both private and Usenet had the 2k release.

So for 2k and older movies there's no question that Usenet is better then debrid.

          • @Dyl:

Pretty sure they don't allow sharing

Illegal streaming service expects you to not share accounts… lol

            • @Randolph Duke: Apparently Torbox allows it according to other comments

Real Debrid doesn't but if you use it behind NordVPN…..

  • TCN Visa Card not accepted, GPay errored. What they want? CC detail? lol

    • Use Revolut or buy a card off plati.

      • Coles Master Card went through lol lucky I still have one with enough balance. $37.16 paid.

  • Why are people hoping on to this when Real Debrid still works?

  • +1

Just adding to my complaints… Just added a 1GB torrent as a test to both RD and Torbox.

RD finished, Torbox is still loading / hasn't started. It's found 0 seeds and 1 peer, RD had 13 seeders when it finished.

This is more of a seedbox and usenet accessor than a debrid service.

  • Seems they just removed the beta search and now have to manually search out there and add the torrent ourselves? Something that I can do myself for free lol.

  • +1

I'm a little tired of torbox being really slow and not everything being instant streams. Is real-debrid still operating good? I'm thinking about giving it another shot

    • Real debrid has always been operating great and still is. Everyone panicked for nothing tbh. It was fun to watch though.
If you weren't one of the ones who asked for a refund and got blocked, you should be fine to come back.

      • +1

Cheers. Never asked for refund so I'll try resigning up once my torbox sub expires this week

    • +1

I just sub RD again for 180 days..torbox not up to the expectation yet..

      • Yeah torbox not the best. Using Usenet and better. Also seems to be issue with stremio. Now just use Usenet with Plex. Add things to watchlist and be there a bit later. Otherwise Kodi and POV seems to be better for streaming.
