I got JB to pricematch and used gift cards at 10% off (purchased off here) for a total out of pocket of $4752 for the 98”. Because it’s on back order, JB also said that if any shops in the country drop below $5280 over the next few weeks, including Black Friday, they would refund me the difference. JB are also currently offering free non-wall mount setup which is usually $399 for a 98”, or $100 wall mount setup which is usually $499.

      • Did they give you any indication of estimated delivery? I ordered one in October and JB told me as recently as last week, the ETA is unknown, like probably not until next year some time.

        • ETA is still unknown, JB VIC has 15 units on back order from TCL. I was told they expect to have them in around 3 weeks

          • @antik: FYI just got confirmation for next delivery for mine.

      • who did you price match against?

        • Appliance Central - $5280

hoping for < 2.3k based on previous deals, but this TV is the one for me

    • +2

I am too, however, demand seems high which may keep prices high. At the moment the big retails JB, Harvey Norman, Good Guys have it for around $2834, so you could probably negotiate close to $2400 imo

  • this or C4 Oled?

    • +4

C855 always wins on value for money

    • +4

picture quality is oled, other than that c855 is pretty good.

    • +1

I'm a massive OLED fan but size plays a big factor when it comes to viewing, unless you are really picky and want the best picture quality period, i think most people would be very happy with big boy.

I bought one recently in a previous deal and generally I'm always disappointed with new TV's and see obvious flaws without 'looking for them'. The 85c855 is the first TV I've bought without any instant buyers remorse, and the first TV I've felt was true value for money… (in a previous, cheaper deal).

        • How much was it boss?

          • +2

@Goodproduction: $2556 for the 85c855, but there were a few people who managed to get it down into the $2100-2300 at the time.

            • @REDRUM: I was one of the few who managed to snag it for $2100 delivered. Absolute steal from all i have read! Haven't gotten the tv yet since i pushed back the delivery but i have heard nothing but positive reviews.

Could wait for boxing day but always a gamble waiting.

              • @Shanetrain: I'm almost bitter, but then I look at the TV and all my worries instantly fade away :D

                • +1

@REDRUM: Hahaha always a better deal around the corner, better off enjoying it now than waiting for the next best price!

Thanks OP, just price matched JB for the 55" C755 using Appliance Central - $824 pickup (less some discounted gift cards).

    • Appliance Central do free delivery for $824 so I'm hoping to price match including delivery.

  • 98inch nearly double the price..

Any deals on the 75" everyone? : 🤞

  • I bought the TCL 85C855 on a previous sale, great size and display. No regrets.

  • I've had the TCL 85C855 since August. Only problem is sometimes wifi disconnects and reconnects several times in the first minute or two after turning it on. Haven't figured out why this happens but have read another owner comment with same problem.

    • Does this issue affect anything if you're using an external device like a Google TV for Chromecast? Not functionality I mean more like notifications showing on the screen or something..

      • Don't know. I don't use any external devices as they aren't necessary with this tv

  • Are tv's at JB/Appliances online etc already on Black Friday prices or will they get lower on Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

    • +1

Would like to know too…guess it's all speculation at this point!

fwiw.. jb price matched costco (OOS) 85" $2499.

    https://www.costco.com.au/c/TCL-85-Inch-C855-Premium-QD-Mini…

    • I just tried that, and got the "Can't match Costco as they are a members only warehouse which goes against the terms of our price match policy" line, then offered to sell it for $2875, so guessing they still work on commission there.
The fact someone matched it makes me think they might have something in the works for Black Friday this Friday?

      • no idea mate.. i bought last Saturday from JB. Showed the costco price. They didnt bother asking me for membership.

        • Same here, JB price matched Costco and they didn't ask for a membership

  • I got Harvey Norman to price match Costco today. Any recommendations for a TV mount?

  • Purchased the 85" in July, have sinced notcied the bottom 10cm of the 85c855 when in an all black or dark background subtitles go dim, and when running the villiaman blooming fald test the moving bright box just loses so much brightness on the bottom 10cm have tested 3 more display units in shops but still highly recommend the TV just orderd a 50" for our room

  • I got the 75C855.

I gotta say the Google OS and assistant experience is pretty average - especially when trying to cast from two separate mobile devices (mine being android and my wifes IOS)
Sometimes it wont cast at all, or will cast what was playing last or it will say its casting something on the phone but not be whats actually casting.
The assistant always gets commands wrong too. Sometimes I say 'Hey google, keep playing the chromecast' to press play on a paused video and it will start casting something else.

Anyways just my 5c - picture quality more than makes up for this. Watching David Attenborough's Planet Earth 3 in full uncompressed 4k on this TV is unreal. The TV gets blaringly bright and black levels are virtually at oled except for some colour bleeding from high contrast colours into deep blacks. Wish I got the 85!

  • I just bought the 85C855 from Appliances Online directly, matching their eBay price at $2684 with free delivery scheduled for this Monday.

All the brick and mortar store were OOS with no guarantee of delivery before Christmas. (and they were a bit more expensive, all asking $2834)

Purchased from JB today, price matched Costco and got some further discount with haggling. $2,400 including delivery and extra 5% off with gift cards. Happy days!

    • Whereabouts?. I tried a two JB in Melb North suburbs, one didn't even look Cotsco, the other said no because Cotsco is out of stock.

      • Elizabeth street JB in the city.

        • Can you share your receipt/invoice?

  • Any similar deals on boxing day?
