          @Gehirn: Thanks. Would I be right to say Metroplex has long run value because it’s rare (like only released in certain country regions), just like how from my understanding rare MLP has long run value bcos of this reason?

    most probably wont, but there are definitely some recent years which are really hard to get

    • ss86 grimlock leader (but i think it's being re-released)
    • ss86 optimus prime commander (just released, but this will probably hold value down the line)
    • a lot of the older masterpiece stuff probably (since the lines been discontinued)
    • a lot of the ss86 stuff will probably do well because they're pretty good molds/well engineered

    having said that, it's hasbro, they will probably re-paint, re-release it.. for example, netflix voyager soundwave was released in 2020, popular re-mold of the siege soundwave and deco's were accurate, really hard to get and prices were stupid, but this year they've re-released the mold as a leader price point with a few cassettes, so the demand for the netflix release is a lot less desirable now.

    If you're thinking about buying transformers to invest, I would probably say there's far better things to invest in. most of the figures that have been released lately have been downsized, poor engineering, worse plastics and just feeling cheap, the brand really does feel like it's suffering. for me, I just enjoy the figures first and if they hold some value down the line then that's a bonus.

      Great thanks for the info.

      I recently got lucky with a MLP that was gifted to me 10 years ago as a leaving gift at old work place. Turned out to be a rare MLP. Still in box and all and sold it for ~700% profit from the original price (albeit I got it for free!).

      I know there’s a MLP cult following, would Transformers achieve a similar thing?

        I wouldn't really describe transformers as having a "cult following", just a lot of fans. Admittedly, I've kinda stopped collecting TF's because of the terrible hasbro releases recently, but I don't really see it becoming like MLP since the movies haven't really done that well recently. I get this feeling that most collectors who collect TF's have their own personal grails and that's about it. The money is probably in the older stuff like black zarak g1 (that doesn't suffer from gold plastic syndrome), g1 jetfire/skyfire (that doesn't suffer from yellowing), stuff like that.

  i've been following this figure for a while, went as low as $32 on amazon for the longest time, but $23 is unbeatable, especially for a leader class.

    there were two listings for some reason, i think it's the same mold but different release. the $23 one is gone now though.
