EGO LM2136E-SP-2 Mower with 2x 10ah Batteries & 5Ah Bonus Battery via Redemption $1499 (Pickup) @ Total Tools / Sydney Tools

180

Same deal as I posted (and bought) earlier in the month from Trade Tools (QLD Only) for $1599, but now $1499 at Total Tools and Sydney Tools nation wide.

Spend $1 extra on an eligable EGO product (e.g. spare blades) to qualify for the 5Ah battery redemption (as opposed to the 2.5Ah). I'm not sure what the eligable or qualifying products are though, but going by Sydney Tools, it's anything on this page: https://sydneytools.com.au/category/ego-redemption?orderBy=price_asc&p=1

EGO have confirmed via email that a purchase of $1499 can qualify for the 5Ah as they make allowances where the price is so close. They will approve a $1 discrepancy. Their instruction is to make a claim for the 5Ah when filling out the redemption form.

I am looking out for a Makita 40V Deal Mower + Multihear Trimmer + Chain Saw + Blower + 2 Batteries and Charger = $1500

    • +4

I am looking out for a Makita

Thank you for letting us know…

      • You're welcome

  • If you did not have an EGO you might not care the way you dressed
If you did not have an EGO you'd just be like the rest…

    • That's a million dollar riff if I ever heard one.

    • +1

Well hooked but caught on the boundary in the tall grass, Howzat?!

  • +1

All EGO products qualify (see Qualifying Purchase section) for the redemption bonus. Spare set of mower blades would be my recommendation if you don't need any other tools.

    • Wouldn't let me add mower blades as a redemption bonus, just the 5Ah battery… what I do wrong?!

      • I meant add the blades to your purchase to meet the required spend.

  • I love my ego

    • -4

Except it does not cut low enough compared to petrol mowers.

      • No good for doing my greens then.

      • +5

It needs to cut my grass, not cut my dirt

      • +2

This model cuts plenty low enough. I've never gone lower than level 3 and that is already close to scalping.

        • Mine cuts plenty low. Level 3 is perfect for me. I previously did level 2 and my lawns just cooked in the heat.
Unless you're putting on your perfect golf green, this mower is fine.

        • -1

I have the LMLB2135E-SP and it does not cut as low as my previous Honda mower.

          • +1

@jv: How low did you cut on your Honda? I currently cut down to about the 3rd adjustment from the bottom and that's very low, in winter I have raise it 1 in areas because it digs in when ground is soft.
It's 1 thing about the reviews on youtube, most are US/ Brits and they don't seem to cut lawn as low as the average Australian lawn

            • @donkcat:

How low did you cut on your Honda?

              Usually 3rd lowest.

The EGO cuts about 1cm or more higher than that on the lowest level…

              • @jv: Yeah I don't think this is the mower for me then, I normally give it a cut when it grows about 20mm from the Honda cut height, I have Santa Ana grass and it's so much better kept low

      • It doesnt cut low enough compared to any mower. Such a shame as they could be a great mower. If i want the lawn to look good i have to get out the old power mower. If I dont care I use the ego.

      • Yeah I had heard that don't cut very low so I was expecting that when buying, and yes, would agree, the lowest setting on this is equivilant to about the 5th lowest setting on my old Masport ST600. There's about a centimetre difference in height with the EGO between the edge of the deck and bottom of the blade. I put a 1.5mm washer (16mm Stainless Steel washer was a good fit) in there for now. Might go a second just so I've got the option of a lower cut if I want it.

      • +1

lol ffs i keep hearing this as a complaint, but it cuts more than low enough. then idiots on ozb keep spreading it :)

  • Hmm, I've been waiting for this but my honda just keeps trucking on.

I have a really big yard, will this thing handle it if I wait every 4 weeks during summer, I like to get my monies worth and do it every 4 weeks rather than 2 weeks?

    • Yeah, no problem. Similar power to a light petrol mower.

    • Depends on your lawn type. Summer maybe but spring Kikuyu needs to be cut once a week with this mower

    • I have a really big yard, will this thing handle it if I wait every 4 weeks during summer

You'll likely need a spare battery if the grass is long…

      • +2

900m2 yard here and 1 10ah battery is fine

  • EGO have confirmed via email

Why risk it? Nothing wrong with have a spare set of blades.

  • +3

For people considering this for home use, be aware that 2 x 10Ah batteries is overkill. Most yards will be able to be done with a single charge of the 5Ah battery. You should be able to recoup about $400 each for the 10Ah batteries on Marketplace.

    • Great callout, most people don't need 2x 10a.
Other option which is what I did was to put spare batteries in storage for the inevitable death of first ones . They apparently store for 10 years

    • +1

      2 x 10Ah batteries is overkill.

Most of the time, I get away with a 7.5. 800m2 corner property so have two nature strips, front and back yard to do.

    • -1

How much does the 5ah battery go for?

      • Probably half that I guess.

  • Some pretty good deals here, buy the mower kit plus trimmer kit (spends around $2.1k)

    • Trimmer,
    • Mower,
    • 2 x 10a,
    • 1 x 7.5a (redemption)
    • 2 x 2.5a batteries

Sell the 10a batteries for around $800 on marketplace
Only $1300 and have 3 batteries still ,

  • Looking for a cheaper version of EGO mower… I have a battery pack from my EGO Trimmer

    • I have a battery pack from my EGO Trimmer

      Likely that won't be enough…

  • Just a word of warning for these proprietary higher output battery models.

AEG is discontinuing the 58V range and once sold out no batteries will be available again, lots of peeves owners we will essentially have a bunch of e-waste in a few years once the batteries dies.

Whether AEG, EGO, Green works DeWalt(54volt) id be wary…

Perhaps buying into a 36V range is more prudent as the power is getting better with time and you won't be stuck with a dead ecosystem.

    • Whoops, too late, already invested.

    • +1

EGO only use 56V batteries. AEG are predominately a 18V power tool manufacturer that also did some garden tools so it makes sense for them to concentrate on production of 18V (their 36V tools use 2 x 18V batteries). EGO and Greenworks are very unlikely to go lower than 56V as they focus on higher powered garden tools are growing their commercial user base. In saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if Greenworks discontinues one of their battery types as they currently offer 60V and 80V tools.

  • Bought the lower model mower and snipper back in March 2022, been happy with both.

  • The bigger the battery, more chances of problems. Had 2 x 7.5ah die 2 months after warranty and Ego DGAF. I had 3 batteries I cycled through each one. If I just used one at a time they both would have died within the first 4 months of use if I count by number of charges. Regret buying the whole ecosystem.

All in all, the equipment is OK not super great, except the blower which my husband really loves lol

    • -1

Should be returning to the store, not Ego, or did you buy from them?

    • I have been running a 5Ah and 7.5Ah commercially for two years now, around 6-7 full charges per week, and batteries are still performing close to how they did when new. EGO seem pretty good with warranty claims according to other commercial users but I feel for you having them die just after the warranty period.

      • Yeah my experience with Ego has been really good. I bought a seco0nd-hand Ego whipper snipper 4 years ago with 2.5Ah battery and it's been great. The battery which is likely 6+ years old now still getting through the hold yard no worries.

Just did a warranty claim on a handle for their commercial whipper/snipper brush cutter which I bought earlier in the year. Was very easy going over email, quick replies, etc. Got the new handle in less than a week.

      • +1

I did say to them surely it must have been a faulty batch if TWO of your batteries died at the same time with barely any use. But they didn't care, just said 'warranty is 3 years' and stopped responding to my emails lol.

  • Any gift cards going on for this retail store?

  • ATL was 1099

    • +1

ATL price error that they didn't deliver on.
