Normally I'd agree with you - but I have an old skirtingboard plug where this is ideal as I can't fit plugs that 'hang down'. So it can be useful.
I'm sure there are good use cases, but generally you want to design a products for the 95% of scenarios and not the few. But hey if it works for you, awesome.
I have the cable version of it and it served me awesomely overseas with various voltage and frequency countries. Now I use it at home as my primary desk charger. Great product.
Because Australia is such a small market, it's pretty irrelevant in their design decisions. US had sockets lined up vertically, so they can fit two, one up one down.
Well there ya go, I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty much everywhere I have travel in Asia and Europe is side by side. Figures America has to be different.
Anything more than 100W? My phone charges at 125W
Maxes out at 100w per port.
this will do https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Charger-Charging-Station-Ma…
140w + 100w + 60w
Is UGreen a reliable/trusted brand for chargers?
Yes
has been around for years
My 100W failed after 2 months. So…
Any issues getting a warranty replacement?
No. Bought from Amazon, contacted Ugreen regarding the problem via chat and they asked to send it back. Weird problem is that the charger cannot distribute power properly. As soon as something requiring more than 15W plugged into C2, C1 device starts playing up. C1 rated 45W, C2 - 30W. Had same issue with a Zyron 60W, before replacing it with a Samsung charger.
@vovka: Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a go as I need more ports - can always send it back if it doesn't work.
I have a similar issue with a 68w Kogan GaN charger where if my Laptop/Steam Deck and Phone are charging simultaneously they will drop out constantly. Very annoying.
@ozb88: that's why I'm looking at getting Anker 200W. Same price now on Amazon.
This or the Zyron 100w?
Ugreen is trustworthy
Anker
Anker is even better but more expensive
Not much more. Especially when on sale like now.
I have heaps of ugreen USB cables, 3x hard drive cases and 3x wall chargers and none have ever failed me. Even my 5+ year old HDMIs cables are still good. There quality is very good for the price. I find they are on par with Anker
yeah I’ve got a few cables and I think a HDMI too, working really well for a while. The zyron threads always have a lot of good feedback as well. So a bit torn as to which to buy for an upcoming trip. Zyron seems to have pulled their 100w version from sale before Black Friday which is weird.
Currently using a heymix 67w, pretty good and no fires for over a year. Just charging laptop and iPhone most of the time. Just looking for 3-4 ports as will have travel router and family of 4 with a few devices to keep topped up.
How to choose between the first two (100W)?
One plugs directly into the socket, the other has a cable.
Thank you OP, I bought one 🙏
For the first one, where the charger plugs directly into the socket, why the hell would you orient the plug like that so it blocks adjacent sockets??
