Sony Reader PRS-T2WC (White) $118 Delivered or Pickup @ JB Hi-Fi

180

Sony Reader PRS-T2WC White $118 at JB Hifi, delivered for $0 or free pickup. Normally $178, JB currently have a sale putting them at $168. This is the latest model. I haven't looked instore so I don't know if they advertise this price in store. This may be a misprice, or a genuine sale. The equivalent black model is still at $168. There is another model PRST2HWC but at $168. As far as I can work out, the only difference is the inclusion of a Harry Potter book in the HWC model.

If you look around in JB stores, you might still be able to find a case for the PRS-T1 for $9 (no light) or $15 (with light). The case apparently fits both PRS-T1 and the T2 but is on clearance because the new one has the "compatible with PRST1 and PRST2" printed on it and the clearance model only has the PRST1 printed on. There may also be new indentations on the case where the new button row sits.

Potential for more savings with an Entertainment Book JB HiFi Gift Card with 5% off. $118 - $5.90 = $112.10. But does take a few days to arrive, by which time, the reduced price may be gone. Officeworks do not stock the Sony.

I won't go into the pros and cons between this and Kindle/Kobo. But I personally do prefer the Sony over the other models.

  • While not a fan of the white it is a good price for the reader, good find OP :)

  • Great price. I prefer Sony over Kindle because of how it handles pdf file and supports SD card. However, I don't see the need to purchase this model as it has no major advantage compared to my 3 years old PRS-650 reader. Come on Sony, I am still waiting for some inventiveness in your next ereader for me to upgrade.

    • +1

My trusty PRS-350 (the lower end model from the 650) that I bought when they released it started doing the blinking amber light of death the other day. And then this came up. It was good timing!

I am now browsing and borrowing ebooks from the Melbourne Library on the reader as I type. Thats a great feature.

PDF is handled very well, resizing, reformatting, etc. And this model has pinch zoom. If you know how to use an android phone, you'll feel at home with this as this is built on android. And its faster. Very responsive. Anyway, still playing and discovering :)

  • Hope I can find that lighted cover today! That's a good price~

  • i have a kobo, and i def say kobo is much better than kindle. i'd like to compare kobo with this one. I may get one too.

the only problem i have with my kobo is reading pdf files. It's a pain to read pdf books on kobo, I end up have to use calibre to convert them into epub. but still theres glitches here and there.

it would be interesting to know how well sony handles pdf.

If you have a Kobo Glo you won't get this one.

      • as far as i know, kobo glo is just a model with built in light. No improvement or whatsoever on the processor or software.

  • Thanks OP, bought one, my sammy tablet 7.7 is also on the way.
