        Seems Logical at that time…

      • Can’t remember all the little details.

  • +2

Wow bargain. I already have one but purchased another for the car. Thanks OP.

  • Bought one as a pick up order.
    Thank you for sharing.

  • +3

Dammit - I only have 4x mini socket sets - I need this as the 5th one

  • +4

    Great price

  • +1

Geez that’s a crazy price for a very solid set. I have 2 already, considering buying more to bring the average price down.

    • +8

      It's not crypto

      • Considering BTC is at ATH (US$100k), you would be averaging up at the moment.

  • hope this is more durable than my sidchrome ratchet that only lasted 12 months

    • +1

Sidchrome are owned by Stanley Black and decker. Makers of all things cheap and nasty. Nobody brags about their sidchrome gear anymore.sadly.

      • Yeah, I have a Sidchrome socket set that's probably older than most people here. It's seen a fair bit of work, and it's still in great condition.

        • +1

          Yes ,

          Old Sidcrome good
          New Sidcrome bad

  • I have a 1/2’ and 3/8’ set. Do I need this too?

    • +9

      It's been 4 minutes, I assume you've already purchased.

    • Yes. Is your OCD not working,

      • +1

Wonder if Syd Tools are monitoring this post, when you posted deal they were $19.95 now dropped to $14.95. Nice post OP!

        • Interesting. I certainly didn't notice it. Looks like a mod has already adjusted the price.Cheers.

        • That will be the brazing version. ST sell 2 types.

  • grabbed spanner set as well! cheers!

  • Cannot check with click and correct for multiple stores. Maybe they have locked sales in my state. Yes, only put one in the basket.

  • +2

    That metabo price is amazing

    • +2

      Yes, very good ,
definitely worth scooping up while you can.
That Crescent locking plier set is also a good one,
Pretty much an all time low price as well.
Very good quality for the money at $29.

      • -1

It's not knipex so most snobs will turn their nose up at them

        • Crescent are a decent brand in locking pliers.
They’ve been making them for many decades and are a pretty simple design that they have actually managed to improve upon.

I have a big sidcrome pair from back in the day when sidcrome were synonymous with quality, and all the teeth have rounded off from decades of use ripping bolts off rusted Japanese 4B’s that have lived on the beach.
The new locking mechanism on a the Crescent should help grip better by locking more securely and therefore save your teeth from wear.

This is my biggest bugbear about these things .

It’s all about locking the jaws on hard enough so that they are not going to slip, and as long as the steel they’re made of is hard enough they should last well.
The sign of a good set is almost being able to squeeze a nut and crack it by force alone, maybe a little heat and a tap with the persuader but really embed the teeth and lock on to a nut, that may have rusted and rounded completely .

          For $19 for a set of three it is a no-brainer .
You’d have to be stupid not to pick these up,
and they’re the perfect stocking stuffer for all ages.

Really a go to tool for the young bloke who works on cars and actually drives older vehicles,
who might get caught out and have to fix something in the bush without a full toolkit.
They also work well to hang on to a piece of the vehicle that might be falling off.

          • @beach bum: I agree with you, I was mainly just talking about what seems to be popular in here these days. I will say however that it's been rare for me that a rounded bolt that I was unable to crack open with my sockets and spanners came undont with one of these. I have had better luck with a one hander, which has a sprung jaw and the harder you push against it the more it grips

I have some old pairs that are quality and still work. I also use these any time I need clamps and it's OK for them to be not very wide or deep in the jaw. I might even pick up a set myself, I have a full set of crescent electrical tools, and I don't have all the sizes in these

            • @Jackson: Yes, there are probably more tecnomimlogical specialist tools out there these days and I also have a couple of needle nose locking pliers that can be handy, but the stubby nose do seem to get most use as they are good clamps aswell.
These are just really good cheap locking pliers that you can buy and throw in the toolbox or into your vehicle without a second thought,

I bought a set and I find I’m pulling them out pretty often,
and you don’t have to be precious about them .
Best tool purchase (value wise) I’ve made in a while.

But I know what you mean ,
I personally like the two spanner trick.
You can really get some tension happening with a couple of nice long chrome spanners flexing and torquing on a bolt, as long as there is still a bolt head to grip on to,
and of course a long breaker bar is another essential tool to have, but we use what we have within reach half the time so more quality hand tools lying about the better.

          • @beach bum: Correction on comment two posts back :
            for $29 for a set

  • Thanks OP needed a spare set

  • +2

I really want one, but 1/2 and larger socket sizes is needed (and what I have) for roadside. So I don't know where I'd use this small set.

Chisels are actually cheaper than listed here. They're $14.95

  • +2

The bosch vacuum comes up with 404 error

    • Just checked, it came up the same for me too this time.Did a search and looks its done. Will remove it. Thanks.

      • How much was it meant to be? The 18v ones seem to be charp atm

        • It was the 10l wet and dry vac. was $199 with bonus 5.0ah battery and charger.

  • Is bahco a sydney tools home brand?

    • +6

Its a Swedish brand, been around for well over 100 years. They make great tools. I have some hat I have had for decades.

      • Still get what you pay for with stuff like handsaws and chisels, they arent all equal.

        • +1

It is a compact kit that retails for $69.95

Idk if Bahco quality really gets questioned for the price, and at this sale price it is really good value..

      • Have bought some of their garden tools and can recommend.

A set of loppers cost about $70ish.. but they’ve been great and I expect they’d last a lifetime (or 25 years..)

    • +3

Bahco is part of SNA Europe, SNA Europe is a subsidiary of Snap-on. Snap-on acquired Bahco in 1999.

Bahco is the flagship of SNA Europe.

  • Thank you grabbed one

  • Went through the ordering process,
only for the option to pay with PayPal to disappear.
    Why is this?

  • Is the Gearwrench set any good?

    • +1

Very good for the price IMO. We're not talking stahlwille quality but mine have been very servicable for motorbike repairs.

  • +3

    also https://sydneytools.com.au/product/crescent-clp3setn08-3pce-…
3 piece locking pliers (mole wrench) set $29, and some crescent wrenches

  • +2

Bugger. The last thing I need is another socket set but the positive votes is hit 100 so what choice do I have.

    • +2

I'm with you but couldn't resist. I grew up in an era where few people had them - if they did they were cheap and nasty things. Mine was made out of hardened chewing gum. As a result i can't not buy any bargain quality socket set. I have way too many. Faves are the teng tools. They have no right to be that good for the reasonable price

    • +1

Haha, you must resist, l posted the deal but didn't buy one, if that helps, lol.

      • +1

        you must resist

        Too late!

  • Got this one for "free" a few years ago. absolutely love the little thing. very satisfying to use, and is good for like 90% of the socket set tasks I do.

    • +1

Yep same, I got mine free from an RS or some other electrical wholesaler. Completely forgot about it and it was shipped 6 months later. Great quality, use it more often than I would have thought.

  • Thanks for sharing, ended up nabbing a few things.

FYI Sydney Tools just called to advise the Bahco socket set is OOS. Was given the option to have the item refunded, or wait indefinitely in case it's restocked and the order can be fulfilled.

    • +1

Mine said they got hit hard with a lot of orders. They definitely have my order and when they restock it will be fulfilled. Hopefully in time for the Christmas present 🙃

      • They seem to be handling it well tbf. Hope for a restock soon 🤞

        • Got mine today. They are struggling with a shitty system that can't take BF loads. Too many people on the system. Poor guy out the back was stressing out

          • @Tommohalby: Nice! Yeah, I feel sorry for the fulfilment team. Tough time of year in retail.
Just notified my order is on its way to me

Got two for Xmas presents for dad and bro

  • I didn't need it and I still bought 2 of them

  • Picked up 2 of them. Cheers for the Xmas stocking stuffers

  • +1

    Sadly theres no extensions

  • Thanks, got one. The store guy told me that i was lucky as it went OOS in 2 hours.

  • bought one, thanks.

  • Thanks OP, got distracted by the flex head wrenches and picked up a pair of kits too (buy the metric kit, get the 10-piece SAE kit too). https://sydneytools.com.au/product/gearwrench-87025-12pce-12…

  • Ozbargained again.

  • +1

If you buy the 1000V Bahco screwdriver+pliers set (on sale at $59) they throw in a set of these for free.

Alternately you’re paying $40 for the set and $19 for these..

Even though it says it’s out of stock it is added to your cart with the other set.. 🤷🏾

    • I don't know about you, but I don't think two screwdrivers and a single set of pliers is a great deal at 40 bucks

      • They’re electrical ones which are built to a different standard and price point.

For the average DIYer perhaps there’s little value unless you prefer using good tools.

        • You’d spend $25-$75 for a set of linesmen’s pliers by itself (Bunnings).

          • @jason andrade: Sorry but I got my Crescent electrical stuff from bunnings off a deal listed here ages ago, a full set of screwdrivers was 15 bucks and the full size pliers were 15 each

    • Just tried and its not working anymore, can anyone confirm?

Just picked up 10 from my local store and he said they put a big order so more will come through so I ordered another 10

  • +1

Just another bullsht sydney tools deal.

Once again got the unable to supply, this time excuse is eta is 6-8 weeks despite online saying it is in stock at store level.

Literally 4th order from these promos where they say no longer in stock, and now it says $69.

Assuming pricing error and they don't want to admit.

    • Depends on when you ordered I guess. I got a shipping label email yesterday

    • Personally I prefer to buy elsewhere, as I find them to be very slow in delivering, and their lack of communication is appalling. But to be fair, everything I have ordered from them has turned up. Eventually. Plus they generally have some of the best pricing out of all the tool shops.

Another positive, they were definitely the best with warranty when I was using Milwaukee tools. On the other hand. Total Tools were terrible. Had to wait up to 8 weeks for just simple stuff. Eg; 2 x failed chargers, 2 x failed batteries and a failed rotary hammer.. Sydney Tools replaced my failed M12 ratchet in 3 days.

They re not the only ones that are slow either. I have found Tool.com to be possibly even worse.

On a more positive note, I have found C&L Tool Centre to be very good, as well as Trade Tools. Have also had good experiences with Toolmart, even though they are on the opposite side of the country from me. Also Total Tools have been very good in my experiences with them.

As far as instore dealings, I can only speak from being in Canberra. Both Sydney Tools shops have a very uncomfortable vibe, almost as if the staff just don't want to be there. Total Tools in Canberra is the complete opposite. And the last place I will ever shop from is Gasweld. Just awful here. i believe Gasweld is a franchise and certainly years ago, here in Canberra, the son of the owner was just a complete d$ckhead. And I don't believe it was just a personality clash on my part, all 4 of our crew at the time never walked in there again.

    • Same, just received an email this morning saying my order is in backorder. Just as well I am not needing these tools in a hurry, otherwise I wouldn't bother order a set even at this low price.

    • Mine just got shipped from Shepparton

  • Got a ready to pick up text and email

  • No PayPal on pickups sucked ,
    No sockets for you !

  • +3

Made in CHINA. That’s ok as long as you know it. Ok for $19 but if paying RRP Taiwan is bare minimum.

    • Yes, just collected mine but disappointed to see the actual size (small) and "Made in China". Totally not worth the RRP.

Wouldn't have bought it for even $19, if I knew.

      • I still have not received any email to notify my backorder. When I ordered it, it was listed as in stock, but shortly after I have ordered and paid, they emailed me it is in backorder.

        • +1

Mine came faulty. Spring loaded steel ball on the socket head is jammed and won't fit any of the sockets. Will have to take it back for full refund.

  • +1

My delivery order is still "allocating stock" after 8 days, still waiting :(

  • Just received an email confirmation for collection in Smithfield
