any risk of not buying directly from ledger?

    • +3

      I personally wouldn't risk it.

    • +2

      too risky. Only buy direct.

    • +2

just reset it again when you receive it and verify with ledger live.

    • Don't risk it, always buy directly from Ledger.

  • Worth even buying not direct from ledger dont think its worth the risk for saving 40% and loosing alot more money

  • Special on their website right now: https://shop.ledger.com/pages/black-friday

      $24 shipping

      • Ahh never saw

    • disappointed no real sale on the flex

    • $24 shipping haha

For everyone saying "iS tHeRa rIsK nOt bUyINg fRom LedGeR"… the seller is ledger, so no, there is no risk because you are buying from ledger.

"Eligible for change of mind returns until Jan 31, 2025",

Amazon will just repackage it and sell it again.

I think Tangem is a game changer for storing your crypto .

  • +1

Can someone quickly explain what this device is and how to make the most of it?

    • +2

It is your offline crypto storage, which is a good idea given exchanges do get hacked, etc. You move your exchange coins to this offline storage. When you sell, you need to move back to exchange. More for longer term holders. Interfaces with an app on the PC too, for ease of use.

      • You don't have to move your coins to and from exchanges anymore since you can now buy and sell within Ledger. I don't recommend it though due to the premium they charge and my issues with Ledger's security roadmap.

Also, while many people consider a hw offline storage to me they just help self custody and air gap (requiring physical input) until you want to connect it online… true offline storage for me is cold storage.

I'd pay $83 not to use any ledger product

    • +1

what do you recommend then ?

      • I am also curious. I still store mine on btc-markets exchange. Yeah I know, it's bad but I'm poor and don't have much bitcoin lol.

        • @Ronke23 @Tythefly86 I like Trezor

        • A BTC only hardware wallet, where there is less code and possibility of attacks.

          • BitBox02 - Bitcoin only edition $$
          • Coldcard $$$
          • Blockstream Jade (budget option) $

I love my BitBox02. Gave my parents a Jade and it is also a good device with a camera. And it's cheap.

I have an old Ledger that I stopped using

    • I agree with ozilicious, would never buy another ledger product.
pulled my ledger nano out of storage after a couple of year to find about 6 dead pixels on the LCD, contacted ledger to see if they have any spare parts or fixes, but was just told to buy a new one.

pointless to have to keep replacing when the screen craps itself because "..Please note that Ledger hardware wallets, just like any other electronic devices are consumable and by nature will face decay/signs of usage.."

Trezor's on sale as well. Safe 3 is a good comparison and price.

  • What happens if I accidentally put mine in the bin. Will I loose my 16 million worth of Bitcoin?

    • no, because you have your 24 word recovery keys stored in a bank vault or under your grandmothers mattress.

lol what's with people against buying from retailers? how many cases have there been of compromised ledgers bought from physical stores?
