Good price for a very nice F4 lens. This is the cheapest I've seen it. I've been keeping an eye on this and the Tamron 70 - 180 2.8 for a while, but the Sony better suits my needs.

Good pick up. I was having a quick google and that was the first listing that came up. Misread the Tamron brand as the seller.
It's a great lens, but once you have it, you'll find yourself longing for the 70-200mm f/2.8 GM2, as there are always moments when you wish for a larger aperture.
I did this exactly. Got this as it had macro etc etc. sold it and went 70-20f28gm2
For less money and similar or less weight the Tamron 70-180 F2.8 sacrifices 20mm and OSS for something I find a much more useful convenience.

I'd be tempted by the new sigma sport 70-200mm f2.8 while it's $1896 at dcxpert ebay.
It's always at $1896 with code. I have been keeping an eye on it for a long time. ATL is around $1700.

very sure it wasnt the gm1 as they dont even sell it. This was on backorder and had to be ordered in. i do have a receipt but where do i post it lol, looks like jb have taken the gm2 off their website lol

Having used both (and currently only owning the Tamron) - Just get the Tamron.
It's much better than the Sony for the same price.
No IS isn't a deal breaker as you've got IBIS as well as an extra stop of light for times when IS is required.
The Tamron is super crisp, has very fast focusing and an absolute banger lens.
Currently $1657 via Tamron directly via Amazon for the G2 which is a steal. Think I paid ~$1900.
