My dog is already mad…..
@BrokenRiedel Can you substantiate this claim? (our dogs are on it) Appreciate it 👍
Here is a published study showing a very high incidence of adverse reactions

Here are the FDA warnings.

Although these products can and have been safely used in the majority of dogs and cats, pet owners should consult with their veterinarian to review their patients’ medical histories and determine whether a product in the isoxazoline class is appropriate for their pet.
The FDA considers products in the isoxazoline class to be safe and effective for dogs and cats…
@Treepod: Did you not read or understand the study? I personally consider a study where 66% of the 2700 animal participants suffered adverse events to be a cause for concern. At the very least, reason enough to approach the product with caution and investigate further.
The FDA regulates pet products differently to human meds. The requirements for rigour in safety trials are significantly less than in human trials.
Even so, there are numerous examples of human drugs that were widely used and considered safe until they weren't.
My dog's breeder drew my attention to this issue as she's seen multiple instances of dogs having seizures immediately after being administered isoxazoline.
What's the alternatives to these products?
@Massive: If you don't have a Collie, Shepard or Whippet then you're unlikely to have any adverse reactions from isoxazolines, as it's mostly a problem for dogs with the MDR1 gene mutation.
Otherwise, you're best off with Selamectin (Revolution, Neovela, Selapro), least number of adverse reactions and pretty affordable. Not as effective as products in the isoxazoline class though, especially against ticks.
So if you live in an area infested with ticks, then Lotilaner (Credelio) is the least-bad product in the isoxazoline class, but I'd still be cautious and apply a partial-dose for the first month to test reactivity.
